Forgive me for sounding stupid, but I thought it would be easier than that. So much of that went over my head, but I will definately write it down and remember it. Thankyou all for your help. I may end up doing this in the future. |

I have been wanting to convert my celica to RWD, and i've been thinking of how I could do it. One way I thought of is (someone correct me if im wrong) taking the transmission out of the front end of the car and sticking it on the rear axle, like the corvette design is. I was thinking it might be easier because the front of the car would have to have body work to hold the transmission (wouldn't it? I'm just guessing), and theres more empty room -the trunk- at the back. Would this be possible, with little or no bodywork (cutting any part of the frame)? If it can be done, how would you do it? My dad and I would be doing the work and we talked about it and he had a rough idea, but neither of us are sure of how to do it. Any help would be appreciated. I do know this would be very expensive, but its a thought for now. |

Oh man, I know it is so cheesy to name your car (this comming from a girl who calls her camaro 'The Beast') ..but my Celica is 'The Dragon', although its asleep for now, but it will soon wake up and rip pavement. |

Its a 1996 firebird with a 3800 series V6. when you turn the key, it will make the noise of trying to crank and thats all it does. the gas is not bad because we checked it and its fine. |

By bf recently got a firebird and hes almost done fixing it, except for what happenend the other day. He took it down the road for a test drive, and at first it drove perfectly and then died. and would not start. he has changed out coil packs, and tried switching out the coil pairs and that didn't work. He said the engine will try to start, and he checked to see if the spark plugs were firing, which they are. Do you guys have an idea of what it could be thats going wrong? Any help would be appreciated. |

oh yes it is definately a keeper. I even grew since i last drove the car (Im 18, and drove it as a practice car when i was 15 for drivers ed), so thats another reason to keep it. I'm going to have the engine rebuilt and then fix the interior. then ill add go-fast parts, lol. thats as far ahead as ive thought. |

Today I went to tow home my Celica (1994 ST Coupe) from its sitting spot. I had to tow it because the battery was completely dead and the way the engine is the car will only go 45mph. The engine is shot, the driverside window barely rolls up, the outside is red with LOTS of peeled clearcoat bubbles, theres a crack in the driverside door, the inside is nasty, and the speakers are warped but the good thing is the owner just gave it to me! Oh and it has 220,000 miles on it. Im taking this one because the previous owner didn't want it, and I want to take my time in making a perfect beautiful Celica! Its a piece of junk, but I am so happy about it, LOL. |

It makes me sad to hear the phrase 'the death of (insert popular car name)'... But those pictures of the grey and blue concepts look great. The front looks a tiny bit like the Saturn Sky with the humps over the fenderwells. It'd be a cool idea for Toyota to get feedback from its fans and the general public what they like and what would be some good ideas-like a contest (the winner just gets a thankyou, lol). I like the way that newer cars are coming out, with their sharp lines and hard shapes, but i miss the sexy curves of the '90s cars, like the 6gc/Supra/Mazda RX-7/Honda Prelude&Civic/Mitubishi Eclipse. If they could combine the new designs with sexy curves, they might come out with an irresistable car. And yes, I'm sort of comparing a car to the female figure, because the more curves, the more beautiful IMO. |

Maybe I'm new to this or my town has a unique police force-but here is the story. I get pulled over one day this week, and the police car that got me was a Dodge Charger, that had NO stickers designating it as a police car. But the people in the car were DEFINATELY police officers. In my area of the the U.S. (im not sure about other parts of USA), the cop cars we have are Ford Crown Victorias, Chevrolet Impalas, and a few Dodge Chargers. I'd told a friend and he asked me if that was illegal and I didn't know. At a glance you couldn't tell it was a police car, but the siren light were tucked up in the grill and headliner. So I'm asking if any of you have seen police cars like this, or had this experience? |

Ok, if my '94 celica ST is FWD Manual (does auto or manual mean anything to choosing an engine, anyway?), and I want to keep it FWD (i don't have the money or tools to convert it to RWD like i so would love to), am I limited in my options for a new engine? The 7afe in my baby is shot to hell, and I want to experiment. At first I wanted to put a 3sgte in it, but I don't know if that engine is meant for RWD cars only, or you can put it into a FWD? Then I was thinking about finding the V6 engine out of a wrecked (not too badly) '04-'06 Camry (I forgot the engine name). I doubt I'd be able to find a 4agze, so I want something big and powerful but slightly new so i have decent fuel economy. Would most engines (besides the engines on the Sticky 'engines that WILL NOT fit into a celica') pretty much fit into the celica's engine bay (with the little adjustments of motormounts and whatnot)? Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do? Or what cars I could inspect in my local junkyards? I know I want to stay within the Toyota family. If I got a different engine, would my celicas computer be compatible with the new one? |

For those of you who are confused, yes I am a girl. How do I learn to like myself? I was talking to a friend of mine (a 40 year old 'father figure' to my latest ex-boyfriend) about how hopeless I felt after the breakup (and that's starting go go away, im getting over him faster than I thought) and he told me I should be finding myself and getting into my element. What exactly does that mean? |

I think I may be one of those people who needs to have an antidepressant to be happy, or maybe I've got the permanent teen-blues. Heres my problem, there are things in life that make me happy, but most people could care less either way (I think). Things in life that make me happy: being in a stable relationship (having my guy tell me he loves me and all), adjusting to a new envrionment (everytime I changed schools in my academic career), making new friends, purchasing material things (you know how that is- ie, 'ooh wow! a jumbo pack of coloring pecils!'), driving a different car for a day (like driving my mom's Cougar to school one day) Things in life that make me sad: being single, finally having been used to my 'new' environment, finally getting used to a car and seeing one on the road that's totally awesome, seeing other couples make out wether or not I'm with someone, I've recently figured that the reason Im so harsh on myself (thinking of myself as a worthless piece of trash) is because I want to distract myself from something else that bothers me more. If you looked at my family, there's no real reason for me to get down on myself but I've done it forever and I can't stop. If I've been happy for maybe a week straight and something gets me down, I stay down. Is it like I need to learn to like myself? the only times I do, are when someone likes me or when I do something good and get praised for it. Also, when I think about stuff, I think really hard about all possible outcomes and take them to the harshest level and take that as my answer. Since I was little ive been picked on for my family's financial status or my height (I'm 17, 85lbs and 4'11''-the doc said im healthy). What do you think? Am i messed up and need help or is this normal for a 17 year old? |

Try Oil City, LA. It's between Vivian (slightly bigger, has a whole lot more drugs, hops and everything, is more toward the top of the northwestern corner of 'the boot state') and shreveport/bossier (way bigger, better, has a whole lot more **** to do and is the southermost of the three cities). Everyone at my highschool refers to Louisiana as the stinky armpit of the 50 states. It's so nasty, but you can find something good in it. All the old people in vivian are so hopped up on either crystal meth or Jesus, so many girls my age have babies of their own, the little chirldren will curse you out quicker than you can say hello. Oil City is an uneventful little pit so small that if you hocked a loogie on a minature model of the city, you would take out the whole town. And of course, Shreveport/Bossier has everything, nice people, all the restaurants, places to go have fun, stores, office buildings (thats more downtown shreveport). Haha, the area I live in is such a ****hole, but my parents decided NOT not move to Arkansas when I was 10 so I'm stuck until I get in debt with a student loan for college |

Okay! That helps me a lot, so I'll be loking for a Celica GT. I was hoping id get one exactly like moms old one (An ST), but that was before I knew all this stuff. I hope I'll be able to find a GT that doesn't have a hatchback, they look so unsexy to me (a kid at school has one and I thought ew.. ). But I just like the plain 2dr coupe because to me the body looks longer. I'm super picky about body and head/tail light design. I like Celicas so much because its the first car I ever drove and they are different. There are five running around my hometown- 2 silver ones, a black one belonging to an oil field worker and another black one that has a huge stick through the bigger headlight housing and a matte grey one belonging to my ex's bro in law. Thankyou all for answering my questions, you helped clear up some confusion. |

Where would I find an ECU? My dad thought he had to replace the ECU in my moms old celica and he went to the local Toyota dealership to order one and they said ECUs for that car aren't made anymore. I've heard the ECU out of some other cars would be the same as from a Celica? And arent the chassis codes for the USDM ST and GT AT200 and ST204? Are those the chassis codes for all the US 6th den Celicas? I was wondering because before I buy a Celica I want to know what the chassis code is. |

This may be a stupid question, but don't different exhaust systems have a different sound? I was thinking of getting a cold air intake for a Celica (I know what a celica sounds like with a cold air intake) and an aftermarket exhaust system. I was wondering if theres a way I can find out what all the different brands sound like? I'm meaning like Skunk2, Borla, Flow Master and MagnaFlow. I don't know if any of them sound like those giant Doge and Ford trucks (I mean the kind that are more made for Oil Field work or heavy hauling) or if its the engine that makes the certain noise, or if the muffler itself has a design on the inside that makes the noise. |

If I'm going to have the engine rebuilt, would it be a good idea to have a new transmission put in to go with the 'new' engine? I'm asking because ideally, I want the car to run as smoothly as a 'new born' right out of the factory. Also, since the car will be used, could the computer be messed up? If so, how would I go about fixing it? I know those are a lot of questions, but I've only got exparience with old chevys and fords as far as working on cars and I have so much to learn (and can't wait to learn). |

I just found out that the guy who has my mom's old ST doesn't want to sell it, so I've got a different idea. I know whatever I do, I want to either swap in a 3sgte or add a turbo/supercharger to whatever engine it has. I think if I were to add either 'charger to a stock Celica engine I would have to reprogram the computer (that's what dad told me), wouldn't I? If i were lucky enought to find a 3sgte, would I also have to reprogram the computer for that engine? All the things I'm thinking of doing, I'm going to do over a long period of time so the cost isn't really driving my decsision. Which would be easier to do? I think I might be leaning towards adding to the engine the car already has, after I have it rebuilt, because after my old Camaro I don't trust the engine of a cheap car, but what do you more experienced people think? And whatever trim of Celica I get, it will definately be a manual. |
