Ah, so research and parts comparison would need to be done before purchasing any replacement parts for a 5sfe

It seems to me, based upon the pictures that i am seeing, that all of yall's celicas have the same darned engine that my 91 mr2 does, but my question is, Are most of the parts (on the engine itself) or even the Drivetrain, interchangeable? I mean, its the 5sfe engine, they have, what appears throught pictures, to be the same parts, minus a few emmision controls mind you.

I have a 5sfe as my s.n. indicates, and I, too, am working on eventually turbo'ing the 5sfe. There really isnt any difference of what is on the engine, but merely what can be located on her in the mr2 bay. I have talked to a few tuners and have searched with no clear indication of where, if any exist, forged internals for the 5s.
Another thing I am trying to find is stronger axle's, wheel hubs, and a 2 way lsd, and maybe even changing the gearing of the tranny for a little more of a pickup in first gear.
I should start with what is, and will be done to her.
I bought my 91 mr2 about a week or two ago, i have already been to several tuning shops and the general concensus was to do a jdm engine swap, which is all fine and dandy, if i didnt WANT to keep the already strong toyota block, but methinks they assumed little or no internal work.
she has about 172k miles, which is an easy fix if bored, stroked, jacketed (if need be), ported and polished. oh did i mention forged and balanced?
but nonthing internal so far.
she is getting a custom made ram/cold air intake this week, custom exaust from the catalytic converter mounts down, with a new high flow cat installed as well. stage 3 clutchmasters kit with flywheel will be put in sometime soon, this week or next.
grt aerodynamics widebody fenders, most likely to be carbon fiber
can be found here
with the advent of the custom exhaust, no header mind you, the fabricator, and many others, have stated the mr2 exhaust to not be too restrictive.
I do have a free flowing air hosing from spectre or something (complete and utter crap, but works better than regular air box.) and of course the K&N Air filter.
The exhaust will be made by american muffler, just outside San-Diego, and the Intake by Revenge Motorsports.
I will appreciate any imput, even if its a bashing for being on a celica forum, and not having a celica, but it is a toyota still.....
