If you are single, go for the MR2. The only bad thing is, you only have room for 2 women (one on the other's lap in the passenger seat). People in the back seat cause accidents, accidents in the back seat cause people. Secondly, the MR2 is going to dramatically increase in value in just 9 short months. In 2011, it will be considered a classic which can be beneficial to you if you do decide to resell. In just a short period of time you can get a return on your investment and afford a very nice 6g or a 6g+swap with the profits. Last but not least, it is a whole other world. I love my Celica and my MR2 equally but for completely different reasons. Its like trying to say you love your sister more than your brother.... they're your siblings and you love them both- but for different reasons. I say drive it first, make sure its something that suits you. |

The only meet I've been able to count on 110% on is the Celicatech TOTD Meet. Its practically the same time every year, bigger every year, nicer every year, more fun every year and NEVER canceled. Its the only meet I've ever made $3000 worth of deposits on advance reservations for and not even thought to worry about a penny of it disappearing. I know that seems much too far for the Western group, but if you're looking for a SURE thing, its as close as you are going to get. Because of that, it is one of the only Toyota meets that has an inkling of a chance of seeing a FT-86 debut or anything else remotely sponsored, being that its one of the only meets within this community that has sure-fire track record and large attendance. http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=70936 http://www.celicatech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44139 |

Is there a diference between a gen 2 264 and a gen 3 264? some people say that there is i would like to get this cleard up. i may be in for this one Not in the BC Cams; there is not a difference. Those referring to the differences are referring to low lift vs. high lift cams. Gen 3 engines can accept high lift cams because the shim is under the bucket and is less likely to kick than the shim-over in the Gen 2 engines. This should be specified with other brands such as Kelford and HKS. Brian Crower is only offering one lift option in each duration cam, low lift 264 (easily used in stock gen 2 or gen 3 - spring kit advised but not required) or high lift 272 (modified gen 2 required, gen 3 capable - spring kit required). Hope this helps! |

I just got off the phone with usps and they say yes it will be treated as domestic shipping as long as it is in the us I don't have to fill out a customs slip. So yes I can ship you your cams and whatever else you need. So get on the list! |

Please tell me that you ship to APO/FPO . I know i read no shipping to Overseas locations, but techincally its a stateside address Anywho, enough whining, dude awesome deal , and i too was about to invest in an HKS kit. Glad i looked at this deal!! I hope that there are enough buyers though to keep this going for those who would want this option in the future. If the address is a base in the 48 states then yes I would be happy to. Is that what you are asking? |

so why would I pay now if I might be the only buyer and you would just have to refund my money?? wouldn't it be smarter to get ten buyers then take payment from all? This is highly unlikely, since this Group Buy is also running on 5 other popular 3SGTE sites. I can almost guarantee a refund will not be necessary. In Group Buy history throughout the internet we have learned that non-paid sign-ups account for about 1/5 of the people that will actually pay when the time comes. Therefore, that method has NEVER worked for any Group Buy, and often results in the failure of competitive and quality community-supported products reaching the public. This Group Buy is also running as a "gauge of interest" for Brian Crower. If the demand is very low for this product, it is not likely that they will stock cut cores. This means that all orders would be "cut to order" and will require a 14-30 day wait per order. That also does not include the shipping time for them to get to the distributor and then out to you; another 7-14 days average (unless you pay for expedited or drop-shipping). This wait has the potential to be much longer than the wait you should expect during this Group Buy, not to mention much more costly. I have 30 cores waiting with our name (MR2 Guru) on them for this Group Buy alone. They're just waiting for you to order. My goal is to sell all 30 and prove that there is the demand to keep cut cores on tap. I know that these cams are affordable enough and if they are easily acquired they should steal the market in 3SGTE cams. I am that impressed with their results. Some "Group Buys" are just short periods of discounted prices on already-familiar products. They typically use bulk orders to achieve these slightly discounted rates. That would be more a sale than a group buy, even though it does involve a "group". This is not one of those. This Group Buy is offering a NEW product at wholesale rates on a pre-release basis to our supported forums. We worked tirelessly on this project to bring a product worthy of praise to the Celica and MR2 communities, and I do hope you can join in our vision with us. |

I understand what you're saying but if there aren't 10 buyers, that price doesn't exist. Procrastination is a Group Buy killer. If you're not worried about paying regular post-release prices, this shouldn't be a problem. |

One year ago, we at MR2 Guru decided to broaden our market and delve more into Research and Development. To date we have helped develop more than 20 MR2/Celica specific products, including but not limited to the NST Clutchless Supercharger Pulley for the 4AGZE, the only Synapse-sanctioned MR2 specific adapter for the Synchronic Blow Off Valve and now these never before released Brian Crower cams, valve springs, and retainers for the 3SGTE. Brian Crower has assisted us in developing these cams for the 2nd and 3rd Generation 3SGTE with a strong partnership between power and affordability. Over the last year, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that these cams are able to reach the market - even in these trying economic times. When affordability is of the utmost importance, Brian Crower has taken the time and money to help us invest in this venture. Not only are we confident in the company and their ability to create competitive products, we also trust in their impeccable customer service and technical support. Available in two popular durations, both perform as competitively as they are priced. The 264 degree camshafts will be the most user friendly as well as cost effective. They are safe to use on the stock Gen 2 Shim-Over Bucket design or stock Gen 3 Shim-Under Buckets and do not require a valve spring or retainer upgrade. The lift is slightly less aggressive than other brands to allow ease of use with an OE or ROM tuned ECU versus the the alternative necessity of a full EMS. These cams still have a slight lope at idle for that aggressive sound, yet they will perform with the most commendable street manners. The 272 degree camshafts are some of the most aggressive on the market today. With a staggering amount of lift and a long duration, they scream for RPMs. These cams are so aggressive they will require the valve spring upgrade, in addition to a shim-under or shimless bucket design to be used. They are also intended for built/performance engines as they will require ECU and tuning modification. *These cams will create interference with piston and valve clearances, therefore we suggest a new timing kit with installation. 272s cannot be used with shim-over bucket.* 272 Degree Sound Clips = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFMowFh_2ag http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbKsByl2g6g The Valve Spring and Retainer kit adds the icing to the cake. Created for use with either set of cams, these springs have been designed for high RPMs; maintaining consistent/constant pressures throughout the power band. The retainers have been perfectly CNC machined from titanium for precise tolerances, with great attention to detail. *Retainers fit shim-over bucket and shimless bucket designs only. For shim-under bucket designs, use spring only.* Unlike most Group Buys, these cams are a NEW product previously unreleased to the public. By assisting in the development, testing, and prototyping, MR2 Guru is the sole distributor of these cams until the close of this Group Buy. Being that we have relied on the MR2/Celica communities as much as it relies on us, we bring you the FIRST opportunity to purchase these products at discount pricing before their public release. MSRP is going to be set at $592.60 for a set of 264 or 272 degree camshafts and $217.38 for the valve spring and retainer kit. This Group Buy will be offering first release pricing and exclusivity to our supported forums for a minimum of TEN pre-paid sets. Special Group Buy rates are as follows: CAMS - $528 Set VALVE SPRING AND RETAINER KIT - $187 These prices include shipping within the 48 States! I'm sorry, we do not ship overseas at this time. THIS GROUP BUY WILL CLOSE ON JULY 31st 2009!! After that date we must raise our prices closer to the fair rates of other distributors! We have one month to sell the minimum 10 paid sets to lock in this price rate before the closing date. All orders will be shipped within 14 days of GB Close. All orders may be paid to MR2 Guru at sales@mr2guru.com via PayPal. We will also be accepting Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) orders by phone for this Group Buy at (828) 254-7297 between 11am and 6pm Eastern. In case anyone is looking to meet up with others from their areas, you might want to hop on CelicaTech, since that is where most of the discussions are. Dragon Thread I will be coming from NC, but I'm headed out on Thursday the 16th, so that may not be helpful for those that are only going friday/saturday. |

RC'sDeuce Here goes the official itinerary, which we try our best to follow! (Copied from Celicatech) Friday April 17th: 8pm: Meet, Greet, Eat. Location: Cracker Barrel 9214 Park West Blvd. Knoxville, TN. Located just off of I-40/75 on Exit 373 (Cedar Bluff.) Saturday April 18th: 8am: Meet and prepare for departure. Location: Old Food City Parkinglot. This is located on Executive Park Drive, just across from the Holiday Inn Select. Just off of I-40/75 on Exit 378. Yes, just down the street from Cracker Barrel. 9am: Departure. This puts us reaching the base of the Dragon at or around 10am. Once there, we will stop for pictures and determine running order. In the event that more cars arrive than is safe for a caravan (20+) cars will be broken into groups. This is for our convenience as well as the safety and convenience of others on the road. 10am: Run! We will begin running the Dragon at 10am, either was a whole or in smaller groups. Hopefully we will be able to get several run in over the next few hours. 1pm: Pictures. We will make our way to Fontana Dam for group pictures. After these pictures, we will make our way to the top of the mountain to the church for more pictures. In these pictures I would like all cars represented and uniformly parked. This is to ensure equal exposure of all cars and attendees being visible and represented. 3pm: Cherohala Skyway. At 2pm we will depart the church and head for the Skyway. This will be a long run, so I suggest that anyone that needs gas for the next 100 mile stretch have it. There won’t be any gas stations. 8pm(approximately): Dinner. Location as of yet to be determined. As all the cars should be in a tight group, general consensus will determine. Sunday April 19th: 10am: Discussion, Show and Bench Racing. Location: Old Food City Parkinglot. This is located on Executive Park Drive, just across from the Holiday Inn Select. Just off of I-40/75 on Exit 378. All points from here on out will be played by ear. I know some folks desire a junk yard run, some would like to head to Pigeon Forge for Go-Karts and or shopping. 2pm: Lunch/Dinner. Location: To be determined At some point and time after this, we will all go our merry ways. Some folks will be in earlier, some folks will be staying later. This is only a general guideline, however, we will be trying very hard to stick to these times. Remember your Two-Ways. I will update with our channel at the time of the event. My name is Murg and my number is (Eight Six Five) Seven Seven Three Nine Seven Zero Eight. __________________ |

I'm excited, and if any of you have encountered me in chat, you know this already! We NEED more 6g's this year. We took a great shot of 4 generations last year, and guess what was missing? A 6GC! The blasphemy! Cars are coming from as far as Canada! I think I have a few 4AG, Supra and MR2 groups on the bandwagon as well. This should be BIG! I cant wait! |

Here is a good question I just thought of... Jim, you went from a 2nd gen with ct20b to a 3rd gen with the same turbo. The two motors are basically the same with the exception of the 3rd gen having a more aggressive factory cam setup and a map based efi system. How would you compare the power difference having owed both? Was it fairly similar to the 2nd gen in terms of WOT power? How about throttle response and boost lag? Id love to hear a detailed comparison between the two engines. Actually, the Gen 3 head is a whole different breed. 3 Angle valve job, revised valve angle, larger ports (more comparable to a DSM), more efficient manifolds (intake and exhaust) and a shim-under-bucket upgrade. Otherwise, the obvious being the larger injectors, re-vamped turbo and compression ratio. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Gen 3 should essentially out-flow the "CT20b" sooner than the Gen 2; in a basic assumption based upon efficiency. *shrug* |

20+psi daily on the street is not a good idea, IMO jim. i have 2 words for that. "knock, knock." emily and aaron may be able to do it for a few runs on the dyno, to put up a #, but doing it on the street consistantly is a whole diffrent ballgame. I believe Emily Hux runs 17psi daily on her Grellow car w/93 Octane. (Stock Gen 3, Intake, Exhaust, Side Mount) |

Quick question, to those other WRC engines/cars..... Where is your fuel cut? Speed Cut? My car wont fuel cut til 20psi *shrug* I hear this should be 17-18psi. Tested 2 different boost gauges, same results. Could be due to my elevation maybe. I havent hit speed cut yet. I have had her up to 148mph (looked like 150), but never hit speed cut. Not sure if there even is one. I have yet to determine if my WRC engine is UK or JP spec. Thanks! |

nice swap ! that's a great upgrade from the 165 ! I'm definitely in love. Its been so fun, its hard to convince myself to further modify it! I would have loved to have the ST205 rear diff, but maybe I will acquire that in the future. I do now have the option to bolt on the GReddy 20g, but I cant yet afford engine management so that is on hold for the time being. I cant imagine how fun it could be then! |
