Got a few questions, first off all, my 96 cel will make a grinding (sounds like metal to metal to me) when i make a right turn, specially at a semi-fast speed. it's kind of hard to describe for me since i've never heard this before. it is definetely not a cv-joint problem since i know how that sounds. any ideas what this could be???? im gonna go under the car today and try to find out but it's kinda scary since i gotta drive 1/2 hour to work and back everyday on the highway. could it be a wheel bearing problem? also when im driving forward (not turning) i feel a vibration as if i was driving on un unpaved road, if that makes any sense?

Another thing is... i took the car to have an allignment done twice and they couldn't make the car's pull to the left stop, i know this car was involved in an accident prior me obtaining it. Is this a body shop issue where they can fix the pull by pulling on the metal or something? how do they fix the problem? thanks!

Well I know that you all are saying that "ST" sucks and all that, but I have been spanking lot of cars lately...

-I wanna see who got the fastest ST
-and also to see how many GTs are spanking my ass
-SO LIST YOUR MODIFICATIONS / HORSEPOWER / AND TIMES (1/4mile)

"MY MODZ + TIMEZ"

Injen Intake w/Heatshield
Corolla 7AFE Headers 4-2-1
Custom 2.25 Cat-Back Exhaust w/C-west Mufler
Nology Wires
Nology Sparkplugs
Venom Fuel Injectors
Venom Fuel Pump
ZEX Nitrous 65-shot "DRY"
Smart Opener/HeatMask/RPM engage module
JET programing

My car was on MustangDyno this Friday pushing out 171HP (that's about 200hp at flywheel)

The car on the 1/4th mile (1320ft) was doing anywhere between 15.0 and 15.3 depending when I engaged NOS.... yea I know that's still slow... but remember that I got over 110K on the engine plus the tranny is AUTOMATIC....

do you have an estimate of the money you spent for all those mods?

$1000 - $1500?

You can also buy aftermarket exhaust, tint, clear corners, underglow, and they're illegal

i guess it depends on the darkness of the tint... and clear corners are only illegal if the light they emit aren't orange, correct? can anyone verify on this?

I finally got my cigarette lighter out and got the piece around the shifter painted. But now the light in my cig. lighter doesn't work! I checked the connection several times but still no luck... frown.gif frown.gif frown.gif

doesn't sound like a major deal, if by any chance you broke the cig lighter, get a new one at discount auto parts. i'm assuming you connected both plugs into the cig lighter?

i don't know which ones are good or not, i got one and although it was pretty cheap compared to some other ones, it has kept me out of a few tickets. it's a whistler, i believe. there are some that cost about 300 bucks scramble to police's radars and such. i bet those r pretty good. regardless, some states allow them and some don't, you can search online to see if your state is one of those who do not allow radar detectors. i know washington dc and virgina are 2 of the ones that don't allow them.

When i use the key to lock both doors from the passanger side door lock, both locks unlock/lock, but i press the lock down button from either door only the driver's side door locks. could this be the power door electric piece in the door that has gone bad or it could be a mess up from a previous alarm installation gone wacko?

has anyone else had a similar problem?

Hey guys,

I have a 96 25th year edition and my ignition key light never came on... so i took the whole plastic cover out, including the plastic that surrounds the ignition metal part where you put the key in and the only thing i found is the white plastic "sensor" that lets you know when the key is in the ignition or not, but besides that i don't see any sort of light that would be the ignition light. is this an option on some celicas? i doubt it since it is specified under the owner's manual. does anyone have any pictures of what it looks like? any ideas where it's located? etc? i guess i'm just missing the whole part. if i am, where exactly does it connect to?

Hey, I really like the automatic stick that comes with the new celicas, is it possible to just put it in our 6th gen celicas?

Oh by the way, I just thought I'd share the cool story about why I decided to buy a new wire set. Well when I bought my car I changed the spark plugs, oil, air filter all that general stuff pretty much right away. When I pulled the number 1 boot out there was some oil down there!! (Same with number 2) Awesome, turns out some people don't know how to pour oil without spilling it I guess... anyway the boots were all dirty and crusty, the wires were getting rather shot looking too. The person that had it before me was stupid, there was more oil spilled than in the oil slump! Fun times, good thing I changed it right away.

where exactly was the oil? in the spark plug chamber?

I replaced the back speakers with 6 1/2" x-plods. fit perfectly. the 6 3/4"s may fit in the back as well because it goes by where holes are placed within the speaker frame. i think you will be alright with either size, but i would recommend 6 1/2"s

man don't pay for that... i got 2 of them for my tiburon about 2 years ago ... it's easy, just be careful with your needles.

another tip... if you want to wire them to your parking lights fuse, then buy one of those in-fuse things that connect to one of your fuse sockets and it gives you a spare fuse to use. understand what i mean?

What kind of spray paint would you guys recommend on using? I have read the How-to article and I'd like to try on a few little pieces at first. Would any spray paint do? Any brand in particular to look for?

Thanks! smile.gif

if you are savvy enough and you have an alarm you can have them only turn on when you turn the alarm on or off. to blink twice or so. i had the nozzles in my 98 tiburon before it got totaled. i also put a switch though 'cos i didn't want them on all the time.

I had to create 2 wooden frames around the 6 3/4" speakers and use sylicone between the speaker/wood frame and wood frame/plastic component in door.

i'm thinking of buying a piece of wood, maybe 1/4 of an inch? and cutting it to fit the plastic on the door and screw it in, then fit the speaker on the wood by making a hole wide enough on the wood to place the speaker in.

I had read previously on different posts about the front speakers being 6 3/4"s...NOT. Got me a pair on Kenwood's KFC-1738C. They sound great but they don't fit. I am thinking of finding hard plastic and cutting it to fit the hole where the speakers go and make it a custom round frame. Maybe I can get a couple of frisbees to do the job. haha. If only the plastic on them were hard enough.

Any other ideas? confused.gif

I bought a rockford fosgate at best buy for 150 bucks. plays mp3s and it's a nice silver w/ red. I wanted red lights 'cos im planning on getting a red 'theme' for the interior. can't say it's the best. 40x4 but i like it and im not going to spend too much on a stereo where i can spend it on other things ya know? but buy what you want man, just don't buy a pyramid or something like that, stay with a brand name that will last you.

Hey Guys,

This is my first post ever. I just bought a 96 red 25th year edition celica for around 4,300 bucks. 96k miles. Runs great. Can't wait to start working on this baby. I am thinking of buying a cai for my first mod. What do you guys think? I had a cai in my previous car and I loved the sound and the extra punch it gave. Any other simple to do mods I should consider in my newly acquired celi?
