I bought my gt-s from my uncle, and he didn't change the clutch. I made 25000km in semi-hard driving and it is still the original clutch at 197000km. I guess with more power, the clutch would wear faster...

I'm just so glad to be able to do my mecanics myself....saves a lot of money !!!!
It costed me around 280$us to change my cylinder head gasket, mill the head, change the valve seals and change the timing strap.
But it's a lot of work, though....
The head set was cheaper at toyota dealer then in jobber.....uhuhuhu

Hard to pull out, hein !
I just changed my timing strap yesterday and i finally took this pulley off by hand, with a straight hard pull (fell on my back). I was beginning to get discouraged too....
Just got my cylinder head milled .015.
Waiting for my next 1/4 mile to see if I gained anything.
My 180,000km engine is almost brand new now (redone the head and all)! (haven't done the piston rings).

See if there are different gear ratio for our steering gear in your car shops.
Or may go custom, by fitting a steering gear you know is quick from another car.....what a job.....

Check the new ones you've got.
See if the brake disc comes with the wheel bearing...if so, you must take off the bearing.
If not, well, good luck ! Try to figure it out with the new one shape and all

The EGR is bolted between the air intake (right after the throttle body) and the cylinder head. Headers shouldn't change it functionnality.

Maybe just take off your egr valva (2 bolts on the intake) and check if the hole isn't blocked...Deposits may gather there and jam in the hole. Thats all I can say.....There is a vaccum line also on the Egr I think. Make sure everything's fine and blablabla....

You have 2 bolts per wheel to change the rotor and the pads....not that difficult. The most difficult part is to compress the caliper piston back.
It is more easy to change all then to clean and sandblast and paint and ....

if the steering wheel shakes...check your tie-rod ends (most) or tab bushings (less) or ball joint...
even there...i don't see why it would shake with a loose tie-rod....at least, check if you wheels are round !!! (bent rim). yeah...it could be many things.....check everything.....wouhouuuu, what a hint i,m giving you......hahahahaha.. It doesn't need a huge loose to rattle..barely visible...

neon r/t aren't fast......in my head, they are as fast as standard neons....
Some old neons with minor mods are quite fast though......some run 15,3 on the 1/4 around here....

the offset is the distance between the center of the wheel and the surface where it actually bolts on the car's hub, if you look your car from the front....so the higher the offset, the wheels is gonna be more "outside" your car (wider ).....I'm confused myself when I read what i wrote.....hahaha

Well, if you go with smaller dia., you are supposed to gain torque transfered to the road, so more torque = more power = faster......about the top speed, I don't know. Your engine'll be revving higher for the same speed, but since you have more torque, will it go faster or will you go out your power range on your engine.....???
It will be like if you change your diff ratio. Drag cars have a high gear ratio, and smaller dia wheels will give the same effect. I think this is good if you don't have lots of power under the hood.

In the eibach sportline, they say we don't need to cut them for this drop.
I never bottomed down with this car yet . Or I don't feel it...anyway...

It happened to me too last summer on my vacation trip to New Jersey.....I hit at least 5 step as you talked about on construction spots.....Came back with 3 false rims.....360$ canadian dollars to fix all this... !!(mille miglia action)

That is exactly why I got the Superleggeras from OZ.....they are supposed to be indestructible. It is worth the price to pay extra and not to get scrapped rims on the road. Up to now, they stayed perfectly round ! biggrin.gif

I just painted mine.
I strongly suggest to sandblast your stuff before. I sandblasted my calipers on the cars, but I now recommand to take them off.....you won't shoot your discs and it will be more accessible. Anyway, it is way better to remove them to paint them...But what a mess....sandblasting..hummmmmmmm.....sand everywhere in your shorts and in your car and on the ground and..and..and....

I used engine enamel a few coats, then engine enamel clear a few coats..don't by shy with coating, at first I just put 3 coats, and then it started rusting after 1 week !!!
I think the clear helps a lot, it seems thickier...

Caliper paint can resist twice the temperature of the engine enamel, but it costs more...I didn't have any peeling nor rusting since( 1 month ? ).

Spray can, by the way...

There is surely better, but it worked for me.

Painted dark grey, like the superleggeras.
If you paint colored, hope for you you can wash your calipers through holes in your wheels...it gets pretty ugly with brake dust if you don't wash them often, at each car wash...

This is pathetic.......aaarghhhhh, we're talking about eating or not civic and cavalier.......ouach, any car should be able to do this, and we're not.....arghhhh....that's a shame......What happens with this 2.2 16 v engine ???? It has the cc !!! Is it antipollution stuff, exhaust restriction ? A 1998 z24 rolled 15,2 with minor mods, vw 2,0 16 v can roll in the 14s,..and our 2,2 16v does 16-17....hummmmm.....???

well the best is to get 2 new in front and put your other 2 similar in rear....
I do have fz4 too, do you have any problems with them ????
I feel mine aren't that well stable to keep balance right...it takes a few days and the wheels become unbalanced.......and when you spin the wheel, you can see the tire swinging up and down when the rim stays straight....anyway......I prefer my old Potenza re950....

I've been thinking about this swap for a while, and my conclusion up to now is to buy a whole camry and swap all i need from the camry to the celi, and all from the celi to the camry......so you don't mess with fuel pumps, ecu and all stuff, cause you all have the original stock. And as long as i know, a camry and a celi are pretty similar. Then I get a 5sfe camry for winter or for sale, and that isn't that bad cause camrys where produced with 5sfe.....
Of course, this is all made by myself only, cause I don't pay myself......and i do have a mechanical engineering technicien formation too, and access to proper tooling......It is just lot of time, so a winter project.

But I still haven't open the hood of a camry to take measurements.......just saw pictures and it all looks pretty similar.

And this is not to get modified ! geeee, you have 200 hp and torque stock, I don't need more.....
The solara v6 manual makes 0-60 in near 7 sec......that's ok for me and this is my goal.

And the aluminium v6 doesn'y weight enough more then the steel 5sfe so you stay with the same suspension.....just swap the battery in the trunk....
So open the race for the first v6 6th gen celica !!!

What actually slow me down is money ! Hey ! like everybody ! And to find those rare v6 manual camry.....

I just put the eibach sportline with my stock shocks and up to now, no problems....
For a big 225$ canadian (160$us?), put it on myself, geeee, not too expansive for a drop...lol !
When they will be worn, I'll go for the koni yellows.
There aren't any clingclang sounds coming out from my car....the rear shocks are few months old. Usually, the rear shocks are making the noise, the other things are bushings.....this is not a lot of money to change them all and get peace for another 10 years.
But usually, the shocks are making the noises....Your bushings have to be quite worn to make noise, so if they do, change them wink.gif
