check out what mythbuster have to say about throwing it into reverse in a car. it simply won't let you complete the shift into reverse in a MT

This is what I have in mind right now
Option A, buy another 6gc and put all the mods I currently have onto that car
Option B, save up and buy the 7th gen celica Gt-s
Option C, save up and buy the rare SW20 Mr-2

What would you guys do?

I would personally do this. Did you love driving your celica?LOVE,not like. If you did i would buy another 6gc,as they are DIRT cheap in California and you already know the car pretty well and know how it drive/feels. If you decide to go with A then maybe some weekend we can set something up and i can come down and help you take some major parts off (Engine, suspension, dash ect)to part off and sell(just pay my gas roundtrip)

I am thinking of doing A. I already took most of my aftermarket parts off and put back the OEM parts. My only concern right now is my struts with Tein's springs because I have no other struts in place of it. If they take my car, the tein's are going with them and that would be a total waste!! If any of guys are running on stock suspension (strut, springs, and shocks), you could come by and swap yours with mine and don't have to worry about compressing the spring and all that difficult steps of springs. I don't want the teins to go to waste

According to www.insurance.com:
When is a damaged car considered a total loss?
Your insurance company may decide your damaged car is a total loss if:

1. It cannot be repaired safely
2. It would cost more to repair the car than it's worth, or
3. State laws require the company to call it a total loss due to the amount of damage

The other guy was trying to make a left turn at a T intersection (basically turning left into the | of the T), but he stopped when he saw my car heading straight while he had his front end of his car in my lane. I was going about 35 miles an hour (yes... speed limit was 35) and only had about 2 car length to react and break when he was in front of me. Then BAM! Now some of you might be thinking, why didn't you just swerve out the way? Well if I attempt to swerve out the way, I would have hit another car on the right and that would DEFINITELY have been my fault.

It was his fault because I had the right of way. He was driving a Ford F150 and his front bumper only got a small dent. The driver was hispanic and didn't have a drivers license (unlicensed.... no wonder right?). The F150 car has Anchor General Insurance... look it up on google cause it has hella bad reviews.

Well at least in the end, nothing major happened to me or anyone else thank god. I only have minor bruises on my right wrist and scratches my left forearm. I think they were from the horn thing on our steering wheel when the airbag deployed.

As for fixing the car, the cost of repair will be wwaaayyy more than the car's value so I'm thinking of just letting them take the whole car but of course I'll part it.

This is what I have in mind right now
Option A, buy another 6gc and put all the mods I currently have onto that car
Option B, save up and buy the 7th gen celica Gt-s
Option C, save up and buy the rare SW20 Mr-2

The desired effect of a short shifter is to reduce the distance your hand needs to move to engage the next gear, thus reducing the amount of time spent shifting, reducing wasted time between shifts, and resulting in improved performance. A common misconception in the tuning world is that a short shifter is just a chopped off version of the stock shifter. In fact, chopping your shifter has no effect on the angle that your shifter shaft travels through between gears and therefore does not reduce the shifter's angular throw.

A true short shifter decreases throw by reducing the angle that the shifter shaft travels through during its stroke between gears. By reducing the angle that the shaft travels through between gears, the distance that your hand needs to move between gears is also reduced. In many cases, the shifter shaft is also re-designed to be shorter than stock thus creating a sportier look and feel, as well as aiding in reducing the linear throw length when coupled with the reduced angular throw.

The geometry of a short shifter differs from the stock shifter in order to reduce the distance that the upper section where your shift knob threads on needs to move to achieve the same degree of movement in the lower section where the shift rod or shifter cables attach. This ensures that although your hand is moving a shorter distance, the transmission is still fully engaged in every gear. The main pivot point, or fulcrum of the shifter lever is re-positioned on the shaft in such a way that the lower section which connects to the shift rod or shifter cables is longer than stock, resulting in the desired effect.

so ive been wantin to get a short shifter for my car and i want to see everyone elses so i can get an idea of what its gonna look like! so i wanna see who has the shortest short shifter!

notice, he basically said he wants the look of a short shifter. he doesn't want function, only form.

i do agree with the rest of the guys that cutting the stock shifter shorter makes little to no difference in terms of performance. For me, the aftermarket short shifter made the most dramatic difference on how the car feels. it put a bigger smile on my face than my anti-roll bar.

as for the picture showing the selector stick when cut short (looks like about 30%?), notice that it still takes a great amount of travel between gears. not much of a difference.

if you don't wanna drill into anything you could just get this one.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyota-Celi...s#ht_2109wt_618

it'll fit perfectly and it clears the STs. I'm sure the GTs won't be that much difference either.

does the ebay strut bar make a difference in terms of handling? i want to get one too but im a little skeptical of them.

My car is kinda ricey now with the invader kit, but come on we have freaking ST's! We aren't going very fast lol
I think the celica just looks way faster than it is, and thats why cops follow.

speaking of looking fast...

Thanks Ty. I will update the list.

dst94, epocsirh, ZEROCOOL, Flyinglizard, VieT9sD, johnehh and azn87. Please choose an item to bring, from the list that CAMAricer has posted. Or come up with your own. I'm not going to force anybody to bring something, but if we don't have enough people contribute to this meet, we may not have enough food to go around. We are looking at 20+ people attending. Please do not be vague on your description of what you are bringing. If you aren't clear on what you are bringing, other people may not know what still needs to be brought.

the way i see it, if people think the 6th gen is a girl's car, it is no different than calling the infamous pure adrenaline supra a girls' car. after all, they DO both look alike...

the 7th gen will always look girly to my eyes no matter what they do to it (body kit, dropped, rims, etc...)
