Well, they are new. I'm not that dumb tongue.gif I wouldn't put a used belt on an engine.

is it 0 dollars because these parts are used?? used parts like that will only be a temp fix u realize eh, i realize your on a budget but id look into a new water pump and timing belt....alt belt dont really matter as long as its in good shape.. but if thats the case these are used parts i wouldnt touch the timung belt and id wanna be damn sure the pump wasnt gonna let go a month later

No, my friend had them laying around from when he had a prelude a few months back. He just figured "well i'm not using them, here you go".

First off, when you need a car bad, are on a limited budget and all that jazz, a $500 prelude isn't bad. It definitely looks like it's going to be a project and need some work for a while but it's still a decent find I think. Maybe not for a DD, but ya do what you gotta do I guess.

So let me get this straight, the whole issue was a timing belt? What made you think it was a bad cylinder, or was this something new that happened? I'm a bit confused.

Good luck with it all though.

No idea. But it's about a tooth off time.

Prelude issue is timing belt. So i'm replacing that as well, the water pump as well, and alternator belt...

Friend has them laying around.

Price of fix: $0.

Well, the only rust is the quarters. Normal honda rust. I know the prelude needs work. But I can't keep celica. I don't mind project cars. Biggest thing with the prelude is it has 100k less miles than celica, and its the same year. Idk, just my 0.01 I guess. I needed something that moved for cheap, and I could fix rather cheaply. The celica is a LOT more money to fix than honda. The rust i couldn't give a **** about right now tbh.

It's been stated...but I don't think this was all that smart of a decision. If the engine was running completely well, then yes, you could forgo having a nice-looking car because it actually runs when the Celica doesn't. But I mean, it's not that strong on either part...there's a lot of exterior work to do and the engine is on 3 cylinders.

Having said that, good luck with fixing her up.

Imo, the prelude moves. Celica don't. What's wierd is it only acts like that on idle, but once u actually give it gas it's fine. Really wierd. Even still I may do a small rebuild, but my friends said they'll charge me for the toyota, but not honda (they know what the hell they are doing with the f22). So I kinda save $.. Oh well. I want to trade the prelude for a celica down the line sometime.

I get the point on how it's "so much easier" to repair your Lude due to having friends. But any of your friends if they knew anything about car's would've told you this was a pass from the get go. How bad is the rust? Not a visible rust but the stuff behind and under the frame? How long to you think that CV boot is gonna hold?

I'm not "flaming" because I have nothing better to do or because it's not a Celica but telling you this because this is/will be a bad investment.

Things you know are wrong
-Rust needs to be repaired but on this car who knows how bad it's underneath
-Cv Boot/axle repaired
-Bumper
-Fender
-PS corner light
-Windshield
-Running on 3 pistons? Let's see if you'll actually repair it, if you do good for you.

Things you should change when getting a used car
-All liquids, coolant, oil, trans, etc etc
-Timing belt
-Might as well do the water pump and thermostat
-Filters
-Spark Plugs and wires
-Tires look about done, well your rear ones so start looking for replacements once your front ones finish up
-Brake pads
-etc

And how bout the suprises everyone get's when the previous owner isn't completely telling you all the known issues? Have fun finding out.

Really wasn't trying to offend you, just trying to be honest. I myself know what it's like saying oh it's just gonna be a couple hundred dollars thats all. WRONG. Just on repairing the issue's I knew it had I spent say $1,005. And then I had to buy tires, liquids, timing, radiator and quickly I was at the $2k range. And I still have to spend on the suspension, since it's worn out. I know I've bought other stuff that really wasn't necessary but this is gonna be my DD so I might as well repair everything I can now before it's on the road. Having another car to drive helped me out alot so I could take my time repairing it.

As for you this is your DD and you only current car, what are you gonna do when it fails on you? Are you able to have it down for sometime?

Take a good look at the car, inspect it for a while and REALLY REALLY think about it, is it worth putting money into this?

If anything I would part or sell this car and put it into the Celica, once again not because it;s a Celica and this is a Celica forum. If it were the other way around say the Celica was the one you just bought and the Prelude was the one you painted grey and white I would say to sell the Celi and put that cash in the lude.

Except, my father said I can't keep my celica. So...

Well.. Thing is with prelude, It's a lot cheaper to fix than celica. Seems as people are thinking i'm dissing on my celica.. I honestly don't really like honda's.. But prelude's aren't bad and it was 500 buck. It won't be too much to fix it, and I got friends who know hondas like their own mother. Owning a toyota where I live is like owning a hummer. Nobody fixes them, unless you fix it yourself. Well sadly i'm not a mechanic. I love my Celica, dad said get rid of it. Can't even give to my brother. Yeah I coulda parted celica and all that and saved my current cash and baught a probably nicer vehicle.. But I need one now. The prelude isn't insured and barely runs tbh but I am driving it anyway because I simply need a car. The whole 3 cylinder thing idc, if it blows up my friend has a f22 he took out of his accord he said he will give me for about $50(worthless to him). It's not in the prelude yet because I am too busy.

Honestly. I want to fix the lude and drive it and feel comfy that if it breaks atleast it'll be cheap to fix..

Was that a rant/flame.. idk.. but people are getting the wrong idea.. I talk **** about my prelude and idc. It pisses me off but it moves, celica don't. Bottom line.

My celica has a lot more wrong with it. With about 100k more miles. The prelude is a not as bad as the celica.. really.. lol. I personally don't really like hondas, but I give credit where needed. The celica is a turd. and will always be a turd. If you saw it in person you would probably say it belongs in a junk yard. If you really feel the celica was the better car, come buy it from me.

And atleast I can drive the prelude...

looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you man, gl and keep us updated. You should swap an h22 vtec in that, then that thing would smoke 90%+ of the celicas out there lol

I don't have cash for a h22a1 (i do want one for it, though)

Money from my celica is going toward the lude though. Maybe eventually down the line if someone wants to trade me for a celica I will. But if my prelude burries the spedo, then idk.. I haven't tried yet, I don't like speeding.

I baught a 94 Prelude S with 141k miles on it. Has a F22A1 in it.

Here is what it needs;

Bit of engine work, only running on 3 cylinders(kinda). Has compression, changed plug wire, plug, etc.. could be injector, maybe rings?

Windshield(Got one quoted, they come to house and install it, $163.. Got that cash already, but saving incase I need for engine.)

Rear quarter rust(usual honda cancer)
Drivers side rear quarter needs a bit of bondo

Small dent on passenger door(bondo, or pop back.. both? lol)

Front bumper(lol)

Passenger side fender(least of my worries tbh)

Drivers side CV Boot/axle (it clicks when you turn left, whatever though)

That's about it really. I got it for $500, and drove it back about 2 hours. Not trying to dog on Celica's, I love Celicas and all, but atm the prelude running on 3 cylinders smokes my 7afe celica.. then again I haven't driven my celi in a few months.. And the prelude made it back on 3 cylinders and such 2 hours, celica can't drive an hour without blowing a gasket.. lmfao.. I love my celica though.. Sad i gotta get rid of it(or fix it for cheap cheap cheap)... But i'm prolly gonna part it(already got a thread)

Pics.

How is the driver's side low beam? If it's in good shape, I'm willing to pay $100 shipped for it.

Idk if i've said this before in the thread, but I know i've said it.

The drivers side low beam is the only headlight with broken clips.

I want the door panels. Would you be willing to ship to 84118. And do you have the manual window handles to crank the window up and down for both sides? I see on the passenger side but no the driver side. LMK, thanks.

Yes I have both cranks. If I can find a big enough box, i'm taking offers.
