You should be able to find out if they are compatible in the Repair manual, it should tell the specified voltages at vac and boost etc. |

no, its not as easy as just moving it around. ideally you want to remove the TPS from the Throttle body, take the whole throttle body off the car. ***The TPS is in closed loop when the car is idling****. As soon as the throttle plate is touched the TPS goes from closed loop to reading resistance. You need to visually adjust it to meet these parameters, otherwise your car will end up running worse if you just fiddle with it. You can do it while it is on the car with a multimeter as well, but it is not as easy, I suggest taking it off the car and adjusting it... |

you mean Coomers car is for sale? All that hard work? If it were my I would build up a larger displacement bottom end , if it only made 130 HP 130 torque. All the hard stuff is done, wiring some tuning etc. Go 9age, spend maybe another 1500 and get it done right. increase the displacement to near 2 liters that motor would scream! |

Hey man, it sounds like your TPS is out of adjustment. And the ISCV can be found underneath the Throttle Body, its a green plug, 3 wires. Theres 2 coolant lines that run into it, and a vac hose for the PS. Alot of times the ISCV clogs up, and can cause bad idle, but so can the TPS, and i wrote some instructions on the bad idle thread. |

Ive owned alot of engines, 4age, 5mge, 4afe , 5sfe, 1mz, 4me, 7afe although i havent owned em all or even the best, I still like the 4age, The 3sg and look awesome, same with the 7mg and 2jz Even though its a small displacement motor, theres something about making a ****3 tonne of noise at high tune. - 4AGE 5mge, ive tuned to make alot of power, well torque anyways, that motors got balls and it continues down the lineage to the 7m and 2jz even though its a different family, they are cousins. The 3s series is a beast and look forward to getting my hands dirty, and then theres always your frankenstein engines, the 7age and 9age beasts that put honda engines to shame for NA performance, ok maybe not the k24 hybrid they could be a match, but all the other ones. - ive heard of a mysterious 9age engine that talk has been floating around that is putting down 300 HP from close to 2 liters. 150 HP per liter....Insane. |

First guy, fix the vacuum leak, I think those go to the AC idle up line. If that helps but still doesnt fix the problem look at your TPS, and grounds. and follow my suggesstions below. The second guy Tom88 with the video it sounds like your TPS sensor needs some major adjustment. Toyota did a decent job adjusting them, but they could be made a whole lot better. If yours is something other than Toyota which it looks like it is, maybe its just the wiring showing, I suggest going back to the original. In order to adjust your TPS you need to take the TB off the car. proceed to take off the TPS now for the adjustment, replace it back on the TB bar, depending on what type ot TPS you have either 3 pin or 4 pin will change the settings. Im going to be brief about this, if you want it in more detail i can do a write up. Study the TPS, the way its suppose to work is....THE TPS has to move exactly at the same time the throttle plate does. so the tps is off, and the throttle plate is off, you need to line these up so as soon as the throttle plate is tapped the TPS moves. there should be no slack whatsoever, otherwise this will throw your idle off, and will give you bouncing idle. and the TPS has to be off when the Throttle plate is off. Thats the one biggest thing I notice with all Toyota owners, the TPS is always out of adjustment, even from the factory they arent setup 100 percent, they are just 85 percent done well. I have a 3 pin TPS, and i can remove the back cover to see the adjustment, and what a difference it makes when its setup properly. The car idles much better, and has alot more torque down low. |
