yea i was hesitant. it sounded damn good in a car as small as the celica though. im going to return it and probably buy it again at a much lower price. i know what we did wrong with this one so i should be able to make the next one last a bit longer. |

Well it only took a little over a week. started the car and before i made it to the end of the driveway. it sounded and smelled like someone was playing with fireworks under the passenger seat. and when i realized what was happening i really hoped that it was just someone playing with fireworks under the passengers seat . My amps fried and im going to take back to best buy for a refund. Im pretty sure it came ungrounded because we couldnt find a ground under the seat so we ghetto rigged it and didnt sand down to the metal enough. |

I'm pretty sure the 3S-GTE is one of the more affordable swaps out there, period...there have been V6 swaps done, the last featured car is actually one, and a very clean one at that. The problem is that most other engines will require a bunch of different hardware whereas the 3S-GTE, especially because you have the appropriate transmission already, is a lot more plug and play. http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=53507 1MZ-FE V6 swap. i have an auto. thats the right transmission? |

The ubiquitous 3S-GTE. Turbo'd and power ranging from 239 to 255 hp for the 3rd gen. There are others, i.e. V6 swaps, BEAMS if you really wanna get into that business...but do a search, and you'll be able to get a range of so many engines you'll puke. ok. id consider forced induction but that can be pretty pricy. id like to put a v6 in there haha |

I had that exact same problem. Most strange noises my car made were only heard while i was in the car. Lemme know how that works out for you. |

if the sub blows then just replace that part with a higher quality sub I prefer Rockford-Fosgate cause they take insane amounts of abuse This is my first set. i just wanted to get a deal on everything so i went with fusion. pretty impressed but im most likely going to end up switching parts out soon and rockford fosgate is my 1st choice haha |

What are you expecting to blow? A fuse or your back window? The latter will take a ton of force. Hatch glass can flex pretty far actually. Wiring stereos is always an adventure. ive read some mixed reviews on this particular setup. some people say that they blew the sub. so far i love it. i mean i gotta fix the rattling but it sounds really good. and yes it was an adventure and i get to do it again when i replace the other speakers and the head unit. |

CORRECTION: when turned up really high the plastic lining in the back of the trunk rattles ALOT and is deffinately hearable from the outside. |

It was a pain in the ass to get wired because my head unit didnt have anything for the REM to go into so i wired it to something in my fuse box. In the end we spend 6 solid hours on this. It was the first time me and my friends had done anything like that but i would imagine the next time will take about 45 minutes . WAY more than i expected for 230 dollars (best buy). It came with sub, enclosure, wires, amp, window sticker (a necessity), everything. It bumps really hard. but not too much for the car to handle. no rattling. ill see how long i have it before i blow something. |

I install as a side job. I just did a buddy's corolla with an Alpine deck, type-s coaxes all around, and a mrp-500 amp and type-s 12" at cost + 5% and it ran him $650. For $300 you could do an amp and sub off of ebay. I run 6.5" components and 6.5" coaxes in the back with a single 10" and it sounds pretty damned close to Alpines custom CLS, cleanliness wise. Bigger doesnt always mean better. Go for the better quality and youll be happier than you would be if you just bought no-name stuff... is Dual a brand to stay away from? here's what ive been looking at because what i get for the price isnt too bad vvvvv Dual Bass Package ^^^ |

you can get some Alpin speakers on ebay for half the price -- I wouldn't go cheap on an amp - I prefer Alpine It cost me about $400 to replace my speakers and put an amp in myself, but I went with the better stuff. Amp cost me $250 on ebay and front speakers were $80 i think and rear $50 plus cables and fuse stuff. yea im not looking for top of the line at the moment. but when i bought my celica the sound system was horrible. it has an aftermarket head unit and 6 speakers. 2 in the doors 2 in the back and little 1 inchers up in the window that dont do anything. i just want somethin that bumps |

At 200-300 for all new speakers, amp, subs, amp wiring, sound deadening material to stop rattles and what sounds like full installation, I think you better look for either deals, used stuff or miracles. Are you installing this, friends, or are you going to get it installed? Installation prices will eat up most of your budget if you pay to have it done. i have people who can install it |

Define cheap. What is your budget looking like? These threads always get out of control with costs as opinions fly and preferred brands come into question. Are you building your own sub box or buying one? Do you want component speakers in your car or coaxial? You can get some decent package deals sometimes at some shops, like a box and sub for $150, for instance. If cost is a concern, see what some car audio shops have for package deals. ok well right now i access to about 200-300 dollars. my door panels shake and im hoping whoever installs my speakers can do something about that. |

Hey. my celica has some rims made by "reaction". the pics i have posted on my profile are of the rims before i started cleaning them. right now theyre mostly clean but there is white residue and hard black stuff on the edges. i think its calcium deposits and stuff from the tires. it was all on there when i bought the car. if anyone can tell me exactly what that is and what i can do to get rid of it, it would be much appreciated. ive tried products from Black Magic, Maguires, as well as CLR and nothings affected it as much as scraping has but that scrapes the rims. |
