It was behind the gearstick and handbrake, just keep taking the plastic panels off, think from memory i started with the gear surround. I gotta be honest i Still have some issues. I wonder if its just old wires not getting enough voltage/current through to the TVSS. Maybe somone more elctically minded could confirm that. |

Just in case anyone has similar issues. I seem to have fixed it. just incase anyone has similar issues. I was pressing green button on ECU a few times, as per a post on a RAV4 told me to do, but it didnt seem to do anything (http://www.rav4world.com/forums/649528-post.html) then found a manual for the TVSS V (mine was a TVSS III) (http://www.kerkerinck.de/allgemeineinformationen/tipstricks/files/TVSS_V_Set._Guide_Except_Belgium.pdf) But i followed the test steps in there and it seemed to bring it back to life. Don't know if the two things combined worked or just the last one. Hope this helps someone else one day. |

Im having issues with my remote central locking, neither key fob unlocks the car, (1999, SR) I've found the security system ECU, behind the dash, but was hoping id just find a loose wire or something, all looks ok, dont suppose anyone has any ideas??? Its not alarmed, but does have the standard imobolizer which isnt activated (hazards used to flash if i unlocked the car manually rather than use the remote) Also fond a box with Toyota TVSS just behind the gear stick, has a variable setting, but not sure what it does? any help would be appreciated. Well then, that just sounds like normal warm up. The sucking noise you hear is you IAC allowing more air to bypass the Throttle Body, allowing for a quicker warmup, thus a higher idle. When it's warmed up to the computer's specifications, the IAC closes most of the way (sucking noise dissapears) and the RPM drops to normal idle. You are just hearing it more because, when you had the stock air system on, it has mufflers and resonators built into it to muffle those sounds. thanks, I knew someone would know exactly what was going on, hoped it was something logical like that, I just hate the thought that I might be causing damage to my beloved 6gc, so thought i better get some advice |

I've just tightened all the clamps, checked everything, there's definitely no leaks, but its making a hell of a lot of noise (not in a good way) when i first start it up and still idles higher than it should/was. kind of like a sucking/hissing sound, from looking at it the induction kit seemed to be shaking around a lot as well. if im accelerating the noise goes away, but if im just cruising or stationary it comes back until the engines up to temp. Is this normal? I'm far from an expert with engines but it just doesn't seem right to me. and doesn't sound good at all. ONce the engines up to temp it sounds great and the rev's drop back down when idling. Any thoughts, comments advice would be greatly appreciated |

Does anyone know where you can get a replacement/7th gen base mount from in the UK? I've done a fair bit of searching but cant find any. My antenna extended the other day and just kept on going till it came out, but my base mount has pretty much fallen apart, so cant even replace it with the s2000 antenna which i was planning to do anyway. |

there should have been a Vac line that attached to the stock intake rubber on the hose. That should connect to the spot that you plugged up. There were no lines coming off the Stock intake, I was under the impression not all Celica's had them. Mine just had the sensor going into the actual airbox and a resornator box on the back of the hose right by the engine intake. would the Vac leak be closing itself up once the engine heats up and things start to expand? maybe i just need to try and tighten all the seals (just trying to figure out why the rev's return to normal once it gets to temperature) |

Hey, Last night I finally did my first MOD on my 7AFE, (CAI) fitted the pipe, has a whole for the temp sensor, and one for a breather tube, but I closed this off as i had no where to put a breather tube. My issue is that when i first start the car it makes a lot of noise like you can hear it sucking up the air and the rev's are about 600 higher than normal, then once the engine heats up it stops making the noise at the rev's drop back down. I'm guessing this isn't normal? anyone got any ideas why its doing it? thanks in advance. |

When I bought my celica I didnt know much about them but have since found out that it is a special edition I recently read that they only made 500 (250 in silver and 250 in black) for the uk market only. but I just found the brochure for it: http://www.toyota.co.uk/bv/1024-heritage/B...icaSR_JUN98.pdf It says that I have heated mirrors (never noticed them myself) and also that im meant to have a mesh grill (which i haven't) I'm thinking maybe the front bumper has been replaced at some point. Can anyone back any of this up? I've never heard anyone mention heated mirrors on a celica before? |

Been meaning to ask this for a while, with all the 6th gens getting on a bit now what car would you have next when the sad day comes to replace it? I looked at 7th gen before getting mine and there just not the same. |

Fawk that's awesome! I love this stuff. I plan on purchasing a roll soon and doing a few things. I found a UK distributor for the 3m stuff a while back was called william smith at the time they had it on an introductory price and would also send you out a free sample (its not very big, about 10cm x 15cm but it would give you an idea of the quality). "Order any length; from 1 metre to a full 50m roll x 1220mm wide, for only £29.99 per metre" http://www.williamsmith.co.uk/index.cfm?fu...&NewsID=200 |

I went for the standard discs and pads this time, couldnt really afford to go for the upgrade, i did get 60% off the price as well, as the place was linked to the company i work for, so that was a big incentive. just a shame they only do the standard parts. Now i just have to find the time to fit them |

Has anyone installed green EBC stuff brakes? I was looking to upgrade as the front brakes need replacing but was wondering if i'd notice much improvement. I can get standard brakes and discs for £50 through the company i work for, so im getting quite a saving, is it worth paying the extra for performance parts? |

where about did you install the solenoids? I've seen plenty of kits for the trunk door and thought i could just use one of them to do it. |

Thanks, i thought someone would have had the same issue. from what i could feel (couldn't really see too well) i think the bolt has come loose. Guess Ill have another go next weekend and take the seat out. When i was trying to find it at the boot end i did notice that my aerial seems to be letting in water, guess Ill have to try and replace that at some point as well. |

I get about 320miles out of mine (7a-FE) on average I filled it at 355 which was a personal best, but did a big road trip last week which meant a lot of motorway driving. Although I my fuel flap release thingy is coming loose, really struggled to open it today (an hour of messing to get it open) this happen to anyone else? guessing i need to take the carpet up in the driver side footwell and have a look. |

First thing, I took off my wheel the other day to get a look at my rotor, anyway the car was in 1st gear (parked, engine off) and the e-brake was up all the way. I noticed though that the rotor moved about 1/4" back and forth even in gear with the e-brake on. Is that normal? My brake will hold me on a hill when in neutral. Second, is there anything I can do to improve torque or low-end power (without turbo, cams, and supercharger). Would some kind of engine/fuel management or intake manifold work do anything at all to improve it? Finally, my exhaust is vibrating (very annoying) when reducing speed in every gear (at 2000 rpm, it's the worst). I have the header into a flex pipe into a hi-flow cat (shielded) into a welded resonator into my exhaust. It's definitely not the muffler or resonator and I don't 'think' it's the header. When I jacked up the car and started it and had my friend raise and lower the throttle, I didn't hear any vibration or rattle at all. I've had a virating type noise that i only get when i'm moving and at around 2000rpm, I recently had it serviced and they told me my front flex pipe was seriously corroded so im starting to think that this is the source of the noise. Im by no means an expert though, but thought it might help. |

Probably the antenna mast, which is pushed up and pulled down via a toothed vinyl strap. If the strap breaks the motor will run but -- obviously -- won't move the antenna. It's an easy replacement, should be less than $30 for the mast from your dealer. Pull the antenna and motor, then remove the antenna mast. Work it up and down and you should be able to tell if the strap has broken or not. If not, likely a motor issue. However, 15-year-old vinyl is prone to snapping. ok but my antenna goes up and down. I mean it goes all the way up and you still hear the motor moving it. when i try to put it down i need to push it a little bit. it only ahs one belt right? HI Slightly off your topic, but my antenna goes up once the key gets turned and the only way to retract it is to switch the engine off, Does it sound like the previous owner hasn't connected a wire correctly to the Head unit? is it on radio or on cd player? Its the standard Sony CD player that came as standard on my model, but its in such good condition for a 10 year old head unit that i suspect the previous owner had probably swapped if for an after market one and has put it back in when they sold it. |

Hi all Pretty new to celica's and messing with cars in general Had mine a couple of months and i've been looking at air filters/induction kits. Can anyone offer me a bit of advice on this one: http://www.racerbits.com/servlet/Detail?no=531 I didnt want to spend loads on one but this seems ridiculously cheap. On a positive side it has the hole to insert the temperature sensor, which makes it attractive to me as I havent done any mods to a car before. I have a 1999 1.8 7A-FE engine if it helps. Thanks |
