There is no greddy universal its a full catback made for our cars. just get a universal one with a good brand name and professionally pipe it.

Hey trdproven, today got my Apexi WS2 catback and it look so nice mate smile.gif - look so high quality - thanks for recomendations...
next week will install it and write some at the exhaust topic about it!
Also as you recomend me got the vibrant resonator biggrin.gif

cheers

This is sweet, I'm ordering my exhaust this week. I don't know if you're from the states but if you are, where did you purchase the wsII because that is what I'm getting.

QUOTE (trdproven @ Jun 7, 2011 - 6:40 PM) *
^ wow, which vibrant did you get the oval shaped one or the bottle type? what was the length? do you also have headers or matching downpipe size? That will help too.

I was meaning to pm you, is that header from ebay a good header? I was thinking about ordering it along with my Apexi WSII.

I have one a 5zigen full catback, but its a shame you are so far, shipping would be expensive unless you don't mind the price.

this picture is not exactly, only for illustration but the same model.

What is the full name of that exhaust and is it a 2.5 inch? I like that set-up!

It's discontinued. If you really want one, you'll have to wait till a member sells theirs.

I thought so, thanks for the feedback!

Do they still make the Greddy SP2 universal exhaust? If so where can you order it?

Thanks!

^ Yeah, let us know if the performance changes at all. 2.5 on a normally aspirated engine might be too big.

What would happen if you put 2.5 on? Would it really lose power?

i have heard even material of the header makes a difference, cheap stainless steel won't sound as good as DC headers for example. I think he meant to add a cat later, although the cats main purpose is for emissions, it does assist with the overall sound of the exhaust.

Okay so my question to you... if it were you, would you get a header and if so what brand? I've heard of DC but do they make headers for the 7A-FE. And can you add a cat. to a custom exhaust, I mean you can but how does it work?

QUOTE (Spartacus94 @ May 17, 2011 - 12:23 PM) *
I'm about to have this done to my 94 ST! I ordered headers, a cherry bomb (glasspack style) resonator, and a high flow muffler canister style with a 4in tip (burnt) but I'm using a 2.5in piping mandrel bent from the headers back with no cat. I'm looking to have a nice deep throaty tone and be very loud!!! biggrin.gif:D I will post pics of the before and after and maybe a video if it sounds decent on camera.

What header did you get? And yes I'm doing 2.5 inch piping as well. You sound excited like me! This will be my first engine mod!

No no the header make the exhaust louder. And he is talking about cutting a Greddy exhaust off of another exhaust setup. Look for the corolla header for the 7AFE it has to have a section welded on to attach to the stock exhaust but if your going with a full custom exhaust it won't matter anyway.

If it were me since your taking the cat away when you get the headers then I would add one later in the piping. Atleast that is what I plan todo. But it is your car do what you want.

Add one what? A Cat or header? And is the Corolla Header sufficient and worth the money? Will having a header make more of a "riced out" sound or will the exhaust just be louder, not annoying?

Anyone know of a good set of front and rear splitters off an SS-III to fit a '96 ST?

I see, its a ST didn't catch that, i recall seeing pure bolt on headers before, you can't find anymore?

My ideal setup would be an ultraquiet resonator from vibrant, and for the muffler, a tanabe universal, apexi ws2 universal, or a cut off a greddy one thats not being used but then again if you could that means the greddy resonator would be there too.

If you plan to get headers, sound will change, a bit louder, sometimes raspier, cus you lose the 1st cat at the exhaust manifold when you replace it. and if yours is not a cali version celi, which has 2 cats, then that would be the only cat you have thus you have no more cats making it straight piped for the most part. Ill tell you that with a cat it sounds better but if you want better flow, remove it, kinda changing the sound a bit, but if your only for sound, the setup mentioned above will work well. it'll be deep and subtle. generic mufflers and resonators have high pitch raspiness

First off, what do you by cutting off a greddy muffler? And I have the base 7A-FE engine in mine and so a header will make it sound louder? Is it a loud annoying sound that will take the exhaust sound away? Mainly I want a rich clean and deep sound coming off my car, I know our cars aren't the fastest but I wouldn't mind gaining a new increases from the exhaust as well. So do you suggest de-cating it or keeping the cat on? Get a new one? And yea about the header... do you know if there are more blot-on's anywhere if I decide to go that route? ALSO I def. want my muffler being angled out to the right a bit, I don't know if there is a term for this kind of muffler. I think you know what I'm talking about.

for a custom exhaust make sure you use good resonators, aftermarket brands that offer it are vibrant and magnaflow, cus greddy for example doesn't sell it separately. if you want a quieter sound you get the oval type resonator and a longer length for example. for your muffler canister, use a good one from tanabe, apexi ws2, magnaflow, etc. they come as universal mufflers so that you can pipe it yourself or if you can get a branded one off another car like a greddy, then cut it off that and custom pipe it after with proper hangars. i would also recommend a custom downpipe since our stock ones are pea shooters, reason i say that is you are defeating the purpose of putting a 2.25 or 2.5 exhaust pipe when the stock downpipe is like 1.75. I felt a difference in sound and feel when i changed this.

and use a good pro bend instead of those lousy bends mentioned by Smaay. wish i could sell you my 5zigen catback, but it would cost a pretty penny to ship it back to the mainland.

I'm sure you have a pretty sick set-up but yea my price range has to stay where it is. But I'm no genius about knowing what exhaust set-ups are good and what are bad. I don't want that ricer sound in the high rpm's so what muffler do you reccommend aftermarket wise? And also I need a new exhaust manifold, so I looked into a header and only found that ebay header, which is short a few inches or so hooking up to the cat pipe? What would be your ideal set-up?

I need information on the 7A-FE engine and etc. I know there are forums and posts on here I'm sure to help me out with but is there a site just for the 7A-FE with information on it? I could use some major help with this process because in the Fall, I 'm rebuilding and I need to know what I'm doing and what performance parts I'd like to get.

i drilled the holes. Invisible with USDM stock (non clear) headlights.

Thanks for the input, I'll re-seal them as good as I can and drill two or three holes in the bottom of each houseing.

I got two new high beam houseings about 4 months ago and I made sure everything was tightly sealed up. But when it rains, water and oxidation forms on the inside of the glass lenses. So can anyone please help me solve this because it looks bad and there is a water level forming on the botton of each housing (filling up with water).

Thanks guys!

Checked the fuse and it was fine, switch isn't broken, I tested it with a multimeter...both wires for my fogs are plugged in, so it's gotta be the relay. Thanks Malpaso!

Is there anywhere else you can order a relay from because my local Toyota dealer did not have them?

Will a Exedy Stage 1 Clutch for an ST be compatible to a 3SGTE engine's transmission?

I just got fog lights and I believe my car is pre-wired for them. I see that there are two plug in's, one being grey and the other being black (both not being used). So what are they and which plug in is for the fog lights?

Thanks!

I have a '96 and am getting a new headlight switch w/fogs. If anyone can help, is the new switch just plug-n-play? Obviously, the car is pre-wired for fogs lights, so I am thinking I just need to hook up the new switch.

Get back at me!

Thanks!

If you're pre-wired (Like I was) then you just need to replace the turn signal/headlight stalk with the one for fog lights. You already have the fuse, relay and everything.

Take out the top lid, there should be two screws on the turn signal "block thing", unscrew that, and pull it out sideways. The steering tilt thing might be blocking the way a bit, so curve it towards you when you pull it out.

Yes, plug and play.

Thanks guys! I appreciate it. I'm putting 12,000K h.i.d.'s in the fogs smile.gif

you need the switch as well as the relay, it is much easier to just run an aux switch for the lights, thats what i did
PS, click on the meet thread, you should come

And where is this meet being held? smile.gif

It's all good, I like opinions. I def. need to learn a crap load more before I do anything to the engine but the car needs something done to it in the Spring and that is my deadline, so what would be the best bet in your opinion?
