the 96+ have the crank sensor intergrated into the oil pump housing, and the trigger wheel for it is intergrated into the crankshaft t-belt pully. you will need to swap those over, along with the distributor, ect. Good point. I thought when he said dizzy i thought he knew to swap all obd2 sensors over. Because if those sensor isnt in there he'll be throwing CEL. In a sense putting in an obd1 motor could be a task. I'd recommended just putting in same year motor or newer. |

Oh my, the threads started these past few days... I notice, but it doesnt say anything about making the full mr2 complete change over into the 6gc engine bay. Want to know if someone has done it? Because if someone has i would like to see their mounts fabrication or maybe even pay for them to make me one. |

I will also be going in my 6gc if i do buy one in time. Might be rolling through with ZeroCool if i do not make a purchase. Went to the last 6gc meet in nor-cal and loved it. It was very well organized. ZeroCool's 6gc finally grew on me and now i want one.LOL |

Do girls look at the performance specs of cars at all? Doesn't help that between the JDM spec models SS-I through to SS-III none of them have any tell-tail signs of being any different from the outter appearance except in 1998 when the SS-III got extra pieces of body kit around the corners and a WRC style spoiler. My old '96 SS-III got pointed out as a girls car many times, whereas the ST205 bumper and bonnet have more of an aggressive look to them which make it look more like a mans car even if one had no knowledge of it being 4wd manual turbo Agreed! We need a start a sticky on how not to make your car look girly.LOL. I seen some ST205 replica's up close and they look no way close to a girls car especially if you lower your car for that aggressive stances. Maybe some manly 18 inch wheels will set it off as a mans car. I owned a mazda miata once and some girls said it was cute. But i made it manly cute. I lowerd it and had a crome roll bar installed. My buddies complemented me on it. Plus it was a fun RWD sideshow doughnut spinning car. I miss that girly looking car. Plus dont we all give our cars a female name. Car = 2nd wife or gf. LOL |

tried searching but since the search doesn't allow for two character searching....i have a 96 chasis and the 95 motors are cheaper to replace...what i know that i need to switch over= EGR, Dizzy, and i think the coolant housing with the sensors...anything else did i overlook? thanks guys You'll need to reuse your 96 complete intake manifold and exhaust manifold to keep it OBD2. Because all the OBD2 emissions equipment you want to keep. |

Option 1:Rebuild the engine only if you know your way around it or would like to have some experience. It will save you money but you will have some down time on the car if its your only vehicle. Because some shops will take about a day or two to rebuild your head if they are busy. Option 2: Pay a little more and find a good running motor.Drop it in yourself and get it running in a day.(may be you can even get one for less than rebuilding the head.) Option 3: If your not mechanically incline to do option 1 or 2. Its cheaper to source out a motor and have a shop swap it. Some shops will charge almost the same or more if they pull the head off and reinstall it. Per price for parts and labor. Junk yards will have the motor for relatively cheap if you search and know how to find a good motor. This would be the route i would take if i want to get my car back out on the roads asap. If you want go ahead and rebuild the head or block i recommend finding a reputable shop and shop around for the best prices if you have a spare DD. Good luck. |

Anything not NGK or Denso will make your car run not the way it suppose to. Especially imports. I've experienced it with many of my cars. Just recently a friend got his 6gc out from a shop. He got home fine. Then he tells his car idles funny and he wanted me to a adjust the idle air. I listened to the car as he gave it some gas. 2000 rpm and above it sound ok but with little sputters. But when at normal idle you can tell its sputtering really bad. I told him its misfiring because of fouled plugs. Little did we know while test driving the CEL came on. Went and bought some NGK's and replace it with the cheapo's that where installed. Ran perfect after a few seconds of start up. CEL still stored in ecu, scanned it and cleared misfiring code. Never came on since. So dont go cheap on the plugs especially for imports. It can cause other money eating problems like frying your distributor.$2.49 each for some ngk will save you time and $$$. Just my .2 cents. |

Us Cali folks have major smog laws that makes it hard to swap in engines and make it ok to smog. This is also my first Toyota swap plus im going to be force inducted. I have experience with honda and know my way around engines. Its simple making them street legal. Knowing how the state ref works. If i can swap in a complete mr2 transplant, being the 3sgte from that car made it here to the US shores i can get it to pass the BAR program and smog it. I now if i can get the USDM 3sgte to pass the state ref. I can use any JDM 3sgte because they have more power output and responds well to mods. Has anyone did this swap? May be its possible with custom mounts just like hondas? Once done the JDM 6gen Celica 3sgte might be an option. |

ZeroCools car is going to be repaired, plus a new paint job. Going to be coming out to a street near NorCal in showroom condition. Sure glad the storm didnt hit us during the meet that day. |
