Hunting for some injector insulators / lower seals, one efi spares company has said all toyotas use the same injector insulators?

I've checked ToyoDiy and got pricing from toyota but they like gold for some small rubber seals! been quoted from efi spare parts stores like between 70c - $2.00 each!

i haven't got the old ones to work off as the head was rebuilt.

for a 1997 Toyota Celica Engine 3S-FE model ST202

thanks guys! laugh.gif

You can raise the rpms by tightning the throttle cable near the throttle body.

yeah tried that but its at its extreme, how do you alter it at the foot pedal if you can?

Is it possible to raise the rpm ? this vehicle has no distributor it has 2 coil packs.

once this vehicle is warm it idles very very low like 400rpm, and idleing at so low it almost sounds like its missing....

with a little juice and raising the rpm to about 700-800 rpm she purrs.

again thank you so much to everyone for all your input.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

no, no oil.

repeatedly pumping the brakes can raise your idle, thats normal. but hitting them once and that raises the idle alot while they're held is not normal. the power steering should raise the idle, thats normal.

no oil?

Hi Guys update, new battery cleaned iacv and took for a drive, it didn't stall on me when i come to a stop but still idles very low.

At low idle, the car sounds like its missing, up the revs slightly (like 100-200rpm - or even just turn ac on) no problems, no missing.

the problem still persists with when idling and you press the brake revs go up the faster you push the brake the revs will raise and sit at about 1100rpm... now also turning the steering wheel does the same thing but not as bad as the brakes.

when i pull the big hose off the brake booster it oil gonna go everywhere??? any tricks to this test?

please pplz any help greatly appreciated its driving me nuts!!!

for 1 and 2 - check your alternator.. it could be that the alternator is having a hard time providing current to the brake lights in the lower rpms, while the other components needed to keep the car running (ignition) isn't getting enough juice dropping the rpms lower and cause the engine to 'struggle'.

3 - replace O2 sensor

Hmm, well the car is running on an iffy battery so could that be half my problem?? Also on the intake plenum top left if standing in front of engine there is a black valve with a vacuum feed on it, not sure what it is, i broke the tip of it so hose couldn't go on but i grabbed another one off of a toyota camry, would this have any effect ?

Hi guys,

Just had the head rebuilt on my 3sfe 1997 ST202 celica.

After being put back together couple weird problems.

1. If the car is started and just left to idle no problems, when you push the brake down it lowers the revs and as soon as you release the revs go up?! air con is off.

2. Once the car is warm and you drive it when coming to a stop the car wants to stall and die. air con is off.

3. when you drive the car at cold runs like a dream. once warm the above problems start. air con is off.

4. Car Temp gauge always sits about half way has done since i bought the car but lift the bonnet and you can feel the engine heat! it runs pretty hot. is this normal?

now the only thing i changed which is not from this engine is that black air valve on the top left side of the intake manifold. i accidently snapped the plastic tip so just grabbed another from a toyota camry. don't know if this will have anything to do with it or not.

when head was built, new gaskets from block up, new spark plugs, filters, oil, anti freeze.

any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks again.

Hi guys. just had head rebuilt as it was due for a timing belt change so done all the regs that need to be done ie water pump etc etc etc. head is back on, now i don't have a 3sfe manual but have a 5sfe which i have been told is identical.

Car runs how i have set it up but stalls when cold when warm idles very low. drove it around the block picks up speed nicely when slowly accelerating but try and give it some juice and she starts to chug about.

i strongly believe its a timing issue and due to no distributor its hard to advance or retard!! but at idle and with a timing light its idleing at about 15 BTDC and it should be sitting around 5-7 BTDC i believe.

ok. Crankshaft - no brainer set pulley to 0 BTDC.

Clynder head - now this has 2 marks see pic below. (bad drawing sorry!)

which is the correct one???? i have used the one according to the book.

or can anyone tell me to move the camshaft cog a couple or teeth left of right on the timing belt to correct?

Thanks heaps guys!!!!

What are you removing the head for? A 3s-ge head will be no use for you even though it fits.

Nevermind that, I saw your previous posts. Blown head gasket? Wow on a 3s-fe how do you manage that

yeah ask my wife smile.gif

at the moment i am stumped with getting the bottom pulley off as i will replace timing belt whilst i am at it. any easy way?

Hi Guys! Any help greatly appreciated. So far have pulled exhaust manifold off removed water connection and unplugged all connections passengers side of the vehicle. I read somewhere i can remove the head with the intake manifold still attached? do i need to remove the engine mount on the timing belt side? any help / advice would be awesome! also wanted to pull the oil pan off and just give a clean but this looks like a mission! like remove engine type?? as pan goes under a lip where the transmission is? is there a way to do this without removing the engine??

If anyone has a spare pdf manual for me that would be awesome to! smile.gif

Thank you for all your help!

11115-74110 that is the part #.
they were probably only looking in the EU version of the EPC, which does not contain parts listings for the 3sfe.

Hey presure2 thank you for this! bowdown.gif it will be very helpful for future reference! you not from nz are ya? the parts company i am dealing with is BNT Automotive, they said they would need to call there supplier to get details etc hence why I was just asking if any of the other celica engine head gasket kits are the same? as mine... confused.gif

Thank you!
