bloodMoney - Definitely agree about the bleeder screws. Planning on replacing the calipers, lines, rotors and pads... Now, the question remains: OE replacement (possibly with drilled and slotted rotors), or st185 brakes? I have a lead on a set of 185 front calipers, rotors and pads for $50, but I'm wanting to step back to factory 14" wheels for simplicity sake... Either way I'm going with braided lines though. Another thought here is cost of the drilled/slotted rotors... I can get the ones I have replaced on warranty (same with pads). I also have no idea what I should expect as far as chasing down 185 rear brakes and what I'd have to do for the parking brake to still work.

As far as springs, do you have any you'd recommend? The cheaper the better on this, considering it's my (fun) daily driver and will doubtfully ever see the track. Dirt/mud and gravel roads as well as windy hill-side highways around where I live though, is another story all together. Bottom line is, I'm not trying to sink a boat-load of money into this one. Planning on taking the 94GT with the WRC swap to an AWD platform once I rebuild it...

If I go the 185 brake rout (probably will, pending your next suggestion), would the 205/55/15's be the best option for 15x6.5 wheels? Also, do you have any recommendations as per cheap-er-ish tires and a cheap source? Ideally I'd love to go with Yokohama AVID TRZ tires, but money is an issue at the moment, and it's not "The Monster" as Andrew (the friend who was with me) started calling it after that Celica meet.

And honestly, I'd rather just get information on this thing from people on here (such as yourself) who not only have these cars but who I know are experienced and knowledgeable with them (again, such as yourself). That, and I'm more familiar with this site than altrac.net lol... Also, any idea when there might be a meet in MO?

soulshadow - Lol, nice try friend... But this car has become a part of me now, and it's staying in the family. tongue.gif

Okay, so I know this isn't exactly the best place to post this, but I've been a member here for a while and learned a LOT in the past from people on this site and really have nowhere else to ask this.

I have an 88 Celica All-Trac (as well as two 94GT's), and I'm having problems finding ample information as per options for better brakes and suspension. Right now I'm running 15x6.5 or 7 Motegi Racing rims with 195/60/15 tires which are WAY too narrow for the rims, not to mention way under the proper load rating for this car. I also have the factory ST-165 brake system and suspension. I recently replaced the front strut inserts and upper bushings for the front struts, but she's still running the factory springs. I also have to get new wheels/rims, as one of mine is badly damaged and at minimum rear calipers as mine are on their last legs and currently have to be line-bled because of broken bleeder screws.

I would like to:
1) Increase braking - My 94 GT that's actually running has SUPERB brakes (factory), and will stop on a dime without engine-breaking, and faster with. The pedal responds right away, and is FIRM. I would like to figure out an option for the brakes on this car to get similar braking ability, or at least be capable of locking up the tires and/or stop the car in under 100 feet. The brakes that are on there now are soft and feel like they're having a hard time stopping the car. Would steel braided lines and drilled/slotted rotors do the trick, or would I have to put something larger on there?

2) Stiffen suspension - The current set up feels way too soft and allows too much body roll, as well as affecting acceleration and deceleration, which I think is another part of the braking issue. I'm trying to avoid spending $1000 here, so any possibility of sticking 6gc springs or something under the towers for a more firm suspension without lowering?

3) Normal average every day sized tires with better brakes? Because the tires that are on there now occasionally rub on the fenders and are still too small for these rims, I'm wanting to go back to the factory 14x6 wheel size with 195 or 205/60/14 tires. The problem with this is it won't allow for larger brakes, unless I've missed something.

What options do I have? I've considered going drilled/slotted with braided lines for the brakes, but that's almost as expensive if not more so than the ST-185 brake set-up from what little I know... I also don't know if the larger calipers and rotors will bolt right up or if I would need the 185 hubs as well, but I do know it requires minimum 15" rims, which brings the fender rubbing into play. I also don't know if the drilled/slotted with braided lines would give me adequate results.

Any input is greatly appreciated, I'm between a rock and a hard place right now.

Right now I'm not sure if I'm going to police academy or if I'll have the money for this (depends on weather or not I'm accepted), but IF I'm able to buy this, I'm not sure if I need the tranny or not. I still have an e154f from _Jim_, though literally EVERYTHING else I got when I bought my 3S and E153 from him needed repair/replacement. I also wouldn't be interested in the differential, as it's open and I won't use an open diff in an aws, though perhaps it would be nice to have it temporarily IF I can't find/afford an LSD differential...

Putting it simply, you said $1300 for everything listed... How much for everything minus transmission and differential (how much WOULD you sell for even if you're not currently willing)?

That is SAD... And yea, putting durability of metals in vehicles into perspective, I nailed a white-tail doe at about 40mph in a ford ranger a few weeks back, and it bent something which pushed the bumper back about an inch... deer couldn't have weighed more than 100lbs, and i was only doing 40... yet i can beat the **** out of that same bumper and no movement what so ever. doubling the weight and speed along with cutting the strength of the front end in half, it's easy to see that kind of damage... still a sad situation though.

I'll let y'all know if I end up with the same/worse luck once I finally get my 3yr FF/3S-GTE swap running... richee3 knows exactly what I'm talking about.

QUOTE (Rider @ Oct 19, 2011 - 1:58 AM) *
(almost) EVERYTHING MUST GO

It's a red GT Coupe with almost 194k miles on it. No sunroof, 6-speaker system for those interested in headliner and door panels.

Everything that I can take off myself and isn't too big ships from New Jersey via [your choice]. If it's big/heavy (e.g. the entire interior) or I can't remove it fairly easy (e.g. rear motor mount), I'd rather you pull it yourself. Make an offer for whatever you want. For parts that come in 2s (or 4s, or whatever), I'd rather sell them as a set.

Recently changed (within the past year):
Front, Rear, Tranny Mounts (Anchor brand, last month)
Sleeved the pipe that runs from the flex pipe to the cat. There was a flange there, now there's a sleeve because the stress that the bad mounts caused broke the flange (last month)
Air Intake - Replaced with K&N and black metal short ram. Practically new (less than 5,000 miles on those)
Timing Belt, Water Pump (new, not rebuilt), Thermostat, Water Pump Gasket (this spring, less than 15k miles ago)
Spark Plugs (NGK Iridium), Spark Plug Wires (NGK OE), Distributor Rotor, Distributor Cap
Belts (Power Steering, Alternator, and whatever the third one is)
Valve Cover Gasket, Tube Seals
Struts (KYB), Strut Mounts, boots, and bump stops
Left Axle/CV/whatever it's called

Also changed, but a little over a year ago: Flex Pipe

Things you don't want because they're in crap condition:
Left axle
The power steering system as a whole - if you want certain parts, I'll inspect them and tell you the condition, but something somewhere is leaking so you definitely don't want the whole system
Trunk lift struts
Left low-beam
Cabin air filter
Certain parts of the interior - ask for specifics and I'll send you pics of them
Head unit (aftermarket, CD player has problems)
Gauges (Reverse Glow, but with LED issues)
Driver's side window regulator/motor
Front right bottom speaker from 6-speaker system

Non-Standard Parts:
TRD Shift Knob
K&N filter and short ram intake (see "recently changed")
Wheels are 17" Scion tC rims (not the new ones). Pretty bad curb rash on the rims of all 4; BARE RIMS, I had to move the tires to the new car
Tanabe Lowering Springs. 2.2" in the front, 1.5" in the back.
Not sure if the clutch is OEM. I just know it was changed before I got it (around 80-90k?).

SOLD (or promised to people):
Air bags + controller
Alternator
Climate control unit (the box with the knobs and the two cables)
Valve cover + nuts
Window trim

Anything else, make an offer!

how much for what's left of the car (minus engine and transmission)?

if the price was lower and/or i had a price for the engine and transmission that was fair, i'd be interested. if you can work with me on either, PM me.

I'm bringing:
Gas Grill
Gas
Plates
Plastic wares
Paper plates
Cups
Paper Towels
Baby wipes
Condoms
Anal Lube

i could have definitely used the lube, 'cause karma apparently felt above the condoms...

and yea, i made it back ok... took until 4am 'cause andrew insisted on still going by the strip club on the way back... sadly, in the same note as the rest of my life, my car's having problems getting proper lubrication at the moment... chris was right about the piston rings i think, 'cause my oil smells like 93 octane. i guess more than just the turbo, ecu, alternator, catalytic converter, charge cooler level sensor, and distributor cap were crapped out on the motor i got from jim... apparently so were the piston rings, power steering pump, and dump valve. hopefully by the time the spring meet comes around i SHOULD have a new 3S in there. as soon as i come up with the $2k or however much for a new 3rd rev 3S or at least a long-block (with power steering pump and dump valve, and probably map sensor, O2 sensor, and tps sensor since those are about all i haven't already had to replace off this engine)... since everything's already set up and i know what it looks like, this time i will be doing the swap myself. anyone in the st louis area have an open garage i could use? rolleyes.gif

as of right now i've got a gen7 gts (Eli) and a gen5 gt (dave) coming... i dropped an invite on every celica in town as well as a few in the neighboring towns... so i guess we'll see who all shows up from this area.

and don't feel too bad manda, neither of my celica's came with a boyfriend. however i've had a few offers for installation, but the price was pretty steep. wanted my money, dignity, and man-ginity... kindasad.gif

LOL, makes sense... i don't exactly know what's up, but for some reason my 5S celly seems to decide when she does and doesn't want to run fast, and i would be nervous to go up against a mustang other than an LX... the other day it got smoked by a SENIOR CITIZEN in a stratus... neither the driver nor his wife had any teeth, and both looked to be in their late 70s... confused.gif

and the dude's mutsang has a few intake and exhaust mods, i personally like his car even though it is a mustang... nothing else sounds like it, and that thing does pick up and go. but my 3S celly would take it.

im pretty sure i remember something about jdm having a internal egr.

also can someone confirm that jdm emissions are a lot stricter than they are here.

CONFIRMATION: i spent 18 months in japan, their emissions are VERY strict. more so than anywhere i've been in the united states. that's why we're able to get a lot of jdm parts from over there, lol... they're not allowed to run some engines because of emissions... i only saw 2 GT-Four's when i was there, and both were owned by american military. shortly after they were released, emissions tightened... i think the few that are still in operation over there were garaged and such since then and are now old enough to be driven legally, because both of the ones i saw were the early years of the gen6... i think one was 94, and the other dude said his was a 95 if memory serves...
