I have a sunroof that doesn't open. You can have it seeing that you will probably be able to fix it.

I'd take you up on that if you were local lol.

It's hard to tell without seeing the roof itself and the button panel, but it could be a dealer installed roof which are notorious for stripping gears and of course the parts are no longer available. Someone else here somewhat recently had the same problem with a dealer roof actually.

Yeah that's me, still just chilling with a busted sunroof that doesn't open and is now starting to leak into the cabin in certain conditions.

evilkeo I wish I could pay you to 3-D print a gear for my sunroof, but unfortunately my car was missing the gear when I bought it. So there's just empty space where the gear should be. I have photos from elsewhere of what the complete assembly (including the gear) looks like but that's not really any help.

I went into a lot of detail about my dealer installed sunroof in my progress thread if anyone wants to read up: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...p;#entry1093496

Dude, that sucks about your non-OEM sunroof! It'd be really hard to do it without knowing the exact measurements and I REALLY doubt plastic would hold up or even work once to directly drive the worm gears. How handy are you with a Dremel? lol

Curious to see if it will hold up. I've read about others 3D printing gears, but they did it out of Nylon, which is stronger I believe.

On the other hand, I know folks do 3D print out of ABS gears for the mini milling machines, and they do last but not for very long. I guess it may depend on how much you use it.

Ditto. Not sure if it'll last very long. I think as long as I'm not pushing it and grinding it should be okay. I've been looking into annealing plastics as well so that may be in the pipeline for v2. Supposedly adds alot of strength and heat resistance to even pla.

most likely a gear inside the motor sheared it's teeth and thus doesn't retract the sunroof anymore.
take out the motor and have a look. there's a writeup on here about cleaning your sunroof drain tubes, should give you the same directions.

Awesome, thanks! Might try 3d printing a replacement gear then lol

Slowly fixing issues in my el cheapo 94gt that I recently traded for. The sunroof will tilt up and down, though the buttons seem to not work correctly. Then it won't move further and will just buzz a bunch. How do I diagnose the issue? It's new to me so I don't know the history but the car came with an old switch so the owner attempted that. New switch is from the junkyard so it could still be faulty. What else should I look at?

Edit 5/5/18: you guys were right about the gear being stripped. Tried my hand at 3D printing a replacement in ABS! Not perfect but not bad!

Yeah, the hood had a limb fall on it and the rear driver quarter has a bad bondo job that's cracking. A good bit of hail damage as well. I was just looking for a summer project type car to occupy my time so this will be perfect because there's so much that needs to be done lol. Might even try my hand at the bodywork since I've never done any before. Currently planning on a chalkboard flat black paint job so my kids can draw flames on it lol. Can't take life too seriously!

I recently traded a PS4 plus games and $200 cash for a 94GT 5 speed plus extra parts in the trunk(new shocks, clutch and flywheel). Previous owner daily drove it and 6 years ago replaced the cv axle, realized he forgot to replace the seals, tried to pull the new cv axle out and it wouldn't budge. Half of it disconnected and after days of trying he gave up and let it sit for 6 years.
Recently, he went to get it ready to sell and found that a rat had eaten the plug wires. He replaced them and it started right up. The next day it wouldn't start so he popped the hood to find the rat sitting on the valve cover eating the new wires.

I traded for it and have since replaced the plug wires and she starts right up again! The cv axle really was stuck in there good but a cut off wheel and slide hammer got it out.

Oh and I think a car wash added like $200 in value lol

Needs:
New cv axle
Battery
Alternator(I think it's shot)
Windshield
Crash bar
SO MUCH body work
Sunroof work(only tilts and then buzzes a bunch)
Interior deep cleaning
Just about everything lol

But it's about $100 and a trip to the junkyard from being drivable.

2 month bump, lol. yup wannabe, you were right. my wife has been driving it to work and she told me it's making a noise. i took it for a drive and there's a HORRIBLE grinding noise(front driver's wheel) if i get it up to 30. it sounds a little better at higher speeds though.

brought it to a local mechanic and they said i need to replace the hub and wheel bearing- $320. i called another mechanic and they said there's no hub on the front and a wheel bearing replacement would cost 180.

input?

Just bought a 94 Celica GT and both of the windows mechanisms are shot. I need the regulators w/ motors for both sides. Let me know if you have some and how much you want, shipped to Arlington, TX 76015.

I just put it on jack stands today and the axle nut WAS a little loose. I tightened it up and it doesn't wiggle anymore. I haven't driven it yet, but hopefully it'll help. I'll go try to wiggle it up and down later. Thanks for your help guys.
While I was working on it, I found a big rubber block spacer between the coils of the springs. It has a '3" on it. Almost seems like it was left on when installing the springs. Other side didn't have it. I just slid it off. Ideas?

I just bought a 94 GT and I'm trying to get it put back together and (legally) drivable. Current issue I found while I was getting my tires replaced. The guy was putting my driver's front wheel on and said that the wheel was wobbling after he tightened it. He said the CV axles looked new, so maybe they didn't tighten them up enough. With the lugs tightened up, you can still tilt the wheel back and forth.

Is there more to this than just buying the axle nut socket and tightening it? Do I just pull the pin out and replace it with another when I'm done? Anyone know off the top of their head what size socket I need?

I'm having a problem with my reverse lights in my 94 auto gt. Brake and tail lights work fine, but the reverse lights only go if I push the gear selector forward and to the right while in R. I searched around on here and found a few threads suggesting the back up switch on the transmission. Is this switch the same on an automatic? Is there any sort of switch on the gear selector? Trying to get this car inspected this week!
