^^ now that is nice. too bad toyota aint pushing for sports cars.

Toyota and subaru are working on a coupe together. I dont really know all the details but the toyota version is believed to be a 2.0 or 2.5 n/a RWD. supposed to be high n/a output and fairly light weight. Subaru verison possibly haveing one of the turbo platforms and maybe even AWD

As for teh original post. the 2010 sti is hatch only. 2011 sedan and maybe hatch as well. Subaru has much better reliability than the EVO, but the EVO is a much better building block for big performance. The 09/10 WRX ran 0-60 faster than the STi because the STi needed 3rd gear to hit 60. this can be fixed with a tune on stock parts Otherwise the STi beat it out. the WRX is definitely a solid performer still. The 2011 WRX hatch and sedan will both have the wide fenders like the STi as well as 17x8 in wide rims compared to 7" wide prior.

prices:
springs - $200/4
KYB shocks - $200/4
coilovers (good) - $800/4

Where can you find KYB Struts for $200 for a set? I always thought they were more than that.. my rear ones are shot, but i may do a whole struts \ spring setup while im at it... at 160k im sure its only a matter of time till i kill the front ones..

Im interested in the tein pictures as well.. NY roads suck and i have never been on a car with coilovers that was reasonably comfortable.

I have a 94 ST, and on both sides the bottom of the doors and areas under are starting to rust pretty bad. I want to get it sanded off, fixed, and hopefuly paint the car this summer..

I want to put some mud guards / flaps on once the snow hits to protect it during the winter. Whats out there that is effective and looks decent? I dont know how they will look, but on my WRX hatch they looked pretty badass and definitely helped keep the salt off the car.

My 94 ST has a rusted fuel line. It was pretty bad and i had to cut a section out last fall and install a hose to get it through the winter. It still drips a few drips here and there, so now that its getting nice out, I want to look into a better solution. The rusted section is under the drivers side door.

option 1: Cut out more of the fuel line, and put the hose on better? seal it/clamp it differently? any other suggestions with this route?

option 2: replace the entire fuel line. I have no clue what this will entail. Can anyone give me a rough summary?

I know I got a little camera happy, but I'm just excited to have my car done. All of the body work was done by my Uncle and myself. I have to say that it did not come out perfect, but hell yes, it came out good!

-Thanks, Ryan

Perfect or not, its pretty damn good and im sure a hell of a lot cheaper than paying someone to do it. Im doing my first self paint job on my mr2 this summer because I cant see spending $2000 on a paint job for a $3000 car. If mine comes out like that i would be dancing.

The wheels aren't my style, but i like the subtle lips/skirts very nice.

I have a few questions as the rear struts are on their way out on the g/f's 94 ST. 160k miles.. Im pretty new to celicas

Is there any difference between the GT struts/springs and ST? if so are they a direct swap?

Should I replace the springs as well or would it be okay to do just the struts. {besides the obvious looks/performance gains}

If I should replace the springs, I am looking at going with the Tein S-tech. from what I read they are still a comfortable ride? The lady isnt into performance driving, but I'm all in favor for giving a car a little bit of extra grip and improving the looks a bit BUT I still want it to be comfortable for her because she does have some back issues. NY has tons of snow and pretty crappy roads so I dont want to go too low and stiff..

Also I have some 16" GTS rims and decent tires for when the snow vanishes. .

Would that offset be a decent one for 7" wide? Im not picky about it being very flush, but I would like something better than whats on there now.. The wheels are lightweight {13.5lbs / ea}, and they are local and they arent selling, so I may be able to get them cheap! Tires are a bit small small though.

I've got Yokohama s.Drives all season, they're not so great in snow either. All seasons really aren't meant for snow. That's why I'm actually sitting in America's Tires right now, having a set of Hankook iPikes put on as I write this. Supposed to be really great winter tires, I guess I'll see. BIG thanks to the member on here local to me for selling them to me for basically nothing! (Thanks again brthrurik!) biggrin.gif

from what i've heard, yeah the winter i pikes are a pretty decent winter tire. quite a few rallyx guys use them in the dirt/mud as well and like them.

I drove my Grand AM GT on proxes4 and ive driven worse things in the snow. The V shaped tread pattern did NOT help the car get started in the snow, but it wasnt bad stopping. It didnt pull side to side too bad on highways either. Really the biggest downfall was the starting up...

But that's a comparison to what Ive driven that was on A/S tires. Now after driving the celica with snow tires, Id never go without them.

FYI... On my wrx I am running Dunlop Wintersport M3 tires. They are amazing in the snow and better on dry pavement than the stock RE-92s until it gets above 50 outside. There are a few better rated Snow/Ice tires, but these kept some decent dry performance as well. They handle the upstate NY snow like a champ.

Im trying to find some used wheels for my girls celica because her 14" summer tires are shot, so i want to replace her snow steelies with the nicer rims.. I dont need anything perfectly flush, but would like something more flush than stock.

I have a set of 205/50/17 in my garage.. Tad tall, but still may use them if I can find a set of 17 rims, but I am wondering what other cars use similiar wheels/offsets so I can keep an eye out.

16" Celica GTS wheels fit nicely and arent sucked in
17" Scion tC wheels fit, but are sucked way in. doesnt NEED spacers but could USE them
17" Matrix wheels
Do all generation celicas use 5x100 and close to the same offset for a decent look?

Subaru wheels non-sti - OEM wheels probably will rub, most typical aftermarkets ones are are still too high for celica. Probably about the same as the tC unless you have uber low offset Subaru person. Then they are probably a good fitment

What else? I would love to find some GTS wheels and tires with good tread.

Hopefully you haven't lived in NY too long or you made a typo.

Albany is a good 3 hours east of Rochester on a good day. Opposite sides of the state. Maybe you meant Schodack is 35 minutes from Albany.

A little south i think of Albany(not sure of the direction)? I live in Schodack, which is like 35-45 mins from rochester I believe, depending on where you live.
Do you know how to install the kit? I just want it to look good, not like the honda's i see with wood screws sticking out of the bodykit lol.

80s MR2s were around 2400 lbs
low on power, but the supercharged ones are supposed to be still pretty quick. Especially for a 1980s car.

90s MR2s were around 2600 lbs
Fattest and considered to be the "worst handling" MR2 But the engine has the most potential for power. Pretty good size trunk, and more room in the front.

2000s MR2/MRs were around 2200 = lightest and most nimble, but the engine was very underpowered especially for its year and not a lot of power options without going forced induction or swap. Basically NO trunk/luggage space

I own a 92 turbo and love it.. Dont be turned off by the label of the "worst handling" mr2, they all handle amazingly. What sold me on the 92s was their exterior design, and trunk space.. You can easily fit 2 sets of golf clubs, or weekend luggage, and get more room in the front without a spare tire. 94/95 there were very few made.. Maybe 500 tops each year in the US. If you want one of these in pristine condition with under 100k miles, you are looking at $10,000 or more. Especially the turbo models.

Nice! I've got a question about heated seats. I've got cloth seats in my car, (I know some of you are already like uh oh...) and I would love to swap them out for leather but I don't have the money for that. I wouldn't think it would be a good idea to put seat heaters in a cloth seat but one of my friend's parents has them from the factory in a Saturn Vue. I know, Saturn... Gay. But they put seat heaters in cloth seats. So is that even doable? I'd like to have heated seats but I'm not brave enough without confirmation from somebody OTHER than Saturn.

My girlfriend has a Jetta with heated cloth seats - I absolutely don't think you need to have leather to install these. They shouldn't ever get hot enough to be a hazard. I'll keep you updated on that one though, as I also plan to do this same mod! But I was just gonna hit a junk yard to find some switches that didn't look quite so "Made in China" as the eBay switches do. tongue.gif

Sweet! Now that I have had someone else say it, I might spring for them this Christmas! I'll let you guys know smile.gif

Subaru does it as well.. My 08 WRX, and 05 Legacy GTs have heated cloth... Also my dad's STi has heated alcantra {spelling?}.

I know this may seem elementary to most of you, but I am just starting on this project and I literally have no exp. in doing these things my self but I'm wanting to learn and do most of these types of things on my own, anyhow first "major"(minor) thing I have done on this car switched that GOD for-saken stock radio, speakers coming soon. (really good ones!)

No need to put yourself down. We all started on something simple at some point. I botched my first radio job up really bad. Ended up having to fix it 3 or 4 times because I used a lot of shortcuts on the wiring. Youll be doing engine swaps before you know it! wink.gif

im talking about the boxy ones 5gs for one of those seems a bit pricey maybe unless it supercharged

Yeah I know what you are talking about and trust me, they can get up there, mostly in the $3k range, but they can.

Hes right... The 2nd gen 90s ones average around 4-5k in decent shape and some of the really good ones are closer to 10k. I bought a 91-T for 3k and it is mechanically good. Visually needs a fair amount of work. FYI they can be a bastard to work on somedays. I usually just remove the trunk lid for engine work so I can stand in there.

Are those matrix rims as well? They look different than the ones I found for sale

Tirerack shows 17x7 et38 for the matrix so their offset should be similiar. Thanks!
