Is it possible to adjust the throttle cable by the pedal? Someone asked him if he had adjusted the throttle cable underneath the car and he hadn't. I did a Google search for it and came across an article from Celica hobby and an older thread on here. Is it possible with a sixth gen? http://www.miata.net/garage/throttle.html |

Not sure where to post this and I just want some thoughts on the issue on what it might be. I know it's vague and impossible to diagnosis without actually seeing the car. When I first bought the car, I noticed it would smell like gasoline if I filled the tank and waited for the gas pump to stop for it to be full. It smelled of gas really bad and it would happen only when I filled the tank completely full. One guy who changed my oil thought it was a hole in the gas tank. When we took it in to get an estimate, they put it on a lift but told us that they couldn't tell what the problem was without taking the car apart. They also noticed gasoline down the side of my gas tank. I've filled it 3/4 to 7/8ths full and I haven't smelled fumes. I also don't notice a decrease in my gas mileage, but I cant estimate it accurately. Would a hole be dangerous to drive around with? Could the car explode? Sort of silly question but I read online somewhere it is a possibility. If it was a hole though, wouldn't I smell fumes more often other than filling the tank completely? |

I went through my manual the other day and it said to get keys from the dealership, I'd need the key number. I bought my car used back in April and all I received was a remote and one single, Toyota key. I did get a spare made at Lowes that sometimes works if I turn it upside down. I tried to get a better one made at a different location, but it would only unlock the door and not start the car. We cut three keys and tried recutting two of them with no success. Would Toyota be able to cut me a key based off of the key I have or find a master key similar to it? I am nervous of losing my key but without the number I don't know if they would be able to tell what kind of key I have. Plus why isn't the other shops able to cut my key? If it is because of excessive wear on the key, could it damage my car or locks if I keep on using it? I thought it was originally because one of the hills on the key wasn't the same on the other side, but I met a 7th gen Celica owner and his key was the same way. I have a '97 and I think it's a ST. |
