Thanks for the info! So the Warltro pump I got is so much more than what is needed. That explains my high fuel consumption.

@delusionz: i replaced my o2 sensor less than 2 years ago and the fuel reg has not been changed ever since. i don't have any air-fuel controller installed now so my settings just rely on the ecu. i'm not sure of the resistor pack if it was bypassed. from what i know, my installer changed the socket only to accommodate the warlbro pump.

@BonzaiCelica: the fuel pump that was previously installed is for 4afe/4age, i think. are the 3sfe and 3sge pump just the same too?

thanks guys! smile.gif

Hi,

Just wanted to know the flow rate of the stock fuel pump for a 3rd gen 3S-GE.

My one got busted and was replaced with a Warlbro fuel pump which I think has a flow rate for 255 lph. I know this is more than what my engine needs and now my fuel economy is affected. I don't have the budget right now to replace it but knowing the difference in flow rate will help me understand better.

Thanks,

I read it's actually a gear guard so that you don't accidentally shift into first at a higher speed (since it's such a short gear). You will actually grind it if you are going anything faster than about 5mph. I did it before. I've heard you're not suppose to downshift to first unless you're at a stop or are barely rolling.

interesting. do either of you use synthetic trans fluid. wondering if thats the culprit?

QUOTE (fgvillegas @ Sep 10, 2011 - 3:25 PM) *
I thought that's just natural. Most of the cars I've driven allows shifting to 1st gear at full stop or almost full stop.

i guess its not a huge deal. but usually when i come to a stop thats about ready to turn green i put it in first gear in preparation, now i have to come to a complete stop regardless whether its red or not.

i use Motul synthetic gear oil. But the other cars are just natural oil.

I'm currently using Adaptronic standalone ecu and I'm happy with it. It is much cheaper than other brands I know with the same features. Try to visit their site: www.adaptronic.com.au.

They have several models. I'm using e420c but they have a newer model. I plan to upgrade when my turbo project pushes through.

supercharge it with stock internals. bam!

Sounds like a good idea! What kind of supercharger can be used?

Thanks!

I hope someone can shed a light on this. I'm planning to have a high comp turbo on my 3rd gen 3sge next year.

If you were to turbocharge a 3rd gen 3sge in 2 different ways, that is:

1 - internals are the same and having the right amount of boost and turbo size for street use
2 - internals were changed to increase strength and lower the compression and having the right amount of boost and turbo size for street use

At low to mid rpm range, which of the 2 setups will give more power and torque?

I was thinking that it could be setup 1 because of the compression ration is still maintained. But then again, it's just my understanding and would appreciate if someone could enlighten me on this.

Thanks.

thanks!

you will have no problems with a normal oil cooler

thanks. does size matter? i'm just planning to get a smaller one.

im curious why your normal operating temperatures have risen.

the cams were set more aggressively.

i recently shift to a standalone ecu and have my cams adjusted to provide maximum power and torque. i was again happy witht the dyno result. however, i noticed that my water and oil temperature is higher than usual so i'm planning to install an oil cooler to ease up the heat. i'm not sure, though, if an oil cooler without a thermostat is sufficient. the one with thermostat is so expensive that's why i'm opting for the other one.

my question is, would it be difficult to reach the normal operating temp if there is no thermostat in the oil cooler?

please enlighten me. smile.gif

thanks.

are the motor mounts that you installed are the solid ones? if so, that will really cause more vibration but it will minimize engine movements and improve your acceleration a bit.

is the idle speed too low? this could be the reason. otherwise, it could be that the iacv is already dirty or a little bit clogged and should be clean.

i have a friend who got the same problem before in his carb engine and found out that the culprit is the pcv valve. though i'm not sure if that would be the same for an efi engine. try disconnecting the hose from the pcv valve and see it there is smoke coming out of it. if there is, it could be clogged or dirty or stucked up.

from what i know, advance timing will not add power. it will just move the torque at lower rpm and therefore makes the car more responsive in lower rpms.

if you a piggy back like emanage, you can adjust the timing there without moving the distributor. but if you'll be buying that just for the timing, i think it's not worth it unless you have other future plans or other existing mods that requires adjusting the a/f ratio and others.

i was thinking if the effects of doing this will be negated if you have an alluminum intake pipe. because as your engine gets hotter, the intake pipe will get hotter too and this could heat up the air coming in. although, i'm not sure which is hotter. but the thing is, the area that the coolant heats up is much smaller that the intake pipe specially if you have a CAI setup.

what do you think?
