Is there any way you can take a video so we can hear the sound while you are breaking? Also, did the vibration when braking stop after you replaced everything? Ill try to get a video by tomorrow. The vibration stopped when breaking. I was thinking to what cheela said and some of the metal clips are not bend but they are loose. i was thinking maybe when i break move out of place and hit the rotor. |

I checked the little metal clips that hold the break pads none of em seem bent or damaged and so does the shim.. could it be my axle? Also my break dont break as hard as they do.. like it lost power or something.. i did flushed my pistons Chaggi - I would like to refer you to my thread... http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=90893 I would suggest going through the steps and make sure you did all of them correctly. Also, what year and model car do you have? automatic? Manual? You said "I did flushed my pistons".... What do you mean by that? This is the stick i followed changing my rotors and brake pads. (THANKS BTW) I mean flushed like in your step 3 when you use an old pad and c clamp to flush the piston back in the caliper like you said. I have a 1994 toyota celica GT AUTO. |

Hello! I was having trouble with my car the other day when i was driving it. Out of nowhere i started hearing some squeaks and scraping when i break or when im slowing down.. Also my steering wheel starts to vibrate when i break or when i go over 60 mph. So i went to shop and got it checked, the guys at the shop told me that my rotor was probably warped and needed replacing. They quoted me 460 dollars to do it -.- so i was like no thank you. I went to autozone and picked up new rotors and breakpads and decided to do it myself. After everything.. its still making the scraping sound and my break are not working as good as they use too. can someone point me in the right direction i what to do. |

mid 90's v8 mustangs have this problem and it's the pickup inside the distributor, but I've also seen the same thing with the knock sensor and idle/air control valves. It could be a few things and isn't always one specific thing. Your best bet would be to see if you have any check engine codes, if your car is 96 or newer then you can drive it to your local autoparts store and see if they have an OBDII scanner. The ones here diagnose for free, and sometimes it's enough to point you in the right direction. Even if the check engine light isn't coming on there still might be a pending code(aka soft code), meaning that it doesn't happen often enough to trigger the check engine light but it is a problem that the ECU recognizes. if its the pick up inside the distributor do i just have to buy a new distributor? also my car is a 1994 so idk if i can use that obdii scanner =/ |

Hello! Yesterday on my way to pick up my dad from work my engine started stallin and died on me.. found out that my distributor cap and rotors were messed up and needed replacement. I finished replacing both cap and rotor today but when i took it for a test drive , when i hit past 3000 to 3500 RPM it idle back down and dies... Then it takes while before i can start again. Anyone have this problem before? how can i fix this? all help is appreciated. thank you! |

Hi! I was wondering if any of you guys have this problem before. The other day, i noticed that my oil sign warning was on everytime i put the ignition in on. so i went and checked my oil lvl and found out it was less than 1/4 . I immediatly added a quart of oil hoping that it will go away. But when i went to work the next day it was still there. So i just did an oil change, and the oil lamp sign is still there. does anyone know what i have to do? or do you think there are other problems? |
