how do you wire a ground kit?

i heard 2 ways....

1. wires go to certain places in the engine bay you want to have better grounding (alternator, etc) and they all trace back to the negative battery terminal

or

2. same as above but they go to a face of metal that is grounded somewhere in the engine bay


I've seen both setups so i wasn't sure... Can someone please teach me the right setup of ground wiring? As where usually the lines go to and if they go to the frame or positive battery terminal?

today i took out my rear seats and found a puddle of water.

for the drop in intake filter for the celica, is it the same filter from USA spec and UK/JDM spec? they are 2 different engines so dunno if their are interchangeable.
