Just seeing if there is any interest in possibly trading our car for a Celica, I know some people with kids might be looking for a bigger car that is safe & reliable that will get them through winter with no issues. Well here goes, I recently bought my parents car off them to help them out. It's a 2000 Buick LeSabre Custom, V6 (3800 Series II), auto, very clean and in good condition with no rust or major dings/dents. There are some minor scratches here & there but overall it is pretty nice for being 11 years old. It has been taken care of, my parents don't mess around when it comes to maintenance - anything that needs fixed gets fixed as soon as possible unless it is something that honestly can wait. It has 175k miles but anyone who is familiar with the 3800 knows it's a bulletproof engine if you take care of it, and this car has not been neglected.

The car runs and drives great, it is quiet, powerful (enough) and smooth. When my parents had it they replaced several suspension parts, possibly some engine parts as well. I will get a list of everything that was replaced as well as receipts if possible. The tires and brakes are good, no need to replace them before winter. Since I've had it, it's been great, I've observed right around 25 mpg with it (mostly around town driving, very little highway). The car is loaded with PS, 4 wheel disc brakes, CC, A/C, PL, PW, Pwr seats, rain sensing wipers, AM/FM/CD/Cassette etc. The only thing that needs fixed (and it isn't something that needs fixed right away since winter is coming up), are the window motor regulators in all 4 doors. It is a common problem that a part of the motor fails, so the windows slide down into the doors and can't be raised up with the motor. So all 4 windows are propped in the "up" position by door stops. I know that sounds ghetto but they are slim and clear, so they don't really stick out like a sore thumb. The regulators can be replaced at home, I just haven't fixed them since they will be (I think) about $150 or $200 each. There are no leaks with the windows, they are all the way up and no weather is able to come in. Besides that everything works perfectly. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it all the way to California.

Now with that said, this isn't my first choice in car lol. I don't have any kids so I have no real need for a 4dr. I miss my old Celica terribly, and I would love to trade the LeSabre straight up for a '96-'99 Celica GT hatchback with an automatic transmission. I wish I could get a stick but unfortunately sometimes my boyfriend's parents need to borrow our car at times and his mom can't drive a stick, and his dad had knee surgery recently so he really can't be driving a stick right now either. As far as Celica trades, the car must be in good mechanical and cosmetic condition, be an Automatic transmission, and must be good running, driving, safe, with equal value to my car (KBB was $3500 Good to $4000 Excellent I believe). We would prefer a bone stock Celica, but any mods would be a plus. We will consider a '94-'95 or ST hatchback as well, but it needs to be an equal value trade. We don't have cash to add on top of our car, so we aren't able to consider any heavily modified or immaculate & super low mileage examples.

Also, we are located in Southeastern Michigan, 49221. We are also open to cash offers for the car, or a partial trade + cash (depends on the trade, we need a car so please no 4 wheelers, electronics, or other non car trades). Please, serious inquiries only. PM me here if you would like any more information. I will also provide the VIN # as well. Thank you and I apologize for being a bit long winded lol! smile.gif

UPDATE: I ran an Experian Auto Check on the car and it was originally a Florida car, brought to Michigan in 2007 if I remember correctly. Also there have been ZERO Accidents ever, not even a fender bender! There are No Issues with the title (no flood, salvage, etc) and it has never been stolen. This car's history is clean as it gets. I can't find the charger for my camera battery to take current pics, so I had to get these pics from my parents when they bought it and brought it home, they are a couple years old but the car still looks this nice now:

Edited 1st post and title. Budget wise we are looking for something on the cheaper side, something to work on for now while we save for the exact Celica we want & will get later on when we have cash in hand. If I have to throw out a price, maybe $1500 for a driver that needs work/project car and a little more for a nicer driver. Can't afford a perfect car that needs nothing at this point unless it's a great deal LOL (I.E nothing over $2800 I guess). Sorry if that sounds cheap but in my area all of the really clean 6th gen Celicas that are popping up are all around $5-$7k.

Again if you have something that we might be interested in, PM me with pics/price/location/details (that keeps this thread clutter free). Thanks smile.gif

Well, my boyfriend and I are still looking for a Celica, prefer a 5th or 6th Gen GT hatchback with an automatic trans but will consider a 5spd even though we don't want or need one (don't care if they're a little faster, we don't street race and the car will be a daily driver anyway). It would save time and money for us to get an Automatic, because if we got a 5spd we'd have to swap it out for an automatic anyway and sell the 5spd on here which is extra hassle and we don't really want to do that LOL. Will even consider a project car (preferably running as it must be driven home - we don't have any way to haul it). Lately there have been a handful of Celicas on craigslist around our area but they are all 5 speeds or sold before we even get a chance to go see them (5spds outnumber the automatics, and most of the automatics are convertibles or coupes and we REALLY want a hatchback). Any color is fine, even if it's hot pink, we don't care we just want another Celica hatch. Looking for one within 100 miles of Adrian, MI 49221, but may travel slightly further for the right car. Please PM me on here with anything you might have that sounds like what we're looking for. May even consider other 2 dr cars (again, AUTOMATIC ONLY) LOL, include pics, details, price, and location please. Looking to spend around $3k for something in good shape that runs well. That is just a ballpark figure, so if you have a project car we will pay an appropriate price according to condition/mileage/year/etc. Thanks!

**ALSO: MUST HAVE A CLEAR TITLE**

luckily I have never gotten screwed by anybody on here, but there is something that I would like to add. I have never done business with Jim and I don't know him, but one thing I do know is that when somebody takes the time to offer a service that they charge money for, and the customer is left waiting after paying with no product, that is called fraud. Plain and simple. If you can't fullfill the orders because you took too much on your plate, that is not the customer's fault, problem, or responsibility. There are far too many excuses (I've read the threads, and it's bullsh!t). Too many customers have been lenient and they are getting walked all over. Sellers, if you can't hold up your end of the deal and produce the paid for service or item, then you refund ALL of the money that was paid to you, clear and simple. That's how it goes. What happens when a seller takes the money and a customer gets no item/service that they paid for? It becomes a legal matter! Now I'm not trying to "stir the pot" or anything, but seriously this Jim has made thousands (or at least was paid thousands by members here) and it seems that many of you are left with NOTHING. You know what I would do? Pay that $25 filing fee for small claims court and let the judge take over. Re-read Jim's post and he says that he'll keep getting imported parts for HIS cars, but what about YOUR money that is owed?? Jim, you know what you need to do? And it's a bit ridiculous that somebody has to tell you this, but you need to put YOUR cars aside, REFUND everyone that you took money from, and MAKE IT RIGHT. Small claims only has a $3,000 cap but it sounds like more than that is due to your customers, so it could get ugly for you pretty quick unless several small claims court cases start getting filed by different customers.... that's gonna be a lot of court fees that you'll have to pay. You'll probably have to sell your cars to try and cover it, did you think about that Jim? Probably not. It is a really crappy situation and you have nobody to blame but yourself, yeah times are tough for EVERYONE and people trusted you to deliver, and you haven't, so how does that NOT make you a scammer and guilty of fraud? rolleyes.gif

Makes me think twice about buying from anyone on here, seems like more people are getting desperate for money and so good people are getting taken advantage of. Online transactions are still transactions, and are 100% valid in court. Hope everyone that has money owed will file that $25 fee, call it an attention getter!!

IDK, maybe it's just me but Z3 fenders are a little outdated, maybe something that is a more recent design might look better?

Or this rendering from a member on here has always looked great, the widened front fender with a subtle vent accents the rest of the car perfectly. Maybe move the one small piece that stabilizes/connects the outer portion slightly upward in the vent so that it's in the middle and symmetrical?

also I freaking love those taillights, if somebody made those and they didn't cost and arm and a leg I'd be the first one in line to buy them lol.

I think he's referring to Spider Lite X2 LED Tail light bulbs. They need enough room in the tail light to be able to open up fully when installed. They insert like a regular bulb, and once inside the light they expand. Pretty neat, I've never seen them on a 6th Gen Celica so IDK if the tail lights are too small inside or not? I think the 3 arm design might fit better than the 5 arm ones. They're available in white, red, or amber.

**THIS IS NOT MY CAR, CALL THE # IN THE AD FOR INFO, I'M JUST PASSING IT ALONG smile.gif **

I found this listing while searching my local craigslist (Toledo, Ohio).

'94 Celica on Toledo Craigslist

It has 188k miles, seller claims it runs and drives great. It's a 5spd (clutch was done last summer) as well. Listing also states that the car is clean on the inside and so so on the outside(some surface rust and few little dents)... Does need a few things to make it right, such as it needs brake work and rear wheel bearings need replaced.. Recently got new front wheel bearings, clutch, flywheel, exhaust, fog lights, Shift Knob, Brake master cylinder. Call for DETAILS-- (419) 787-3994

again, another unbearably cheap 5 spd when I want an auto, just my luck lol. But the boyfriend and I have plans to buy a much nicer Celica in May from a fellow 6GC member, so someone grab this 5spd up, it's super cheap!!

ok, after looking through every single item so far, the only thing that I found that is even remotely related would be a couple pins and a badge. The pins are both Naval pins, one says "STANAVFORLANT" and stands for "Standing Naval Force, Atlantic". The other is a Navy Anchor 3 pronged pin, both are from the late '60s or early '70s, when my late Uncle (who died before I was born) was on the USS Richard E. Byrd. The uniform badge I have is from the Canadian Military, Logistics Branch and it says Servitium Nulli Secundus on it.

I know they are not Police or Law Enforcement, but those are the things I was able to find. I listed them on eBay since I am trying to sell each item for whatever I can to help my mom out. If you would be interested in those, I can PM you the auctions, let me know.

QUOTE (yarik83 @ Mar 18, 2011 - 5:30 PM) *
unfortunately IQ seems a little more up my alley. I have seen the concept with this crazy looking body kit. On the other hand it is 0-60 in a century so body kit will make it look kind of bleh.. unless of course one would swap something like a hawyabuza engine hehehehehe.

Another IQ-like vehicle is a concept of aston martin
http://www.lincah.com/2009-aston-martin-cygnet-concept

LOL The Aston Martin Cygnet IS a Toyota iQ, it's simply gotten an Aston facelift front & rear smile.gif

Another interesting small car that we're getting here in the US is the 2012 Hyundai Veloster. The engine is a 1.6 138 hp I4 with a 6 speed manual or 6 speed paddle shift dual clutch automatic. Estimated 40 mpg with either trans, 4 wheel disc brakes, 17" wheels, and starting price of only $17,000 (US). Best part is a turbocharged version will be added later on that will be pushing 175hp to the front wheels laugh.gif

What makes it unique is that it has a single normal sized driver's side door, and a set of smaller doors on the passenger side to maintain a sporty 2dr hatchback profile. The European version will get 4 normal doors:

and a Celica is only for guys I take it? Or the Mini Cooper for that matter? rolleyes.gif

Also the current Fiat 500 has been sold overseas since 2007, as usual we Americans are late in getting anything good as far as cars lol. But as far as maintenance and reliability so far so good, at least with the reviews that are floating around. I'm personally looking forward to the Focus RS, 500 Abarth, and I'm already loving the Fiesta (even though it has a silent recall for transmission issues). If I won the lottery I'd get something practical and fun to drive, Ferraris and Lamborghinis are great but the upkeep is killer!

I've seen several being tested here in Michigan well over a year ago. They are great little cars, and they are not based on the Mini Cooper at all. Both the Mini Cooper and Fiat 500 are remakes of vintage versions of the same cars, but they don't share any underpinnings whatsoever. The Fiat is actually more practical as it will be cheaper than a Mini (which is owned and produced through BMW). Also, the Mini is starting to show it's age since it hasn't gotten a major restyle since we got it several years ago. Sure, they added the (hideous IMO) Clubman for people who need to haul more, but people who buy these cars don't usually need to haul a lot. Small, fuel efficient cars are necessary here, the majority of people who own large SUVs and trucks rarely haul things or take them off road. They think they are safe just because they are big and ride taller than a car, but the reality is that a lot of them are less safe overall than a small or midsize car. I won't even touch the horrible MPG that trucks get, but it's silly to call a hybrid that gets no better than 25 mpg a significant improvement. Especially when smaller trucks (specifically imports) are capable of getting at least 30. Anyway back to the Fiat... personally I love it and I think it looks much better than a Mini Cooper. It is more modern, and even though it is 5 inches shorter, the interior sizes are almost the same. In base model form, the Fiat blows the Cooper away as far as MPG (Fiat gets 37 City/56 Hwy while the Cooper gets 23 City/32 Hwy). The Cooper S (turbocharged version) only produces 28 City/37 Hwy.

Here is a pic of the US Production version (we get slightly revised bumpers among other little things):

Also, there is a turbocharged mid level version coming, and if I remember correctly the 500 Abarth is being brought here as well (turbocharged hot hatch version made to compete w/ similar cars like the Mini Cooper S):

And like it or not, with the economy the way it is, fuel economy is near the top of the list for new car buyers, the Fiat is just better in all ways that really matter: price, mpg, quality, and it's a new model to the US, so it's a fresh sight to see on the roads. Coopers are old news, I'm not saying that they are bad cars, I've driven a few and they are fun but the interior is not very practical, especially with the HUGE tach being centered in the dash. The Fiat's interior is much nicer to look at and it doesn't feel dreary to be in. smile.gif

My mom just gave me 6 large storage containers full of antique stuff to go through that consists of various items from my family going all the way back into the late 1800s, I know there are pins, patches, and some other things but I'm not sure if it is definitely police stuff. If it is, I will let you know. My job with it is to research it all and sell it, but if they have little or no value I'd be happy to send it your way. I do know there are things from World War 1, the Navy, Military, or Army, and possible other similar items so there may be police items as well. Let me get back to ya lol!

I figured it wouldn't hurt to post this here. My boyfriend's brother just had his car stolen last night, it's a '97 Olds Achieva. I'm trying to get more details on it and once I get those I'll update this. He and his wife have 4 kids that they need to take care of, it's pretty crappy that someone had to go and steal their car so if anyone here happens to live in or near Tulsa, OK (long shot, I know) please PM me if you see anything pop up for sale on craigslist or ebay in your area. I know without knowing the color of the car and other details it's a bit hard right now, but I'm working on that. Also, sorry that this isn't Celica related. Thank you!

I'm in Adrian, which is about a half hr from Toledo, OH. I think I've seen one or two 6th gens here, but neither of them appear to be owned by anyone on the forum. The boyfriend and I go to Lansing, Jackson, Brooklyn, Ann Arbor, and Toledo fairly often during "car show season" though lol. Favorite part of the year thumbsup.gif

hopefully if everything goes right we'll be buying Zake's '96 Celica GT in a couple months, I'd definitely be down for a meet then smile.gif

Forgive me if the site was just updated and I overlooked it, but a few days ago in threads, I was able to scroll down the page and view everyone's replies/comments in a post, including any pictures. But now whenever I click on a thread, only the 1st post is visible, and there's a long compacted list of replies that I can't view unless I click them all one at a time. Also to do that I click on one, read it, then have to scroll down to the next one, click it and read it, and all it ever shows is one at a time which would take FOREVER with a long thread not to mention it's hard to see where you left off. It just seems really complicated and it's a bit frustrating when you just want to skim over a thread without having to click on each and every reply. Is this happening for anyone else? I'm using Mozilla Firefox, just like I was before when it wasn't doing this. Is there something I can do in my settings to put it back to where I can view everything on a page in a thread just by scrolling down, without clicking on every individual thing?? Any help will be highly appreciated, thank you smile.gif

in the top right corner, click OPTIONS> change the "display mode" to STANDARD. wink.gif

lol wow, I just logged in and everything is back to normal without me having to do that. I just looked under options and it's already got "Standard" selected, at least if it does it again I know how to fix it now. smile.gif

Thank you!

everything looks & sounds pretty good to me! smile.gif if you want to take the blue LEDs out that's fine lol I might want to get the white ones instead, no biggie. I forgot to include in my PM that if/when you get the chance within the next couple weeks could you please make a couple videos that include a cold start of the car exhaust, a mid to mid-high range rev once it's warmed up (showing the exhaust) and maybe an exterior/interior walk around, sort of like a video "tour" if you will? I would really appreciate it, thanks!

The more I look at it, the more I love this color. You've taken good care of it, I can tell. When it comes time for you to sell it, will the rear brakes be fixed? Also, when returning the car back to stock, will you be putting the rear spoiler back on (or including it), and leaving the Dash LED's in or no? I really like the way those look lol. Not a biggie though, but I am seriously interested in this Celica. The biggest bummer for me is that you are 5 hrs west of me frown.gif

The good thing is, since my boyfriend and I will have time to save and add to our tax refunds, we might be able to take an Amtrak or Greyhound to Chicago, if you were willing to drive to the station or something. That's completely up in the air right now of course, it's just a thought for now until we might be able to work out the details later. Is there any way that you could PM me a video of the car running and driving? Also could I have the VIN # so I can look up a carfax if you don't mind, please? Thank you and great job with the car, that color is definitely growing on me. If we were able to buy it, I can assure you it would be in very good hands.

looked at your profile, very nice Celica. I wouldn't want to make a lowball offer, as I think your car is more than likely out of my price range. Also you're in Florida, which is a long ways from Michigan frown.gif Thank you though!

I have an auto 94 6gen that has around 165k, but it needs some work. Its road worthy but does need a new driver side low beam, new struts, it got hit on the driver side so i replaced the driver side fender and put a c one replica front bumper on it. the bumper and fender need to be painted. Im looking for a vert honestly and a manual transmission, havent decided to let go of my celica but if price is right i might.

where in Illinois are you located? Hoping its only a couple hr drive from me (in 49221). Do you have any pics of the car, and is it a 1.8 or a 2.2?

If you wanted to wait till april-may. you could have my '96 GT for $2200. since thats when I will be looking for a 6th gen 5-speed celica gt. my celica just turned 168k, has rust on the rear 1/4 and passenger side door. (but a rust free door is included with the car.)

this is a possibility so that I can have a chance to sell my daily driver and save a little more cash to put towards a 6th Gen. Also, where in Illinois are you? Do you have more pics of your car? (forgive me if they're in your profile, I haven't looked at it yet).

Thanks, I cannot wait until I finally have another 6th Gen sitting in my driveway, I miss my old one SOOOOO much lol.

nobody has an automatic Celica they'd want to sell?? May even consider a 5th gen or 7th gen. I'm not looking for an immaculate car, may consider a convt or coupe as well, just really prefer a hatchback.
