i don't know if this will be your problem, but i know i was having similar problems when my alt wasnt working right and the battery terminal was stretched to the point that it would slip off reasonably easily.. I'd make sure your bat terminals are clean and the cables are firmly tightened etc Just a thought |

Most people use cone filters for the 'bling' factor because they generally look good in a well maintained and cleaned engine bay. Sad thing about it is, unless you pipe in cool air directly to the cone filter, you are actually harming performance of your car by only sucking in hot air. Hot air is less dense than cold air, and as such you get less bang for your buck. So unless you are planning on showing off your engine bay quite a bit, i would get the K&N drop in filter or equivalent. I have been using a K&N drop in filter and it works great. you just have to make sure to regularly clean the filter, however any replacement filter that is not a cheap paper filter will have the same requirement. |

QUOTE(95CelicaST @ Jul 29, 2006 - 10:30 PM) I don't have what you would call "nimble hands". I did, however manage to cut the bottom side of my nose on the bottom edge of the bumper lip. That was fun, let me tell you! Tell me about it, i shredded my hands something fierce while getting the bolts in to those hidden holes.... I couldnt be buggered mucking around with working out the right bolt size, so i just went to Mr T and got the proper bolts for the assembly, cost me AU $1.25 per bolt (comes with the washer), which admittedly is exy for a single bolt, but i didnt have to guess the size at least. |

QUOTE(95CelicaST @ Jul 29, 2006 - 8:29 PM) So I have my fog lights in front of my bumper... sitting there. We can't find out how to bolt them in, because it doesn't seem like there is a place to do so. Can SOMEONE with the OEM fogs get a picture of where to mount them? Thanks! Matt Do you have the brackets with your fog lights? when i got mine, they had the bracket included with the lights so it was just a matter of bolting the brackets in the right spot. On each side of the front bar there are two bolt holes, one you can see easily, and one that you have to shove your head up under the bar to see. When i mounted mine i jacked the car up, removed the panels under the engine and bolted it in.. it took me a couple of hours and alot of swearing before i managed to get them in however.. depending on your flexibility or determination, it might be worth removing the front bar to do it.. i dunno how easy it is to do that tho. I have uploaded a few photos that may help to my site. let me know if you need more and i'll see what i can do |

QUOTE(CelicaZR @ May 13, 2006 - 1:21 AM) whats clay bar treatment? Well, it wasnt as hard as we thought. We used a "cut and polish" compound. Put some of it on a rag and polished it off by hand. It works like a treat clay bar is basically a heavy duty cut and polish. works by taking a thin layer of paint off the car, basically removing all light scratches etc. Personally i wouldnt do it unless the car was real bad, but thats just me. and if ive given you the wrong info re clay bar, im sure someone will let us both know I assume this was the guy with the purple 6gc who parks outside my place all the time for church with cruisin plates? |

QUOTE(CelicaZR @ May 12, 2006 - 5:50 PM) Hey guys Some basturds graffitied my friends 6gc I havent seem it yet. But he said it was across the bonnet and bit of the fender. I just want to know, is there anything we can use to remove it with? Thanks hey man, thats not good to hear before doing anything like a clay bar treatment, i'd try some of that bug and tar remover they use in some car shops. i know its gotten some bad marks off my car that i never thought i could get off (including after numerous washes and scrubbing etc). I have a mate who owns his own car styling shop that uses some, i can find out the brand if you like off him? |

QUOTE(wuhukf @ Aug 28, 2005 - 6:58 AM) Thats true, I was just afraid of the heat from summer time and I thought it would circulate bettter. What i really want this to do is play videos, music, gps, go online, maybe make phone calls with a bluetooth cell phone, and maybe play games through a game system such as gamecube or something for the passengers. If you want to do all that i would seriously go over and check out mp3car.com. all the answers you want will be there. including making calls etc. Just remember that being able to see video's etc when driving is illegal in most(i think) countries, and so if your car pc is capable of it, then it might be harder to sweet talk your way out of a defect. |

I have to agree with blu94gt. You shouldnt need that many fans. A question for you, what exactly do you want the pc to do? As an example, i have no head unit in my celi, so i have the pc for GPS navigation and MP3's, and eventually when radio hardware that i am happy with has been developed, it will have radio(god i miss radio!!!). There is no optical drive and i am using a low power laptop harddrive. I have the screen molded into the dash and the pc in the boot, right beside the amp. i have no fans except the CPU fan and thus far have not had a problem. I only need to install a small fan in the dash behind the screen. The use that it is getting is not enough to require extra cooling. Now, if you were to be doing 3D modelling or gaming with a high end video card....... |

on the subject of power supplies, depending on how much you want to spend, i would think about investing in a DC - DC converter instead of a power inverter. They are more effecient, and depending on which one you get will also often have a regulator and Startup/Shutdown controller built in. For example, i have a Mini-ITX motherboard which doesnt really require a lot of power, so i have a 80 watt DC - DC controller and a seperate startup/Shutdown controller. I get in the car, turn on the ignition and the computer automatically starts up. When turn the engine off, the computer autamically shuts down cleanly. |

ok well in general there are two brands of screen when talking about touch screens for vehicle use. Lilliput is generally accepted as the cheaper version, there have been a few problems in the past with them, however i believe some of those problems have been fixed in the latest version. Xenarc is generally accepted as the better brand, but cost a lot more. I have a lilliput screen mounted in my dash where the 2 din space is, and only have 2 problems with it. 1 is heat soak, it blanks out when it gets too hot, this can be fixed with a small fan behind the screen, and 2 is that during the day its not that readable in the celi, due to the angle of the dash. This doesnt really worry me as i start work reaaaaaaal early and its usually getting dark on the way home. Of course there are other brands out there, but these are the two that are known in carputer circles. check out this link for prices http://www.mp3car.com/store/index.php?cPat...f6f5d31d78edace |
