Ok, so I've finished my 3sgte swap, everything is perfect except for one little thing. The coil wire. I absolutely cannot find one that fits. I've purchased two different wiresets just to get the coil wire and NONE fit. Its a 91 3sgte, 90-91 distributor cap. Either one even fit it the dizzy. My coil part number is 19500-74050. Its listing that as the alltrac/gt/gts coil assembly, but its entirely too small. Nothing fits in either end. I have no idea what to do. Please point me in the right direction. |

Can u use a GT igniter with a 3s swap? Mine plugs in fine, but I'm pulling a code 14. I've also heard of ppl not being able to rev over 4k with n/a ignitor, thought they were the same part number, whether it be 5th or 6th gen. |

If you follow your rear suspension down, you'll find there are two stabilizer arms per side, the strut side could have a worn or loose thru-bolt, if not, follow it up to underneath the middle of the car, where the arms almost converge, there are bushings in each side that like to eventually squeak a lot, and I guess if the bushings were gone, you'd have a metal-on-metal knock. Just push up and down on the trunk (or hatch) when its parked and listen closely. Go from there. |

The KU36 looks very competitive to the falken azenis rt-615k. I hear nothing but good things about both. Hmm. My only problem is that I'm running 15"s. Not that I care terribly about looks, but the only offerings I see for semi-race tires is a 195-225/50 profile. Even though I'm lowered 1/2" all around, the wheel well gap would look rediculous. Price you pay for performance, I guess, lol. |

Basically, I'm wanting to know (from ppl who drive swapped celicas) what you are running up front for traction. I'm not talkin about the strip, just a good set of front tires that won't spin all the way thru first and second, or something that won't just spin from a 2nd gear roll. What have you used with success? |

Hey all, I've got a 91 GT hatch w/3sgte swapped in. Everything is beautiful, harness looks great, etc. My only problem is the 3rd ecu plug integration, the 14-pin 5sfe to 22-pin 3sgte. I don't have any idea what goes where, or how to splice them. I've been in contact with phoenix tuning (tweakd performance) for weeks, they (cam) was supposed to send me a diagram on exactly what wires go where, but I've gotten nothing. I need to know how to wire this, as its all I need to be up and running. I've gone over the pinouts countless times, and still don't know. Do I match +b to +b, els to els, etc? I know something has to be tee'd into the circuit opening relay, but what, starter wire? this is a fairly popular swap, someones gotta be able to help. Thanks in advance. |

Sorry to bring it back from the dead, but i NEEED the 90-91 pinout, 90 GT hatch, swappin in a 91 3sgte. Already have the 22 pin conne tor, out of a 95 camry. Found some n/a mr2 guides, but seems as they have diff. wires on the same body plug, dunno. |

Very well stated. While 12's are enticing, I really just want RELIABLE power. If that means 250, fine. 330, fantastic. At the end of the day, for us, its more about driving enjoyment, than 1/4 times. |

I'm just hoping if I ever do take it to the track, some falken azenis' deflated to about 20psi will hook up. I'm confident I can net high 13's. Maybe launch at 3k, I dunno. Hopefully that will minimize initial wheelspin, and they'll have enough grip to stop the spinning when boost hits.. I dunno. Damn, I wish they made cf hatches for 5th gens. Lexan is ridiculously expensive. Need to get weight off the back. No springs have a rate hard enough to prevent that squat. Ahhh well.. 63/37 weight distribution, yay. Wonder what kinda horsepower 12's takes for a 2600 lb car. Frustrating. |

Definately rebuildable. Rear is solid one piece, fronts take cartridges. |

So a stock swap won't beat an APR chipped MK5 GTI? The specs are all over the place on these things.. I know SRT-4's stock are quicker than chipped GTI'S. Anyone ran an SRT-4? |

That's a hell of a trap speed for mid 14's. Yeah, sounds like you couldn't hook up. I'm plannin on runnin falken azenis. If I ever DO take it to the strip, ill throw some BFG drag radials on. I'm still on 14" black dog dishes, so we'll see. Should kill from a roll, even w/o really sticky tires. I'm running a S53 tranny, so I really don't wanna do anything from a dig. Its gonna be a highway runner. Honestly, i just wanna shut my roomate up, with his MK5 GTI. VW people are elitist pricks anyway. |

Thanks presure, lagos.. that's comforting. I read a post on here that somewhat described what I was asking about, but STI &EVO basically tells me all I need to know I'm looking at a ct27 w/rom tune, I/E, Crower 264 cams, and a two's r us MBC.. That's about it. 15 psi on 91 octane should do me justice thanks again. |

Ok, can someone on this forum give me a definitive answer? Everywhere I've looked, (I've just about reached the end of the interwebz) hasn't found me a definate stock weight of a 5th or 6th gen hatch. ( I've got a 5th gen hatch) everywhere I've looked ranges anywhere from 2500 on the nose to 2750. 2500 seems to light, 2750 seems a bit much. My buddy has a MK5 GTI, (3100 lbs.) He SWEARS it will absolutely dominate a FWD swapped celica, 5th, or 6th gen. The specs say anywhere from 6.3 to 6.9 0-60, and 14.5 - 14.9 1/4 mile. If anyone who has swapped can give me accurate times, it would be SO appreciated. From what I've seen and read, a healthy 3SGTE swap will run high 13's. How's the roll-on performance? What have some of you that have swapped beaten? Its really killing me, someone help. |

I've heard a lot of great stuff about the CT27, from ATS Racing, also some not so amazing things, but more good than bad. They have CT26 upgrades as well, but I don't know that they're worth much, to be honest. Check their site out, they've got tons of 3SGTE stuff. |

Hey sizzles... Venus auto is a good place to start if you are looking for a 3s front clip.. jdmonline.ca has some st185 clips for around 1300, and quite a few canadian importers have cheaper shipping to the lower 48 than a lot of their US counterparts, surprisingly... are you looking for a 185 or 205 clip? As far as the wiring, don't even mess with it. After you receive your engine, send your 98 gt harness and the harness from your clip to phoenix tuning (tweakd performance now) They'll splice the two seamlessly and you'll have a plug n play harness. They charge about 90 an hr, and you're prolly lookin at 6-7 hrs for a 185, and 4-5 for a 205, I believe. They do amazing work. Absolutely worth every penny. Again, jdmsource.ca, jdmonline, and venus auto engines come with uncut harness and ecu. hope this helped. |

Basically, if you're just refreshing your suspension, you'll need struts, springs and strut mounts. Depending on what kind of mileage you have- you may not even need to replace strut mounts or springs... it usually a good idea to replace them since everything is out. As for miscellaneous parts, the only thing you'll really need is a macpherson spring compressor, if you are doing it yourself.. if not, as long as you have struts, springs and strut mounts front and rear, you're good to go. Also, to answer your Q about "inserts" - the front struts are interchangeable cartridges, which are screwed out, not a full assembly like the rear, when you pull the fronts, you'll see a octagonal "nut" keeping the cartridge in around the silver guide rod/piston.. if you are doin it yourself, and need a step by step, I can write one up, I'm sure there's someone that has it stickied on here if nothing else. Hope I helped. |

Hey all, wondering if 6G lowering springs would work in a 5G... geometry seems to be the same, and I have personally put 5g struts on the rear of a 6g... fit was fine. A lot of sites show springs that fit 90-99, some specify 94-99... its the tanabe df210's I'm wanting. Help would be appreciated before I drop 200-250 on springs. |

Hey mike, and welcome to 6gc. As far as valves go, find a set of 3sgte valves. They are identical, easier to find, more abundant, and thus cheaper. Average price for a set of 16 runs anywhere from 280-350 USD. Also, as far as a shop that specializes in 3SGE/3SGTE, look no further than Fensport. WWW.FENSPORT.CO.UK. I'm not sure where they are in relation to you, but a phone call or website visit will surely yield good results. Hope I've helped a bit. |

Hey there, did u pull the cables out through the firewall, or in towards the interior? More than likely, you'll need to run the cables out from the inside of the car. Trying to shove them back thru the firewall just doesn't work, and that rubber "stabilizer " piece needs to be cut above each hole to allow u to move it where you need it, after you've fed the cables thru... hope that helps.. |
