All fitted, no problem. Thanks everyone for help and advice regarding fitting.

Steering feels tighter and turn in is near instant.

Not bad for a steel bar connecting the suspension towers!

Hi

I have just bought a front strut brace from a Toyota Celica GT to put in my ST.

I notice that it fits to only two of the three bolts on each of the suspension towers and is bent in a V shape back to the bulkhead where it appears to locate to two holes.

My car has the holes but they have plastic covers that I can't seem to remove!!! I'm about to go to my local Toyota dealer to ask for the two bolts I will (hopefully) need to install the strut brace. I'm worried the holes will have no threads for the bolts behind the plastic covers.

Any tips from ST owners who have fitted the OEM strut brace or am I wasting my time.

Thanks

CK

Hi all

While adjusting the idle speed on my wife's Celica I accidentally snapped the idle screw in half!!!

She doesn't know yet.

Luckily the good half still attached to the throttle body is the bit the throttle cable hinges back on and stops, but it is only a matter of time before it falls off.

I went to my local Toyota dealer who said the only option was to buy a whole new throttle Body for £817.56 and he couldn't actually guarantee it would come with the idle screw? The screw itself is not shown on the Toyota parts computer diagram and neither is it listed as an available part. In fact the Toyota guys didn't think it had an idle screw until I dragged the parts manager out to the car park and let him look under the hood.

The dealership kindly contacted Toyota GB technical support who verified that the idle screw did exist but as the car is now over 10-years old the screw is no longer available. This has to be the craziest thing I've ever heard. I can buy the throttle body from them and air filters and wheels and pretty much any other Celica 6 part from Toyota but not an essential engine screw! Mad.

Could anybody give me the part number of the screw or any alternative suggestion as a fix. If anybody has one I'll happily buy it from you.

Thanks

Christian

Hi all

I would like to fit genuine OEM Toyota alloy wheels to our 1997 Celica ST and would like to know what other Toyota models of this era share the same fitting and offset.

Once I know I can then bother my local Toyota dealer for part numbers, prices and schematics from their Toyota EPC parts system.

I'm finding it difficult to find out what wheels came on the GT and GT-4 models as standard?

Any help, pics or suggestions greatly received.

Hi all

I've just taken delivery of my new (old) Celica ST - and I love it already!

Mine hasn't been used by previous for over a year so it needed a new battery which was fitted by me before I drove away from the previous owners house.

It started on the key (I was amazed ...) and idled perfectly and off I went.

However, a week on and it's turned pretty cold here in Wales and it doesn't like to start. It starts on the key then abruptly dies.

Engine will only stay on if I keep my foot on the accelerator pedal hold the revs around 1100rpm and let her warm up. Then all is fine. (I've been running her like this now for 5 days).

I've put new petrol in her (Shell V-Power), fitted a new air filter and have new spark plugs and an oil filter standing by. All fluid and oil levels are checked and ok. Battery working perfectly. I was thinking maybe the automatic choke is not working (if it has such a thing).

Before I panic is this a known issue with the 1.8 litre 7A-FE engine? Car drives sweetly and only has 69,128 on the clock.

Also, the accelerator pedal sticks in the up position when left for a few hours? A good prod free's it and it can be used/driven without sticking. I've sprayed WD40 on the pedal mechanism and return spring down in the drivers footwell but it still sticks slightly which is annoying. Maybe due to lack of use.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Christian
