I think they came with 15" rims stock instead of the 14", too. |

Fit where? I just bought some Pioneer TS-A1767's and they did not fit out of the box, in the front or the rear. I ended up cutting a lot of plastic out from the rear speaker brackets and finally got them to sit in there ok. I could possibly have fitted them in the front, but you will need to either drill extra holes in the factory bracket or whip up some McGuyver **** to get them mounted on the front. I had to cut some spacers from another set of brackects and screw them onto the GM brackets in order to make my Kenwood 6 3/4"s fit in the front. You can see pics of what I did here. |

Hell yeah, I just finished installing the speakers. In the back, I had to cut a bunch of plastic from around the bracket to make the speakers fit, but they eventually did. In the front I used the brackets from crutchfield plus I cannabalized some plastic parts from another pair of brackets I found and bascially just used them to bridge the gap between screw holes. Took me a couple of hours to figure it out but at least I don't have crappy paper cones in there anymore. I'll post some pics later, right now I need to eat something and take a nap. update: pics here. |

s'true, brackets are the best bet, it's just that the one's we got don't work. I am looking around at local shops to see if I can get custom brackets made for the front speakers. In the back, I think if I just do some cutting I can get the speakers to fit, it's just gonna be a pain in the a$$. Someone I talked to also recommended using those metal strips with holes in 'em to bridge the gap between the speaker holes and the mounting holes, but I'm not sure how sturdy that would be. Those are cheap, though, and if custom brackets are too spendy, I might give it a try. |

fricking crutchfield, I'm never trusting them again. they said that 6 3/4" speakers would fit in the back, too, but I just got my other speakers and they don't fit either. Too large, looks like it needs 6 1/2" speakers. soldier4life: did you have to use brackets for the rear speakers too? I just know I'm going to end up paying someone too much money to install these things for me. |

Dammit, I have the same problem now. Where on crutchfield did you find those brackets? I bought my speakers from crutchfield and they said they were perfect fit (bastards), so hopefully they will just kick 'em down if they still have 'em. |

Hmm, I just bought a 97 st and I am thinking about putting a new header on it. Anyone know which type would require the least amount of modification to install? |
