whats on ur way are, the 2 cam seals on top, i think 5sfe might be just 1 cam seal from the top.
valve cover gasket,
crank seal,
oil pump seal, make sure the oil pump is good, inspect it.
water pump/water pump gasket, inspect the water pump make sure its not leaking, also push it in and out, from the pulley, see how the bearing feels.
replace the idlers/tensioners, if they make noise or arent smooth replace them, if they look new they should be fine. i would replace them so u dont have to worry about it again, it just makes noise usually, they rarely go bad.
if u have any other questions let me know.

My mechanic told me that there are three seals that he will change. I don't know how they are called though, but the water pump and the idle puller and tensioner will be changed. He will order the whole timing belt kit. I will ask him about the oil pump and seal as well. Any other suggestion?

Thanks,

Hi guys.

Can any of you inform me what seals have to be replaced when you are replacing your timing belt? My car has 196000 miles. I want to change all the seals near to that part of my car.

Thanks,

So my engine crapped out on me and I am pretty sure is gone. My cat was so hot that it actually was red when my car died on me. I don't know what happened but I certained I will have to either rebuild or buy an used engine so any ideas how much I would expending on this project.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated as I just painted my car and I felt in love again with it, I don't want to get rid off it.

Thanks, guys for any help or suggestions. I live in Orlando so any places where I can get a new engine or place where my engine can be rebuilt would be great.

might need to replace the temp sensor at the bottom.

Well, the other fan is working and the car is not overheating but i use my ac most of the time because i live in florida. I just notice that becuase i set my ac control to full and the ac fan motor should run but it didn't that is why i checked it by connecting the fan motor to the battery. I just need to know why relay controls that fan motor to test it and also i need the fuse location to check if it is working or not. I checked the relay for fan # 1 and it works fine. Where i am in doubt is why fan relay # 2 and # 3. Do both control the AC fan motor? or only one, and which one is the right one.

you talking about the blower for the AC and heater? its behind the glove box

not, i am talking about the one that sits on the radiator. It is located on the left by looking the engine bay.

I checked that the AC fan motor works by using couple of cables and connecting the fan directly from the battery. Then i checked the relays and there is only one that says FAN # 2 so i don't know if the relay is bad, checked relay for FAN # 3 by swapping the AC relay and the AC was working so i am guessing relay FAN # 3 was good. I was told to check the fuse but i can't find it. Can somebody direct to where i can find the AC FAN motor fuse and relay? Thanks for your help guys.

Hi, Guys! Well I just calculated my MPG and I am doing city driving 22.7 MPG. Not so good comparing with most of you, pals!
I just got a new Oxigen sensor=denso by the way, i noticed better MPG but i should be around 26 or 27 MPG. So what i should do to my car to get a better MPG. My spark plugs are new, cables are about 40000 miles old(NKG), new air filter, 30000 miles ago I changed dist cap and rotor. Also my EGR valve is not working properly, i got an engine code=insufficient flow. Do you think that if i clean it, I can get better MPG. Any other suggestion would be appreciated! My celica has already 170000 miles and leaking some oil.

All the stuff about fuel economy at cruising speed is irrelevant to the EGR system. Learn how it works before you go off on a tangent.

That raises a question for me - and it sounds like you can answer it/clear it up. I thought the EGR only actually came on at cruising speed (i.e. about 50 mph). So my question is, how would a faulty EGR affect stop-and-go driving if it doesn't activate until you hit 50?

Reason I ask is that I've been fighting with my friend's EGR on his Prizm (4AFE). We had to get it through DEQ, and after replacing the EGR w/no luck on the CEL, I finally just took it to a parts store and had the CEL reset, at which point we drove it to DEQ (about 6 miles) and kept it under 40 mph so the EGR wouldn't trigger and the CEL code would stay clear long enough to get it through DEQ. (Illegal, I know. Desperate measures, ya know...)

In his particular case, the CEL or bad EGR hasn't affected "performance" or gas mileage at all. I know on other cars though, a CEL would throw it into "safe mode" and make the car run like crap and get horrible mpg. Does this just not really apply on our particular cars (or variations thereof)?

Hi, Guys! i've been searching in the forums about the EGR valve, because my engine light came on and in autozone, the guy told me that my EGR valve was the the cause. So I live in Florida, so not emissions tests are required by law; my question is about if the EGR valve malfunction would have an impact on the MPG. I read a tread about the EGR valve not having an impact on my miles per gallon. Somebody said here that only the new oxigen sensor and a tune up can improve our MPG. I am asking because my MPG are a little poor right now so i was thinking that my bad EGR valve might have something to do with it.

thanks for your replies.

Do you know anything about their warranty on parts cause i am also looking for a new clutch. I found one EXEDY kit for sale on ebay @ 118 bucks but i just don't know if the seller is trustful.
