I see, thanks for the answer.
I basically have choice between the 2, but I just loaned for a 1991 mr2, and I need a daily (not urgent), so I thought I'd get an SS3...but if I wait a bit, pay off the mr2, then I can get another loan and get a gt4...
I guess I'll just start by paying the mr2 and then I'll start looking for a gt4 in 3-4 years.

I ultimately want a white ST205 with SS3 body kit and Scion TC wheels.

My goal is to keep them stock, but a little bit more to my taste using toyota parts from other cars
For exemple, my 1991 mr2 has the 1998 oem wheels and tail lights.

here's a picture of my girl:

I'm a previous owner of an ST205 WRC edition, I sold it due to work. They are almost impossible to get in my country.
I've been crossing some SS3's and I was wondering if they are worth anything? How well they develop with a gen3 3sgte swap?

Thanks!

So I finally sold my 94 GT4 WRC...Reason is I didn't had time to take care of her in my home country because I work outside my country 11 months a year.

I plan eventually of getting a Mr2 MkII, just for cruising and have some fun in corners, also to try a different class of car. I am moving to the dominican republic for my job...I think it's the perfect country for this car.

At first I thought of getting an Evo but I need a car I can maintain myself, and let's say it, my heart belong to Toyotas so I want a Toyota next...

My best option is to get a car that has been sold in the USA in the past, since it's easier to ship to this island...I guess the Mr2 is the best for my situation...and also a t-top in the Caribbean, who never dreamed of this?
Ah well, I know it's a Celica forum, but I know some own Mr2's and I hope I am welcome to ask questions around here and there about Mr2's.

Anyways, I just wanted to let that rock come out of my mind by writing it down here, I miss my girl already...

ahh I see...

well, I might just give it a rust proof and put a "for sale" on it...
I might move away for work and I won't be back in Canada for a long time...And taking my car with my is impossible unless it can float on water tongue.gif

lol im surprised nobody mentioned a good 1994 civic! but then again this is a toyota site, i better not talk such BLASPHEMY.

cop an old honda, just gotta watch out for the rice theives!

me personally i have had a DSM ever since i got a beater. when your main car is turbo, a beater is A MUST.

I drove a 1994 mitsubishi eclipse burned oil a bit smoked like crap when i turned corners (eventually stopped) i drove that car to like 262k when i got it i had like 170k on it! i bought the car for 800.

I now drive a 95 eagle talon, $800 bucks from the same friend i bought the eclipse from...

DSM has not failed me yet!

but my first choice for a beater would be toyota, honda,DSM, then whatever.... i dont like american cars AT ALL... i dont trust them ESPECIALLY beaters.

but then again... my talon is TECHNICALLY an american car, but watever.... /rant sorry to threadjack

Why is it a must for a turbo car?

What about the tercel/Paseo? found a nice deal for 500$ not a single spot of rust, 140k miles on it and clutch was recently changed...I heard that was the only issue with that car...for 500$ I guess I can't go wrong kindasad.gif

I'm shopping for a winter beater, because I don't want my beautiful St205 in the mud and shiz.

I found 2 interesting deals.

the first one is a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire, with ~142k miles on it. not a single trace of rust and engine bay seems in order, guy asking 900$, I could deal at 800$

The second one is a 1999 Alero, same mileage as the sunfire, car is on primer because the rust was sanded but wasn't repainted, engine bay is in order, too. for 500$

My 3rd choice would be to shop around for a dodge neon. I would go with a tercel but they are a bit overpriced where I am from kindasad.gif

ughh I so need this answered and didnt want to start a new thread. Has anybody physically seen the the SS-III twin piston calipers. I need to know if the Twin Piston SS-III Calipers use the same mounting points at the single piston Mcpherson brakes used on ST204 and ST202 SS-II Celica's! biggrin.gif

I don't have your answer, but I got mine, topic is yours now wink.gif

I heard that some of the breaking parts (discs, pads...) from the 1994 Supra fits on the St205, can anyone confirm that?

Are kyb Gr2 and bilstein gas filled shocks?

I think yes...I'm not sure...

following the topic, will dropping the suspension be harder on the lower control arms and figure8?

So would you have to do custom modification to get the mac struts to work on a gtfour with SS?
Or would it simply be, get the Mac parts, and bolt them into the gtfour with ss?

Honestly I don't know! but it would be logical to me that if you change the whole direction system, suspension and even the spindles. But at this point, you're downgrading your brakes because the GT4 brakes won't be able to fit anymore due to the front wheel drive system. So you'd be to re-upgrade to a braking system you could use on a "normal" celica.

At this point you're looking for lots of $$$, either but all this from a front clip, or buy another celica that you'll take all your parts from. So, you've got nothing under 2000$, and if you can't do it and have to pay someone to do it...it's gonna cost you for the time it takes to do this kind of work.

So now, I think you better just keep the SSS and just change the parts you need when you'll get the clunk...and from what I've read, the SSS parts lasts for about 100k ( not sure if miles or kms), how long does it take you to reach 100k on a car? 5? 8? 10 years?

And, the SSS is SO enjoyable! I'll have a hard time getting used to Macs again on my future cars!

(Again, I'm not sure if everything I wrote is GOOD information, if someone could confirm this with me I'd really appreciate!)

So I've read through this whole thread and still haven't gotten a defininative answer.
Is it possible/worth the money to convert a super strut gt four, to a macpherson set up

It is possible...
and for the price, all depends if you do it yourself or if you get it done by someone.
There's lots of fitting to do and mods to change...

Personally, even if I've got the clunk once, I'm wouldn't do the conversion, because it's a unique system and it's fun to use

Yeah but in Ontario pur pay 3x what we pay in Quebec.

I pay 700 yearly fully insured on both sides and all the things that goes with it: fire, theft and vendalism

I'm selling you mine if you want...anyways there's not much St205 in Quebec...

So, if I change the lower arms, banana arms and the figure8, do I need to re-align the wheels after?
And if I still hear the squeeking sound, and I don't fix it, is it dangerous after a while?

Thanks again!

What's the drop rating for your springs? Know that GR-2 struts will do well with any drop up to 1.5", reportedly failing beyond that point. Having said that, that drop looks quite low. I'd guess 3". Sure something didn't go wrong in installation, or else is defective? Let me try to dig up some numbers on those springs before I go further...

Thanks, I'd appreciate, I've got those for free, but after winter I reinstalled the OEM shocks, but now I thought of lowering the car again...

this is how low it will be if I put them back on...

I meant the SS-III side skirts and splitters replica tongue.gif
