the burien kit is a good deal it used to be 3k....and you get all the little parts you need, all the hoses, grommets, seals, etc that you need. if you go get parts from a junkyard then you have to go buy new seals/gaskets/grommets/rubber parts etc. and that can be a pain in the ass when you pull the injectors out and have forgoten the lil rubber o-rings for them. it may be cheaper to go junk yard diving, but where i live there is a better chance of getting hit my lightning while pissing on a electric fence while contracting monkeypox from a viral hedgehog then finding any turbo toyota to get a manifold and a turbo from. i have an intercooler on mine, it came off a audi s4 =) with a kit you also dont have to worry about getting custom tubing/piping done either. plus that its all new parts =) if your gonna turbo, then turbo right, and the easiest way is with a kit like from burien.

i think the racing pyramid is as follows
i think circuit racing/road racing/WRC/TOCA tour/F1 are the series styles that show the most skill
drag racing also requires skill but i dont think as much as the ones above

i think as far as reflexes and skill and the ability to cope WRC is the king

yeah the MX-3s came with a optional 1.8l v6 hahah

yeah the S4 rocks, and so does a 911
but they are totally different cars so you cant compare them
my friend would like something like a 911 but needs a 4 door seeming alot of ppl are always riding with him, and he drives long distances often, you cant beat an S4 in its price/quality/sedan category in my opinion he bought his with 30k miles on it for around 30k which is a good price, and the warranty is extended to 100k miles

i would buy a light flywheel, when you lighten a stock peice it could explode due to weakening and thats highly dangerous

my first race in my car, stock, was against a mazda mx-3 v6 (its hilarious someone actually made a 1.8 liter v6) he beat me off the line cause i launched to high, but i caught him in the top of second and passed him and then his clutch got way too hot and wouldnt shift into third lol

i raced a honda crx with 4 different primer color body panels in my friends Audi S4 tonight...can we say slaughter lol =)

the first race i had after all my mods was up against a mustang GT, it was an easy victory

look into getting a larger diameter turbo down pipe, sometimes on some cars there is as much as 30hp hiding in a restrictive downpipe, i dont know if there are after market ones for the gt4 but i am sure there is.
i would buy the boost controller, turbo timer, exhaust (the super dragger is a good one) and a intake and look into the downpipe

i am running a small intercooler that comes from a audi s4 , my friend upgraded his s4 to rs6 intercoolers and i used one of his old intercoolers, its small but works well and i have had no pobs so far, i will prolly eventually buy a bigger intercooler, and replace the thrown together system i have now

typically the resurfacing of the flywheel isnt enough material removed to cause a difference, all it is doing is basicall taking off a layer of your clutch disc to expose the flywheel, it also adds a lil ruffness to it for better engagement, you shoundt have to worry about anything like increased gap

i said i was more than 200hp, 200hp is the stock burien kit @ 7psi
i am running 14psi, and with alot more stuff than just the turbo also
if i had to guesstimate i am pushing over 250hp, i eat z28s, mustang GTs, and trans am on a regular basis now, rather easily.

i have no problems what so ever with the stock tranny and the powe ri am pushing, it is holding up great
i would buy a better tansmission, but i see no reason to, and i just shelled out the serious cash for the turbo kit, so anything else is gonna have to wait a while, and the next thing i am doing is selling my cams to a friend, and buying a 3s head to slap on it.

i dont have pics YET i will soon, i plan on getting a dv camera soon
i dont have a dyno result yet either, but will shortly
i was gonna g-tech the car tonight but instead i drove my friends audi S4 =) when we went out (i never pass up a chance to drive that car)

i have not had any timing issues as of date with the stock ECU, i checked it the old fashion way, and i run a aftermarket ignition and bosch +4 platinum plugs, with 93 octane or higher gas. i am planning on installing a greddy e-manage eventually for fule map problems and tweaking

the only thing i have noticed is my cars temp runs a lil higher, more towards the middle guage, it used top be about a quarter up, but i figured it would with the turbo anyhows, and after i removed my headlight and put the intake right behind that hole its running a slight bit cooler i think, i might sell my tv and buy an intercooler of some sort because if i am gonna run anyhigher boost i would want that

that and 155hp to the wheel is not that bad...remember the powertrain loss, 200hp at the crank can easil;y only be 155-170 hp to the wheel, i am unsure of the percentage of powertrain loss on our cars, but most ppl use a 15% percent rule, so using that you would be a lil low, and the sensor could cause that. if you do get the sensor and get more power great =) there are ways to free up hp trapped in the powertrain, like lightened flywheels

the rods and pistons where a lil over 1200 bucks (8.5:1), the cams were 620 + s&h, which was around 30 if i remember correctly, head gasket was a lil over 60, arp head studs were 160, fuel pressure regulator was around 65. kit was 2500, i have about 7600 in the motor, and before i get the typical "you can get a 3sgte for that" comments i didnt want a 3sgte, i didnt want the wiring headaches, and i wanted to build the 5S because thats not real common, and i know i can run if not out run a 3sgte powered celi (stock or slightly modded) i have been tempted to try a head swap with a 3sgte head, but if i do thats gonna have to wait till i get more than a couple bucks in my account =)

1. take your time, make sure if you move any wires or hoses that the are away from your exhaust manifold....or it will melt, the turbo adds heat you know, i didnt have to move hardly anything when installing, but i dont have a big stereo or any neon like alot of ppl do.

2. take you time, do it right and replace any gaskets and seals for safe measure, never use them twice =), i took my 10 or so hours to install the turbo kit, nothing too serious, i also had three friends to help, and have the supplies like locktite, zip ties, etc on hand

3. the fact that out exhaust manifolds are on the front of the car so that was easy, if you have a manual on your car youll make sure you dont miss any bolts =)

4. put a big peice of carpet under the car when its on stands, so if you drop something it doesnt take 30
mins to find a lil bolt or washer...hrmm how would i know that =P

5. when making dress up parts outta 20 gauge polished stainless..ALWAYs where gloves...why i didnt i dunno...i know am missing large peice of thumb (hence bad typing)

6. i upgraded my clutch before installing the turbo, i dont know how well the stock one will take to at least 45 added hp (7psi)

7. i killed a o2 sensor by dropping it

8. youll need toyota part 90404-19002 for a new oil union/valve unit, my local dealer had them in stock (12.99)

9. the turbo is on the same side as the inlet on the throttle body, so its easy to install the rubber hose to connect it to the turbo, the whole setup is really nice looking, its just a shame the manifold heat shelid donest fit anymore, but i am making one outta stainless steel (hence injury) i plan on getting some metal piping made

10. i didnt like where it puts the k&n filter on the kit (under where the stock air bx was) so i made a custom intake for it

11. you will have to remove your vavle cover to get to the injectors, prime time to paint it =)

12. read the instructions =)

there really isnt anything too look out for when installing the kit, just do it right and youll be happy. the instructions included are really great

i run dunlop 5000s on the stock rims
with KYB shocks, and trd sport springs
i like the dunlops cause i dont get tire hop like i do with goodyear gt4s

no i have not at all, there is not a dyno any where around here, but at 7psi o stock pistons its like 200 at the wheel, i am running the burien kit, but as you can see i have alot of other mods....i have had the turbo on the car for a lil less than a week and have not met a car here yet than can hang with me, especially in 3rd..its hellacious =) i get mad traction probs too, i might upgrade the rims to a wider (215? or 225?) when the bank account recovers lol =-) ill g-tech it this weekend and let you know what it says tho i would type more but i messed my thumb up really really bad building the Stainless sheet metal housing got my HKS sus megaflow that sits behind my drivers side light lol...damn blood on the keyboard...wink.gif

pul the carpet outta your car, carefully...youll have to take the seats out. you will find big nasty bubbly sheets of stuff same color as your car, this is sound deadening, and it heavy heavy, so if you dont mind the niose, grab a hammer, chisel, and heat gun and pull that shi* out! My friends car had 45 pounds of the stuff in it!!
