so could you not go to car-part.com and get the mr2 tranny as well? and couldnt you go to autozone to get axles? or would it generally be more expensive? |

yes it says it. I have an st with an auto tranny and its very odd.. when i hop into my car and drive off, it wont kick into 4th for a while...Ill be drivin in 3rd with high rpms for at least 2-4 minutes before it kicks into 4th.another symptom is the colder it is, the longer it takes to upshift.but it still does it sometimes even if its warm outside!.. now before you think its just cuz i didnt let my car warm up, your wrong. i could come home, and after say an hour or two, go back out and it will do it again...i dont understand becuase when i do let it warm up, it will be fine... but i cant sit there and let my car warm up for 8 minutes everytime after its been sitting an hour or two... please help!! |

ive done trayin many times in my friend's dad's beater car (96 ford aspire)..its alotta fun. We even experiemented with cookie sheets and plywood, cuz the plastic subway trays we used we burnt holes in after about 10 minutes lol. i dont dare do it in my car though cuz i have seen guys tear up their drivetrain doing it... i dunno what it was, on some website (traysliding.com????) but yeah a civic was doin it for about 30 minutes and white smoke startin comin up outta his hood...so i said Not in My Car!! |

^^^ parts arent necessarily cheap in DSM's... my friend bought a 97 talon tsi awd and 4th gear went out a little while later...Turns out that other parts of the drivetrain were damaged ( i dont remember how) but anyway basically to get his transmission just REBUILT, cost him 2500...ok u have to remember, AWD trannys are expensive as hell. so yes you may be able to soup the cars up for cheap, but you cant necessarily "fix" them for cheap.... also another tid-bit...i know 3 guys with turbo dsm's... 2 have crankwalk....the ONLY way u can fix this is by swapping the engine....and nobody on this site can just say " oh well yeah all u gotta do is slap a 1st gen motor in it"....easier said than done...i suggest if you are really interested go to dsmtuners.com to check out info on them...my best friend drives a dsm, so i know almost as much about them, as i do about celicas...and yes if you have a dsm you WILL become a mechanic... |

AWD is all about traction...yes u can 250 horsepower, but without proper traction, all ull do is spin wheels. AWD Is great traction but the best fwd solution to traction problems would have to be having a transmission equipped with LSD. just my two cents. |

oh i was just asking you why there is no market for 2 door turbos anymore.. like literally i dont know why so i ask you lol. i see nothing around my town...there isnt not one all trac in town, a few 5th gens, maybe 5 6th gens, and a butt load of 7th's. theres a good number of dsm's round here though that are turboed. what we do have around here are alot of guys runnin around in their protege turbos, neon turbos and other stupid crap... i just hate em cuz i feel it defeats the purpose. why do u need a turbo-charged grocery getter? gotta spool down the road to pick up you kid from school? sedan = family and families shouldnt being riding around in super fast cars is my two cents. But yeah i was just askin why the market is all for turbo sedans over two doors??? it just frustrates me |

[QUOTE]There's no U.S. market for a 2 door AWD turbocharged sports car. That's the big difference maker... the celica is a 2 door sports car... not a 4 door sports sedan. As far as a competitive price goes... gt-4s always were in the 30K range... so that's also very unlikely. ^Just wondering man, why is there no market for 2-door AWD turbos??? i am so sick of seeing mommy sedans flying around with their big ass ends up in the air looking like box |

dont buy a nissan! DAMN, if ur gonna drop 15 grand for a new car when you got two already, take that and move out!!or at least buy something useful...rx-7 = fun, fast car. celica = fun daily driver. Get a 4x4 truck or somethin so you can experience off road driving. Just my 1/2 cent |
