I can't give specifics on anything as you need to research your states laws,
i am not trying to be secretive on unhelpful but honestly it is the truth.

First issue would be finding a st205 first.. also could consider moving to
Canada in 09' as they will be popping up there and legalized..

Now i am not an importer or have any more connections to get st205s
i just happen to be in right place at the right time 5 yrs ago..

Nor do i have a "how to legalize your st205" manual or tips. It can be done
but factors such as state laws and regulations come into play. You deal 100%
with local dmv and not US government, they mainly are dealt with at port.It is much easier
to title a jdm in certain states then others..

Im in my mid 30's now and funny part was back in 94-95 i saw a st205 in a magazine and
wanted one just didn't think it would really happen 8 yrs later

14k is not too bad but only if in near mint cond and low miles.

Just for reference i got my 63,000 mile ST205wrc for 6000 shipped but i had to drive
4500 miles and to another country to pick up after that so lets
say 6500 from japan to my driveway. Now mine needed complete
front end replace (hood,fenders,bumper,etc..) so add 2000 for all the
parts including projectors (btw i got all the st205 parts from US Toyota
at shop price !) so we are up to 8500 now parts need paint but whole
car is getting painted so add 2500 or so ..11000 here we come.

also found a real TRD spoiler on ebay.au for 140usd and in same color
this came from a yard in japan and surpised no one caught it before me.
plus add all the 98 jdm parts you can think of (not seats or dual airbag dash though)
and were up to 12500 for a freshly painted 98 spec st205..

Now if mine wasn't wrecked by young japanese girl who loved hello kitty and skiing
then price would have been about 10000 shipped so 14000 unwrecked not bad..

As for 3 spokes .. not even cool in 1995 ...not sure what toyota was thinking ..i have them and
not so hot ..

if you havent already you need to swap over the top bumper mount from rad support of st205 .. it is raised

in the middle for 205 bumper and hood .. this might be dumb question but why didn't you just use st205

rad support ..?

i needed a rad support for my st205 and ended up finding a st205 empty clip and drove across country to

pick up just to have correct bumper mounting and i wanted orginal part to fix st205

taking offers on like new air bag set to fit all models 94-96 may fit 07 as well not sure about
ecu on 97's ..

will include dr side / pass side and cover and ecu .. you need all of this when replacing toyota bags .

they are 100% same as jdm amber ones .. i may have extra set available ..

being hacked a few days before auction ending my sniper account was deactivated due to ebay being messed up so

consider youself lucky .. lol ..

Coustoe i hope you get a nice GT4 since you are importing the hard way ..

l towed my GT4 across canadian border and i was amazed at how easy it was to cross considering going to canada i was stuck at crossing for 6 hours with paperwork issues for a legal del sol i was taking to calgary and i had just drank 2 huge energy drinks and was jumpy which did not help .. US and canadian customs search my car 3 times since i looked nervous .. not fun ... now i was laughing in my head as i don't even smoke and i am a clean cut 30 yr old guy w/ no record and these clowns were just wasting their time .. there was a muslims couple sitting next to me and i felt bad as you have to have tons of paperwork to cross if you even look middle eastern ...

coming back i was calm and cool and 10 mintues later i was rolling .. i almost peeled out of customs lot i was so excited ...

think about the worst cop you have every met .. double that and that is nicest customs
clown for either country i saw first day ... i came back on a Sat and the laid back crew was working .. very diff crew.. kiss their ass a lot and you will be fine ..

make sure you have all paper work in order 100% .. anything can hold you .. the more paper work the better ..

i have wing on my GT4 .. my biggest fear is about wing .. i am going to reinforce my wing .. i live out in boonies in Indiana so no one gives a crap .. i would be more worried if wing was on camaro or mustang .. lol ..of course i can't drive car yet around town ..

more then likely thief will sell to a buddy locally .. not on ebay . i doubt theif is smart enough to use ebay ...

look for wing on a 89 cutlass or maybe a rusty cavailer ..lol ...

my car will never be legal in the way you might think . like i said 10 years of waiting and research will not go to waste ..

i am not even dealing with DOT as that is a waste of time ..

my car was brought in as clip (listed as 2 clips) so there is no way i could go to DOT anyway ..

i have not talked about legalizing since my car still needs repaired so i have not even started titling yet ..

i am not saying do this but look at kid in NH with red ebay 96 GT4 .. it has swapped vins, went through inspection and no issues .. cops make fun of him for driving on wrong side..

heck i was stopped by some guy in MT at a mcdonalds and this buddy had a RHD silva titled in MT . with jap vin ..

like i said you get GT4 into country and rest will be easy ..but car will never be DOT legal at least on paper ..

hmm.. 7k total in my GT4 WRC here in the US ..

i have connections galore but w/o crash data or a letter from Toyota stating car meets DoT standards forget about it .. you will never get letter .. unless by some miracle it was a LHD w/ dual airbags then you might have a chance ..

we can speculate all night and day about what to do ..

there is a guy who i know on email who is trying to import his GT4 from UK to US legally .. has to add airbags and more .. i will email him to see if i can get some info for you all ..

i have been trying to get a GT4 since 94 so i can tell you i have done just about about all the research a guy can do .. took 10 years but its here lol ..

my supplier in Calgary will 100% for sure have his 97 GT4 up for sale next year .. car is in Canada now ..

Damaged to both doors and a fender .. front and rear is fine .. he is having fixed soon .. replacing entire doors shells .. damage is to parts used on US/JDM cars so fixing will be easy .. car runs great ..

will be sold RHD .. complete US celica GT may be included as parts car for possible LHD conv..

i know he wants at least 11-12k US for it when done .. if you want damaged might be able to get a little cheaper and i am sure he will throw in parts to fix ..

if you seriously want a GT4 by next summer and REALLY have the funds i can give you more info ..

i must say car is bone stock except for legalis R exhast and i was lauging like a school girl driving it here out in the country .. can't wait to do some minor mods ..

i am leaving pretty much bone stock for now as i need to wrap up the mr2 3.3l v6 in the background ..

well some of you may have seen on celica.net that guy bought red ebay st205 and he drives it around w/o issues w/ rhd.. even w/ swapped vins ..

my all trac buddies are 50/50 split .. all of them are my age (30 ish) and a few say leave it and some say convert ..

i guess my biggest issues with go LHD is i have to strip the entire front. i already have to do that to mr2 in back ground .. ugh .. i am sick of stripping cars .lol

i would like to take to some shows next year like HIN or NOPI so more of you guys can check it out ..

or convert to LHD ..










i already have a US front clip just need a better dash and order LHD ABS lines..

i have no issues driving RHD.. it seems a bit weird at first but you adjust .

i would never convert a car to RHD and my only reason i would consider leaving
RHD is the car is like new inside and i hate to get rid of it ..

Please reply about the above question .. do not start asking about legal issues as i just want to here what side i should sit on ..

i am older than most guys on here so i could care less about impressing the "boyz" at the local hang out so give me some good opinions..
