are you using the 20v ignitor? Also double check all of the vacuum lines and make sure they are connected in the right locations. Also, check for check engine codes to see what you come up with and post them as soon as you can.

Its the ecu.I open it up and it was burned in one spot on both ecu's! I think where its burned out at controls the VVT.

After doing the swap the car runs but it wont idle right. it idles at 800rpms and it wont go faster then 60mph.
I been trying to get this fixed right for 2 months now. I changed the ECU and i also changed the MAF thinking it would be these two things but it didnt work. When i put the new ECU in it ran right for like 4 or 5 days then it went back to the same problem. It feels like its holding back power and it smells like heavy gas fumes all the time.
Can any one help with some ideas to what it could be!??

Thanks guys.

Hmm and you just got the silvertop you say? did you do any upgrades on the motor when you got it? and what transmission are you using? this may be in the very near future for me, just need to price some things first
EDIT: Oh yeah and around how much was your final cost of doing all of this?

No upgrades except for a short ram intake. Im using the standerd tranny it came with. Its the same as the 7afe tranny. Final coast was about $1,800.

Feels stronger on pulls! And its sounds like a beast. I would say its way faster then my old 7afe motor.

I know $600 sounds like a lot, but Dr. Tweak does this stuff every day. If I had a cut harness, I'd be getting a big enough box to mail it to him. I wouldn't chance it. Bad wiring will screw over your entire swap. Cut wires = engine never starts. Then you've blown all your money on a motor and taken the good motor out of your car so now you don't have any money OR a running car. Just send the harness to Tweak unless you're brave enough to look over wiring diagrams for hours and if you have a second car to drive while your Celica is out of commission.

Forgot to say what I meant to say... Good luck with the swap! Be sure to give us a good progress thread. There aren't enough 4A-GE swapped Celicas around 6gc. I have a project Celica and I totally wish it was an ST so I could do the 4A swap. Good luck and keep us updated!

Will do bro! will post pic's soon!

Save yourself trouble and confusion and send it to Dr. Tweak. He's a member on here. I'm pretty sure he can do that harness for you.

I talked to him! They want to charge me $600 to $700 to do the conversion!! Thats crazy money to hook up some wires man!! mad.gif
