Yes, both JDM GT-T caldinas(3sgte) have it, and RS200 altezza's(3sge)

QUOTE (JDM7afe @ May 6, 2004 - 3:24 PM)
hey kinda on the subject, i was watching SPEED channel the other day and they dynoed a corrola with the 4agze with a pulley upgrade to 12 psi, exhaust, and intake and the guy expected his car to put down at least 200 to the wheels and it only hit 140. HOWEVER i have read articles on dynos and this one magazine tested a 350z at like 7 dynos on one day and they got different numbers from every place. so i think the dyno under rated his car by at least 15 hp. dont know if any of you guys saw that ...

Preston

Damn that guy was dreaming if he thought that combo would get him 200hp at the wheels. 140hp sounds about right, thats around 170hp at the engine.

neoklis the bonnet doesnt get v hot anyway. It will get hotter sitting out in the sun for 20 minutes, i wouldnt even worry about it

I'll second that smile.gif

Really, it wont matter at all that the insulation isnt there anymore. The sun would do more damage than under bonnet heat to the paint.

Yeah, i thought that after i typed it biggrin.gif

Only some of the GTR's had 4ws, their model number was st183, as opposed to st182 for the non 4ws

I think I heard something before that the SX-R was all wheel steering or something like that. I'll try to find more info on it.

edit: NM I think that was the celica GTR that was awd.

I'm thinking the australian models were sx=st and sx-r=gt.

The only 4wd celica is the gt4

The GTR is the JDM 4th and 5th gen celica equiped with the 3sge.
There is also the ZR, the 5th gen that has the 3sfe.

In the 6gc group there is the ss-1, which has a 3sfe, and the ss2 and ss3,which both have the 3sge. Im not too sure what the differences were between the earlier(1993-1997) ss2 and ss3, but the 98-99 ss3 has the beams 3sge and the same spoiler blocks as the GT-4

QUOTE (FAQdaWorld @ May 4, 2004 - 4:10 PM)
I'm fairly confident that 4 more pounds of boost would give you roughly 30 more hp, and with the ae101 4agze you'd be baselining w/ 170 hp, so that puts u right about at 200 crank hp. In the end you'd prolly still only have 170 at the wheels, but its better than 144 hp at the wheels tho (Prolly what u'd have w/ the stock ae101 4agze.)

-Ryan

So your saying that midget supercharger is capable of giving an extra 7.5hp per additional pound of boost? I doubt it, that would mean my old ct20b would be at least 10hp per psi, and it sure as hell didnt do that.

Oh for whoever cares, another mate of mines stock GTZ levin put down 97kw(130hp) at the wheels.

I think your being a bit optomisic about that power increase. An increase of 15-20hp would be closer to the mark.

Toyota nz have got the black top rated at 118kw(158hp) which is probably closer to the mark. A mate of mine had his ae101 FX-GT dynoed and that put down 89kw at the wheels. Only mod was an exhaust(2.25" i think). With an 18% powerloss thrown in that equals to about 110kw(147hp) at the engine. So i guess you could safely assume that a stock silvertop is somewhere betweem 100-110kw(134-147hp)

Hope that helps biggrin.gif

Well my one put down 228hp at the wheels with exhaust, filter and more boost.

My guess a stock one would do about 195ish hp. The drivetrain loss is about 25%

they didn't make the WRX back then, it was the 2.5RS and they were as slow as my slushbox ST.

WRX's have been made since 1992. Along with evo's and skylines they are one of the most common performance cars around over here rolleyes.gif Which is part of the reason why i got a GT-Four in the first place-to have a bit of exclusivity biggrin.gif

QUOTE (neoklis @ Apr 29, 2004 - 3:15 PM)
Hey hold on here. I did not say i cannot be functional. I was just answering a question regarding the need of a scoop for a tmic and said that the factory does not have it as functional. I will be removing the heat shield material from my gt4 as well. Its much better as the car breaths much better and you can hear the turbo spooling louder. I am only concerned about the heat and any damage that can cause to the hood's paint. btw normal summer temp in my country is 40deg Celc. so you can see why i worry so much about the heat.

Im not so sure that it would hurt the paint much if at all. The vent would let out a lot of the heat from the engine bay, plus the aluminium doesnt seem to retain the heat much,so you should be right wink.gif

Actually that timing belt snorkle isnt functional straight from factory either, theres another plate that blanks it off. I'll find out exactly where it is and get back to yous.

The existing air vent probably doesnt have that much effect on the intercooler itself, but as said before if you have a GT4 definitly make it operational, as it lets a massive amount of heat out of the engine bay.

Plus it looks cool when it rains... biggrin.gif

I believe the st185 or any of the 3S-GTE motors have forged pistons.

you believe wrong tongue.gif

None of the 3sgte's come with forged internals

All good, i beg to differ though. The celica has a too pointy front, and a big rear spoiler accentuates it even more. Maybe look at getting a front lip or spoiler to lessen the pointiness? Worked for me biggrin.gif

I personally think that the no rear spoiler look on Celicas is awesome, so perhaps you could do that next, if it appeals to you. Have a look at my profile to see what it can look like wink.gif

well my car is about 1540 kg incl. 1/2" fuel and drivers weight 82 kg.

regatus
marcus

p.s. yes - clutch work on a GT4 is one of the ****ing expensive mods... smile.gif

Thats not that much over what i said if you take your weight and the weight of the fuel(around 35kg) out of the equation. My car weighed in at 1500kg with me (90kg) and just under a quarter of a tank(15kg-ish) in it.

Oh and it is alot harder to do a clutch in a GT-4, because the whole engine has to come out first(you cant just drop the gearbox out from the bottom)
