Turboing a 7th gen would not be too good of a move ... If my memory serves me right those things have 11.5:1 compression and that kinda compression usually doesn't make for good forced induction setups. |

Well I guess my thoughts were wrong. I suspected that the two would be able to keep up with each other but I guess the 7th gen kills. I guess I'll be tryin to find one of those instead. It's just the whole concept of newer car and all ... plus you can get a lot more stuff for them then for 6th gens. By the way ... any sites where I can get some in depth info on those (other than celica.net)? |

I got a question. How would the 7th gen USDM GT-S keep up with a 6th gen GT? I love them both and I'm startin to lean towards a 7th gen cause it's newer but I dont' wanna settle for a slow piece. The GT-S make about 150 HP with VVTL-i right? And the GT is about ... 110? I think they would both be the same ... so can I get some backup on this? |

As the topic says ... which one might win? My friend has a CRX and it seems to have a slight amount of balls. I was thinkin a GT Celi would be able to keep up if not spank it. He says those things run around 16.2 on the 1/4 mi so I figured a GT would be somewhere around there. Any comments other than Hondas suck ... which I told him by the way a million times but hey .. Honda lovers love their Hondas (and I guess they can be pretty nice cars if you're not like most Honda owners) |

The 4G63 is not all that reliable. My brother owns a 95 TSI Talon, which is the exact same thing as GSX Eclipse, and he drives it maybe 3 months out of the year. The car is just ridiculously unreliable. Every mod you put on it makes the car less and less reliable. It might be good stock, but if you're serious about performance then you better buy somethin else to drive on the side when your car is in the shop or garage. Besides, it's a proven fact, those cars break down waaaaaay too much. |

Thanks for the backup info. I didn't think parts would line up like that ... since the Celica and Supra are not much alike. I just read that and it made me wonder, so I asked here. |

I picked up some info from alltrac.net and it says there that: There are plenty of upgrades available right within our own vehicle lineup. Here is a quick version of what is known to work for us. JZA80 = 1993-1998 Supra TT MA70 = 1987-1992 Supra Turbo SW20 = 1991-1995 MR2 Turbo So do the Supra parts really line up? I never expected them to, so I decided to ask around here. And I'm pretty sure this is only for the 3s-gte ... since it is alltrac.net and well alltracs are 3s-gte. |

I thought that Celicas had no problem with traction, even after the swap. I picked that up on this forum elsewhere a while ago. Well then, speakin of traction, for you guys that have done the swap already, how does the traction work our for ya? |

Ok so I was thinking right. I was just wondering ... why do people crave for AWD so much. I've ridden in my brother's TSI Talon and yea it's insane just cuz it pulls like crazy but I imagine it would feel almost the same if you simply had around 250 HP. |

Alright ... since the 3S-GTE orriginally belongs to an AWD vehicle ... and since AWD cars lose more power through the flywheel, then once you put on that mean engine on a FWD car ... would you actually be making more power than if you had AWD? I know AWD rules and gets insane traction and lunches like crazy so it would probably still be faster ... but I'm just wondering about the power. |

I think this site is great. It has just about every little thing you wanna know about a 6gen and the forums are also great. I started visiting this site couple months ago when I was a "virgin" in the 6 gen world and it helped me a lot to understand about the cars. I asked questions on the forums that I didn't know and every single time got an answer. I visit the forum just about every day and read all the posts and I don't think there's a problem on here at all. But of course ... there's some people that get a little snappy or testy but what do ya do? |

Yea I got ya man .. I figured that would be the cause but I was just wondering if it would be dangerous to run your engine on that kidna compression without a turbo. |

As noted .... this might possibly sound dumb but I decided to ask you guys anyway. If you rebuilt your engine and put in forged pistions and rods and all the other goods included. Would it be safe to run on a relatively low compression ... let's say 8.5:1 ... without a turbo or anything else. I just got to thinkin since swaps are most likely the greatest pain in the ass, you could strengthen the head by upgrading the major components and slap on a turbo later. |

Yea I know it was my bad, but the DOT screwed me over way more than they should've. That was my point. 1 1/2 is way too much punishment for anything ... you only get 6 months for DUI. |

Thanks for the explanation on the terminology. I've been to howstuffworks before and read that already but I read it again and it makes a helluva a lot more sense all of a sudden. I'm still interested in what the measurements represent. Like when you see cam gears that are labeled 256 or somethin to that effect. Any explanations on this? |
