smile.gif Our babies have the same wheels... but mine is only 18"

They do indeed matey

only thing that make mine unique

is that b4 i bought em i told the guy to repaint em in a platium silver

so they were powder coated in black and then silver top coats applied

thus giving them a darker silver finish.

anyways i think they really suit the car smile.gif

QUOTE (BenMMellor @ Jan 18, 2004 - 11:13 AM)

Eliet, exactly what i said in the post i put on the Backfire lights thread.

Glad to know they're selling well in the Uk though Eliet.. lets see the response from Shogunkid when I post that the gearknobs are ready.

cheers Ben

just read that thread now

what they seem to forget is .....thats life

i mean when we want a kit or induction kit thats only available in the US we have to fork out a fortune in shipping etc... twice what the yanks pay for it
and its the same anywhere if you want to import something from abroad
depending on the value of your currency compared to that of where your buying from will greatly affect the price

No doubt there will be a big moan about the gearknobs aswell
even though they look f****n ace

i got all 4 JDM spec headlights

from www.fensport.co.uk

and they sell em for £425 + Vat + shipping for all 4 lights

but as your in US your not liable for Vat so you can get em at that price

which in U.S. Dollars is $748.49 + shipping which seems cheap to me compared to all the prices you guys seem to be paying!

check their site biggrin.gif

My baby has 19' tekno instincts finished in platinum silver

with 225/35/19 goodyear F1 on the front
and 235/35/19 toyo T1S on the back

because i have lowered suspension i had to get the front arches cut rolled and pulled out and the arch liner removed
so that there would be no rubbing

at the back no modification was required

p.s. i know a 6 gen in aussie which had 20's on !!!

The bonnet (hood) is custom made.

as far as getting your designs made up in fibreglass your lookin at hell of alot of gelt

as they have to do everything from scratch there's alot of work involved in making such a thing

you could maybe try and see if there is a company willing to make you up your design for you at vastly reduced rate in exchange that they keep the design and take a mould of it and mass produce them for the aftermarket

but this would be very hard to do and alot of work involved as they would want to see sufficient demand for the kit etc...
try approaching some local fiberglassers who have experience in this field
or better still an aftermarket kit manufacturer

Good luck mate.

p.s. what i did was buy some cheap copy erbuni style kit and a a bumper etc from a scrap yard took them to a specialist company who do custom bodywork
and asket them to make a quality well fitting kit from it and then they could sell more versions on if later
so they moulded the various bit to the bumper cut and shaped, fiberglasses, and rubbed everything down when it was finished they took a mould of the whole bumper and then when the mould was ready all they did was pour fiberglass in it and .... voila the new bumper with kit as i wanted in one whole seamless piece biggrin.gif

That bumper lip is custom as is all the kit on my car but it's all based on the erbuni style kit
though i do think the company that did the kit and spray job took moulds and are now selling it mad.gif Check www.sabreautostyling.com

P.S. here is a pic of the front

The reason they are not cheap is because it costs thousands of dollars to produce such a kit
you are paying for the work and tooling involved

It's just like for example when you buy a blitz exaust which woul cost over $1000 (in the uk anyway not sure about US)
you think that it's stupidly overpriced, surley a bit of steel does not cost that more than $50 trade and labour not more than another $50
you would probably be right....

but why you pay so much is because of the cost of superior design that went to producing the prototype which costs thousands and then the thousands spent on the tooling and machines to produce that prototype so that more will be able to be made for the retail market etc etc..

with these lights for axample the cast alloy block of the prototype which the special plastic is moulded on that just by itself cost in the reigon of $4000
all in all imagine investing approx $30,000 to produce these lights and the risk you take for your business to produce this kit hoping that you sell enough to just break even before you even make a profit...
and you will understand why some aftermarket items cost so much money
aside for paying for the quality of the item and the materials to make it
you have to take into consideration the amount of research, time , labour etc.. involved to manufacture a retail item never done before.

another one, why are veilside kits so much more than say a cheap copy of exactley the same kit which retail's at a quater of the price of the veilside!!!
fibreglass which is stupidley cheap and moulds of fibreglasss cost peanuts
arn't they making a huge mark-up compared to other copy kits???
No because they were the first to produce them and they spent $$$$$$ developing, designing, making sure it fits perfectley etc... and they have to recoup that cost which reflects in the price of the retail kit
whereas copy company just buy a kit where all the work has allready been done
and take a mould of it and pour in some cheap fibreglass and voila.. they have a the same kit at a fraction of the cost...

Comprende people....

maybe now you understand a little about the price of these lights.... smile.gif

like i posted on celica net
they come in shiny black special plastic which is specially made to take paint so no primer needed and easy to paint or you can just leave as they are smile.gif
but i chose to get mine colour coded
as far as shipping and cost goes e-mail dave on the QC website
though he did say he would do a group discount if there were a few orders
and would only charge one lot of shipping for everyone wink.gif

this is the e-mail i got from Dave this morning:

"We have a grand total of 2 deposits so far. We need atleast 15 to cover the cost of tool making not to mention the the work we do at Coney park. That's before we start to see a penny profit for our efforts.

We're not getting much feed back on the kit either.

If there are no signs of hope soon, we may have to just cut our loses and abort before we get too far into debt."

Come on guys whats going on we cant let this oppertunity slip through our fingers these have to be made its something that should be available to all gen 6 owners allways !
we need to get at least another 12 deposits down

come on folks it's either now or well never get another chance again to get these done

it's only a £20 deposit!!
thats beer money

if anyone is thinking of getting these please put a deposit down now to ensure that they are definetley finished

not at all they totally complement the the rear and they curve and blend in 100% with the bodywork
as the curves are base on the exact originals i fail to see how they spoil them...

but each to their own..

Reflectors are supplied with the kit for mot time

you can also choose which lense colour you want either all clear/red or orange or a combination of all three whatever it's your choice

and i said they are an easy straight swap

as far as price goes im sure if you discuss it with Dave bossman at QC he wil be able to sort something out if a few of you wanna get them in the states
and you would only pay one lot of shipping to e-mail him on qconvers@aol.com
or via the website.

yes they aint cheap but quality never is these are not crappy fibreglass but top quality straight swap for the originals
just think you will have a totally unique, different and cool mod which i doubt you will see many of these are the first aftermarket lights available for the gen6 in the world

After having been to see Dave today at QC HQ to view the finished fronts
and to drop off my car for pics and the back to be developed

I can honestley say these kits look amazing, really suit the car, and the the quality of the workmanship is top notch

The fronts are now complete and all that is left to do is to develop the back of the lights to replicate the originals
this will be done over the next few weeks and the the full finished kit should be ready for retail in Nov

these kits are exact replicas of the originals and are computer laser cut to fit perfectley they are a straight swap just a simple case of unbolting the originals and replaing with the new ones
the kit will come in a black finish
but it is specialy made to take two pack paint so its easy and cheap to colour code
they dont even need any primer or elasticiser just simply a few coats either with a spray can or spray gun of your chosen colour ( easy Diy job )

they will also be available with various lense and bulb colours

the will retail at £280

i will shortley be posting a link to a page with pics of the actual kit on my car from various angles and with various different lense options
there will also be a link on it to a secure webpage for deposit payable direct to QC either via switch/credit card/cheque etc

we now require all those interested people to place a small deposit of £20 for their kit
via the secure link

this will ensure a that QC can have a set number of definete orders to start making kits up for and to show that we are commited and that they have not just invested thousands for nothing

also if we can get a minimum of 20 deposits i wil be able to organise a celica club group discount for the first batch of kits sent out to members (celica-club.co.uk) only. please feel free to start a group buy for your club if you like.

Here it is folks:

http://www.quadconversions.com/Celica/celi...urner_forum.htm

Also Check out their website:

www.quadconversions.com

please note that the colour has been photoshopped so is not exact
also light unit have just been placed their not bolted in so are not tight bolted to the body
so hang a bit out

Remeber their are all sorts of differnent options available
and the kits look even better on the car in real life and will be even better fully colour coded

BTW it's only a £20 deposit!!

Cheers

The whole point of having a celi club about modding and improving your cars, is to do exactly that, to make your celica unique to everyone else's by making it look better, drive faster, handle better, etc.. if your just going to leave your car standard then dont bother joining a club and be like millions of others who just drive their normal motors day to day blending in with everyone else.
otherwise join a club, mod your car and support other people (like myself) who are trying to get companys to make more unique mods for our gen6 dont just say urrgh dont like that spoiler etc ... "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" so if you think it looks good then go for it dont be a sheep like everyone else.... bah.. bahh..
personally i think my gen6 looks really good with a smooth clean look which is higly modded but does not look to over the top or tacky, cause i want a unique car i have done this and am proud of it.
so go on be different ...

BTW rice.... ehhhh... most people eat it - speak english please.

and by the way everyone it's a bad photoshop job but the real ones wil look really good and he's also going to do a three light style and post a pic on the link when its ready i'll let you guys know when it's ready.
also you should all be supporting this effort there arn't any parts for the gen6 so any effort to get something different made should be supported

how can you guys say they dont look good when most of your cars have hardley been modded and are almost standard
