Never thought it would translate into a softtop so well. The plot thickens ...

He's lucky that's all that happened. Am I the only one who has a "don't mess with strangers they just may pull a knife/gun on you" mentality?

/\ I've heard about that book before, but I actually got my info from home market brochures I have collected thru the years. After reading that preview page, there is at least one I missed, the 97 SS-I white edition, which I've never seen or heard of before. Thanks for the link!

I've been searching the net for a while trying to find some of the SS models, and finally found a 25th anniversary model:
SS-III 25th anniversary edition ( This one has the optional accessory front lip )

You can notice the momo wheel in this pic, as well as the orange needles for the gauges (at night the numerals are also lit in orange).

Does anyone know of any other JDM special editions that aren't in this list?

1.) 94 GT-Four WRC edition (anti lag pieces, etc.)

2.) 94 SS-I special edition (special green paint, 6-speaker stereo, etc.)

3.) 96 25th anniversary SS-III (momo wheel, orange gauge lights, etc.)

4.) 96 SS-I special edition (special blue paint, embroidered seats, etc.)

My guess is any reasonable legal team will have to gather all the evidence of illegal activity to solidify the case against said moron, regardless if it involves their priorities. If they can prove that her behavior is habitually criminal it adds lots of negative weight- trust me, it's inevitable . . .

And now for the update: After one really crappy apology last week, we get another blatant example of how Judith Griggs just doesn’t get it (and probably never will). . . Click on the link for a summary of her second not-an-apology and news that Cooks Source is getting flushed down the toilet:

They have a supposedly official car and track list over at Jalopnik. That car list, in particular, is very underwhelming. I feel like all my enthusiasm for this game just got flushed down the toilet. . .

GTPlanet forums are full of people like this. It makes me laugh. Sure, more premiums and less cars overall would probably be better, but there are over 1000 cars, but still not enough for some people kindasad.gif

For someone who doesn't already own a PS3, discovering that the 1000+ car list has been made by basically taking the same car and including different market-specific names of the vehicle to over-inflate the list is definitely a valid concern for pause. Because the game includes all three market specific names of the "miata" for the same model year isn't going to make me any more likely to spend $400+ for the PS3 console, HDMI cables, and the game itself when I have zero interest or real use in any of the other games or features PS3 brings to the table.

QUOTE (manphibian @ Nov 13, 2010 - 5:01 AM) *
It does show how the development has overrun, as there are not that many cars from after 2007....

And this is why Sony has rubbed me the wrong way- making me wait till the end of 2010 after hyping huge numbers of cars to discover that, after convincing myself I'd totally buy a PS3 just to get GT5, I’d be better off just saying "no" and keep playing GT4 instead.

I found this insane story on a social media site after having some free time on my hands this morning, and just could not resist sharing this mind-boggling situation involving plagiarism, copyright, and nearly certain legal action. It's a longer read, but well worth it in my opinion!

A woman by the name of Monica Gaudio originally wrote and copyrighted an article revolving around apple pie including elements of its history that ran in an online publication back in 2005. 5 years pass and a friend of Monica's alerts her that her story appeared in a recent edition of Cooks Source, a small magazine publication that circulates in western New England. After seeing the article from Cooks Source, Monica determined that they'd basically stripped her story right off the website that originally ran it and stuck it in their magazine. Monica decides to e-mail the publication's editor, Judith Griggs, to ask how they obtained the article, and to request an apology and a $130 donation to the Columbia Journalism School (approximately 10 cents per word ripped from the original). The following is just a portion of the e-mail Judith sends back to Monica:

"Yes Monica, I have been doing this for 3 decades, having been an editor at The Voice, Housitonic Home and Connecticut Woman Magazine. I do know about copyright laws. It was "my bad" indeed, and, as the magazine is put together in long sessions, tired eyes and minds somethings forget to do these things. But honestly Monica, the web is considered "public domain" and you should be happy we just didn't "lift" your whole article and put someone else's name on it! It happens a lot, clearly more than you are aware of, especially on college campuses, and the workplace. If you took offence and are unhappy, I am sorry, but you as a professional should know that the article we used written by you was in very bad need of editing, and is much better now than was originally. Now it will work well for your portfolio. For that reason, I have a bit of a difficult time with your requests for monetary gain, albeit for such a fine (and very wealthy!) institution. We put some time into rewrites, you should compensate me! I never charge young writers for advice or rewriting poorly written pieces, and have many who write for me... ALWAYS for free!" (On a side note, the original article did not need editing; it contained medieval spellings of words from old-time recipes)

This response obviously PISSED Monica OFF! She blogged about it, and word of what went down started to spread like wildfire. Next thing you know, thousands of also irritated people start going ape on Cooks Source's Facebook page, leading to a possible hacking and ensuing mayhem. Blogging sites pick up on this, and some savvy people (presumably journalists) come up with two clever ideas that put Cooks Source in some seriously hot water.

For one, people start sending in complaints to the advertisers that pay to be in Cooks Source in an attempt to dry up their funding. But it's the other trick up their sleeve that really makes the ish hit the fan. Sensing that this probably wasn't the first time Judith outright stole other people's work on account of her outrageous e-mail response, someone brilliant takes the time to find some other plagiarized stories from the Cooks Source website and then creates a separate Facebook account displaying hyperlinks to these Cooks Source stories, along with links to the original ripped off articles from various sources!

Other people then join in to add to the list, which grows considerably. Shockingly, not all the plagiarized material came from never-heard-of before sources. Some of the more recognizable owners of the original material include Paula Dean, Food Network, NPR, Martha Stewart, and probably most surprising of all, Disney (if there ever was a company known to not tolerate copyright infringement, it would be Disney).

As many have already assumed, Judith's days as a journalist must surely be numbered, and the same must be said of New England's Cooks Source. In all seriousness, how can a magazine editor be SO STUPID?

Nice cars. Came close to getting a 93 SE V6 manual 4-door after my Accord got totaled, but decided against it after the insurance numbers came in- really high on that car for some odd reason. . .

There are so many different rumors surrounding this vehicle it is hard to keep up, but current talk of the FT being sold as a Scion FR-S (at around $25,000) seems to make the most logical sense, if you think about it. . .

After the recall hysteria surrounding Toyota, is it really all that likely Toyota will try to restore its image by marketing a performance coupe? My bet is Toyota will stay focused on its green image and the Prius "brand". Also, at the moment, Scion is the division that needs new products that will sell and draw excitement, not Toyota. I'm sure Toyota realizes that there likely are quite a few current Scion owners who would want to upgrade into a $25,000 FR-S from that that $19,000 TC they bought in their 20's, if such a car existed.

Everybody seems to forget how bad project genesis turned out for Toyota- The Echo, 7th gen Celica, and MR-Spyder were all marketed as youth-oriented vehicles, but struggled to find buyers under the Toyota banner. The next stab at selling products to younger buyers was Scion- which until only recently, has been a fairly positive sucess story for Toyota.

I’ve never tinkered with a non-airbag wheel, unfortunately. . . sorry I can't be of more help kindasad.gif

With that said, I don't recognize your wheel as a 6gc part- I don't think any of the non-airbag wheels over the years on jdm 6gc's were perforated-leather wrapped? From a late model Carina ED or Corona Exiv, maybe?

I'm at work today for the most part, but I can do some research once I’m home and possibly give you better info as soon as tomorrow

What specific wheel are you referring to- The non-airbag wheel, SS-III wheel, etc. ? I may be able to help but there are 5+ "jdm" wheels I can think of off the top of my head

I've got a book at home called Rally Cars that has this picture in it, but I've never seen it online until recently. Admittedly, the picture in the book is much lager, but I still think it's a pretty neat pic nonetheless-

This photo was taken at TTE's headquarters in Cologne, Germany during development of the Celica Twin Cam Turbo aka "the whistling pig".

Extensive endurance testing was performed during the development of the race-spec 3T-GTE in order for it to stay competitive during select endurance rallies in the Group B era (the whistling pig was one of the last RWD cars in a time when AWD was nearly universally used). The testing paid off, as the car's most notable success was a hat-trick of Safari wins from 1984 to 1986. If it wasn't for the racing success of the whistling pig, Toyota would have never bothered with creating the GT-Four wink.gif

I think I have this post system figured out. I need to post so many posts per day to reach so many bars.

I remember someone else from this site asking about the "bars" way back when- If my memory serves me correctly, you earn more "bars" the more posts you make/respond to, but not posts/replies in the off topic or website discussion categories.

My sister's good friend drove around a stripped out 1991 red miata for her first car. The rear window eventually went opaque and the top leaked now and then, so she had the top replaced last summer. It set her back almost $800, so I’d recommend finding one with a top in really good condition.

This one in your area seems like it could be a good buy:
Red 91

Some things I know about the NA series cars:

The 89-93 NA's have the 1.6, and the 94 and up NA's have the 1.8 (with an extra 18-20HP)

Factory LSD was viscous type pre 96, and 96 on cars carry a Torsen LSD setup (more reliable)

R cars have standard Bilstein shocks and no power steering

94 and newer cars have strengthened chassis braces for better side impact protection.

The best looking Miata ever- the 1996 M coupe concept. Such a shame they didn't put this one into production.

Zenki AE86 Corolla Levin GT-Apex models had a similar grill setup.

The center piece would not rotate open until the car reached a certain operating temp to help improve drag.

The setup was linked to the radiator, as shown by the right hand side of the diagram below:

Not bad for 1983 wink.gif
