This thing will prob be a piece of junk just like the tiburon. You could get a 350Z for a little bit more. Or if you want to Stay Toyota, get an IS350. Scion needs to get some balls.

Hey my car just recently started doing this: Its an automatic and when i start it up in park i usually let it sit for about five minutes to let the engine warm up. At first my rpms are at 1500 then they go to 1000 then i shift into reverse and then drive and im off. Now it sits at 16-1700 but still goes down to 1000, then i shift and the car jolts back or foreward. Also whenever the car acts this way, when i sit at a light it sits at 500rpm not my 800-1000 like normal. What is wrong with it? I just got the trans fluid replaced 4 months ago. I know my old honda jerked around if it wasnt warmed up but thats because it was at like 2500rpm, not in this case.

I got a leak coming from the rack & pinion area. Ive got replacement PS fluid and added some STP leak in it. Planning to put about 1000 mi on her. Good idea? i cant afford to repair it. Anybody think id be ok to drive on freeway for 8 hrs? It loses about a cup of PS every few days of traffic driving.

I thought it would be a good idea if this web site was expanded to include other gens. You could have an extra forum covering the 7gc's and the other gens. This web site is so much better than those other ones that cover the other gens.

I just sold mine to a girl who is in love with it. I had an equal amount of girls and guys calling about it. Hopefully she gets a profile on here soon.

I am selling my main car on here. Selling only to someone who lives near or can pick up here (Tampa). I'm not driving. It has just had a new alternator installed by toyota dealership. New oil change and new transmission flush. The car can be sold with rims or with stock alloys or both. Car can also be sold with JDM tails or with stock or with both. I will not get back with anybody asking for sale of parts until the car is gone. Here are the specs:

169000 miles
Automatic trans
ram air intake
brand new everlast maxx battery w/ 3 yr warranty (receipt)
battery located in the trunk
17" white rims, tires are prob 60% worn
Nopi muffler w/ silencer
red dash lights
power antenna works half the time
supra type spoiler
1.8L limited edition
Liftback (shocks work well)
front brake pads & back drums are worn
Power locks, windows
original stereo/CD works well
euro turn and marker lights

used to have a turbo setup on it. did not have an oil restrictor and oil pressure made crank case leak. Still leaks. I have the oil changed every 3500mi. only thing i had to replace was the alternator on the car for the 3.2 years and 65k miles ive put on it. Those 65k are mainly highway miles from GA to FL. BTW: the front "celica" plate on the bumper in the pic will not be included as it is on my other celica.
*added sway bars
I will be looking for a low miles late/mid 90's four door civic, corolla or camry to replace this car.

Asking 3000 for everything or
2800 excluding the extra set of rims or the JDM tails
2600 excluding both

PM me for serious buyers.
I am also listed on autotrader.com where more pics are located.

It is fixed, all is well. Toyota dealership said it needed new alternator and said that the Midas place didnt do a thourough enough check. They said it would cost over $440. I instead got my own new alternator and had them install it for me which came to $265 total.

Ok I had a similar problem in my 4runner. It sat for about 1 1/2 weeks and I guess I left a light on inside or something cause when I went to start it, no go. I got a jump, drove awhile letting the alt recharge the batt. Well had to get a jump again, so I drove for like an hour and it started for the rest of the night. Went to start in the morning and it barley turned over. Went to auto store and had it checked, they said it was a little drained but the batt was still good. drove around all day and it never seemed to charge up. Always had a problem starting. So time for a new batt, I went a new red top Optima. Put it in and it didn't start! The guy at auto store jumped it and said it may have sat on the shelf too long. It was the only one they had and it was late so I kept it. Next morning truck doesn't start, get a jump, go to another location and do an exchange. Turns out it was a defective batt. New one in and it is perfect. Truck seems to run smother too.

So I'm not sure if this helps but get your batt tested to see if it's holding a charge and go from there.

The batt was tested and holds factory charge. No lights/devices were left on either.

QUOTE(Enrique @ Nov 18, 2006 - 1:15 AM)

Make sure you dont set the batt on the ground for to long.......your batt will ground out and have problems keping a charge....Had same problem with two red tops.....

never heard of that. the electricity cant pass through the plastic so i dont think it would ground out unless the terminals were touching the ground. If that the case then they couldnt sit the batts in the stores cuz it would be grounded, especially in those metal shelves.

im gonna take it to the dealership today

Didnt mod anything for this $hit to start happening. I was doing my weekly drive out of state on i75 and my lights dim and my cd player goes dead, everything dying. I pull the car off to gas station and car dies after all lights go out (this is at night). I figure its the alternator and figure it drained my batt. I go across the street (thank God for walmarts) at 2am and buy the best batt they got. put that in and drive home. Take it to a Midas shop and they check system and tell me alternator is fine and my batt was old so it took a dump. im like ok cool. same thing happens 2 weeks later, WTF? Another batt dead. This time i got it recharged but havent hooked it up yet. The celi is sitting around without power. Whats wrong with the car? (Also to note i took the car to a jiffy lube before the disaster and saw the guy spray my engine) could that have shorted something out? Even so the shop (Midas) said my alt and elec system were fine. The alternator was replaced two years ago so its fairly new. Any ideas?

OK i found This discussion but I dont think thats the problem. Anything besides this?

Why do you want a 96-99? is there any difference? I'd keep the GT. I like the silver color better.

Ok here's something....A FACT! A new ford mustang has 65% of parts that come from US and Canada, A new Toyota sienna has 90% of parts from same region. Whats more American Now?

E85 is garbage, less mileage when you use it. Why not refine to electric cars? electricity is most vast and easy to get. And I got to thinking... what if we relied on that E85 and then there was a drought or famin, insect thing? That would be setup for disaster.

Are you gonna upgrade your front and rear lamps to the post-facelift ones?

I'll buy black colored headlights. I'm putting silverstars in it like i have on my 6th gen. i'll have LED lights in my tails. I'll also use nightshades.

i heard they lowered it to reduce emissions and because ALOT of people who were new to a high revving manual were damaging the engines under warranty, things like missing a shift and bending valves or throwing a rod.

Thats exactly true. I spend some time on Newcelica and you hear stuff like that pretty often.

I've been real easy on it since i'm not used to driving the thing. I've had a few 7th gen GT's try and race me, and then a RSX-s & s2000 tonight. Ditched the first GT and then didn't mess with the others. Mostly becuz the there were plenty cops out and I knew the RSX-s & s2000 would take me. I noticed a lot of ppl on newcelica were pretty hard on the cars.

Please get the optional hood scoop....it looks sooo much better .. imo anyway smile.gif

I noticed that the hood scoop on mine was hollow so air could pass through (didnt know that). You talking about the add on to make the scoop bigger? I'd prolly just get a carbon fiber custom hood before i'd mess with that.

tell them to give you $50 for the tail light and 300 for the body work to fix panel. put the $50 towards JDM tails and get the minor body work done and take the spoiler off and have them seal the holes while theyre at it. It would look sweet afterwards. Then you can sell the spoiler on here. I had minor body work done like that for about 300. Can never tell it got backed into. It was a very small hit like yours.
