I havent been on these boards much since I got the Evo, So im clearing out the celica items I have on hand. All items are Free for local pick-up or shipping plus $15 for anywhere else (the $15 is because im lazy and will pay Fed-ex to package the item for me)

Stock Springs (photos upon request)
These come off a '97 celcia GT convertible. Have about 70k on them. Will waive the extra $15 since i have an old tein box for these.

Modified Strut bar - Hold for terqui
This is a corrola front strut bar with re-drilled holes to fit the celica.

Will give local pick-ups priority in sale. Else whoever Paypals me the cost first takes it. PM me or post for inquires.

Edit: Updated to put the splitters and pads on hold for the quick PM.

Edit 2: i have had some interest in the strut bar. Ill post pics later tonight and then ill go down the line of who PMd me first to see if you want it.

Edit 3: Splitters and TRD seat belt pads are gone

Hi everyone. I have been a member here since the very beginning from our split from celica.net. I have had the pleasure to meet many of you during my long tenure here. This community made me love the car even more than i already did. But last week, i traded her in. It was a sad day. I have had her for ten long years. She was my first car when i was 16 and i have driven her 4 time across this country from chicago to new york, to LA, to Seattle, to Atlanta and all the points in between. But it was finally time for me and the car i called 'Red' to part ways. For me to continue me story with another car, and for her to continue to bring joy to a new owner. Below are some of my favorite pictures of my '97 celica GT convertible, followed by my new car.

Do you happen to have the center dash interior piece? Its the plastic piece goes around the stereo, Climate controls, clock, and has the top vents attached.

Thanks

The reviews so far have varied from mag to mag, but the over all is that it is heavier, slower in the 1/4, but faster around the track. Ill go with faster around the track please!! :-)

If you were going straight from HS to college, then maybe. But depending on your grades, SATs, extra circulars it might not matter. All that you do in HS is only to get into college. If you think you have what it takes to get into U of Texas already then it wont matter. If you were applying to Yale or MIT, then you would need it.

Then again, you are planning on going to CC for 2 years first. Because of this, the university will consider it a transfer and then place more scrutiny on your performance there than anything else. In this case, a DAP in HS wont matter too much if you crap out and get a 1.0 GPA in CC.

Ive had pretty good results at Target, but i havent printed any photos larger than 5x7. They are as sharp as the resolution you took them at, and once they are in a frame, i cant tell the digital ones from the film ones.

You should also know that because of this, the passport department is backed up. It may take up to three months to get a passport. Many people have had to delay/cancel their trips because their passport has not come in time.

With the same caveat, i do not intend to be in anyway rude or negative to you. I applaud your desire to get back into college and would like to help you in any way that i can, so please take my comments in the spirit they are intended.

i sort of agree with CF, the entire letter was difficult to read. I often times had to re-read the paragraph to understand your point. I would first get rid of the entire first paragraph and start with the idea of the second.

I understand you are trying to appeal to their emotions, but instead i get the sense in the second and third paragraph that you are only making excuses. Instead of listing why you were too busy for school, in one SHORT sentence own up to your mistakes and appeal to the idea of reformation and the second chance.

Finally, remove all the absolute adjectives from your last paragraph. In this context where you are appealing to their emotions, using words like 'guarantee' and '100%' can appear harsh and un-genuine. I know you are genuine in re-entering college and the words in your letter, but this letter is all about impressions. Instead, use a tone that implies that you know your own faults and will be doing your best to overcome them. Try:

"With fewer distractions in my life, I can now concentrate further on my education. I want to be reinstated at Saint College and finish my degree. Making models has been my dream and this is the way for me to realize that. If I come back I will make education a priority, as i now understand it is the road to success."

Transformers was fantastic!

My only problem is after the movie, i heard some HS punk say... "I liked it, but i wish that Optimus Prime guy was a cooler car, like a Skyline or something." I wanted to kick that kid in the neck!

As for the 08 supra. IT IS VERIFIED to come out 3rd or 4th quarter in 08. And I'm freaking getting it. Check it out:

http://www.2008toyotasupra.net/stills/2008...preview-big.jpg

Again, dont hold your breathe for that car. That picture is just a rendering for an article that came out early in '06, i dont believe an actual car like that ever been displayed at any auto show. Also, according to that same site, they are pegging the FT-HS from the Detroit auto show as a hybrid supra possibly for '09. But that is more speculation and rumor. If you have read otherwise that the supra is coming out end of '08, please correct me.

Oh, and my answer to the question is Evo X. In fact, im saving for one right now, hopefully mine in feb-march '08.

i got to drive an 08 evo. really nice car actually... its really fast but you don't really feel the speed. it has a ton of luxury features too. but mitsubishi is not really my brand of choice. i wish that toyota would manufacture a sports car... but i digress, for it shall be far too long before they do.

When did you get to crive the 08 Evo!?!?! Mitsu has been really tight lipped about the new Evo, only releasing final produciton photos last month. Did you ride in the test mule they have running around So Cal?? Canyou give us any more detail???

there isnt much known about the new Evo. What we do know is that the Evo will be the same dimensions as the new Lancer, but 3 inches wider. It will have the new 4b11t aluminum block, open deck engine with MIVEC which has an 86mm by 86mm bore. Some speculate this means the 4b11 will need less boost to produce more power by using a much higher reving engine. Power numbers in all trade magazines are in the range of 300-320 hp. The turbo will be near the firewall, improving heat isolation and flow. The new Evo will have SAWC with AYC (active yaw control) for the first time in the US. Specluation on weight seems to be 3200 to 3500 lbs. Price speculation is around $35,000 to $40,000. Mitsu expect to debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in October so as not to be overshadowed byt the GTR during the Tokyo Auto Show. I think we have all seen the production photos, if not:

edit: I forgot to mention, The new Evo will be offered with a 5 speed manual or a dual clutch paddle shift manual similar to the VWs DSG.

4/5, Looks like no one knows the roundabout question. I pass one everyday and go all the way around because people going straight just fly through without even slowing down. They go so fast, that you dont even see them until you are going through the roundabout. Id rather them hit me on the rear side than head-on.

orvillescelica - discourage. So here is a question for u, Was it worth it? did the end satisfy the means for u?

It all depends on what day you talk to me. I sort of went through the same thign my junior year of college, questioning if i made the right choice. Thankfully i earned an internship at the Air Force Research Lab that summer and that really drove me to excel my senior year and apply to grad school.

Engineering is a thankless job. Being an engineer, you are a builder of society. It is not the politicians, lawyers or businessmen that move society forward, but our ability to create and invent that moves society from one age to another. Despite this, engineers will never make the amount of money nor gain the recognition that other proffessions do. You will work hard and do great things, but no one will care and you will not be paid an equal amount for your effort. My motto is, if i am doing my job right, most people wont know that im doing anything at all.

So is it worth it? Absoluetly! with engineering you have to step back out of the grind every now and then and look at what youa re doing. Currently im helping design these engines where the next time they fire, they will be helping land a rover the size of a mini cooper on Mars. It will test soil samples where there might have been water. And if they find any remains of a single cell organism, we can show that life is a spontaneous process wherever there is water. Thats world changing stuff!! As an engineer, everything you do could literaly change the world. Knowing that and seeing that makes it worth it. And so now the question is, If you knew for a FACT that you could help change the world in your own way, how hard would you try to make that happen?

QUOTE(97lestyousay @ Jun 5, 2007 - 5:04 PM)

Bit of info which almost all the grad students I have worked with overlook.
Know your fits.( slip, press and tolerances to make them correct)
I see it almost everyday, mating parts drawn the same size + or - .005
Fit on a computer is not the same as real world.
Bosses and holes the same size don't mate.(without a hammer wink.gif )

This is good advice that i learned in grad school. If you want to make a part, draft it up, then go and talk to the machinist and ask his advice about the tolerances. Talk to him/her about what you are looking for and theyll help out to make it just right.

Anyway, about the subject on hand. I dont know if this is going to help you or discourage you, but ill go ahead and tell my side of engineering anyway. Engineering IS math. Thats the short of it. I was never too great in math class either, but applying that math to the engineering concepts came a lot more natural to me. Maybe its the same way for you. By your senior year of engineering you should figure that out if you havent already. Next, having been out of school and working for a year, i can tell you that being a working real world engineer has made me work harder than i ever have in school, made me feel dumber than i ever have and more incompetent than ever before. And i was in grad school where at least one day a week i would go to class in the morning and then work in the lab until midnight, most of the times not eating all day. Real world engineering and college engineering do require a lot of work. It requires you to try hard, harder than you should for results that may not be important, but you need to do it, simply because it needs to be done. You say that Friends are more important than 35 problems, i agree. But there is a balance between those two that you can find, trust me. If you set aside your friends for one or two nights for those problems, they will understand and be there when youre done. If you set aside those problems for your friends, the college might not be as forgiving and the degree youve put so many hours into for already might never come. If you can, push through to graduation. Actually try hard, study, and see what you can really do. It doesnt matter if you dont even use your degree after college, as long as you prove to yourself that you could and that you did, youll know that you can do anything. If you just sort of coast through without giving it a real try, then youll always wonder what if and leave doubts for the future.
