was planning on driving over, don't have the celica anymore but you never forget your first love. guess ill wait till next year.

What do you have now?

I've been trying to get my friend from San Fran and his MR-2 to come out this way and Dragon with me one of these times. He'll probably fly out and ride down to Dragon in my car and I expect the following year he'll be thirsty for it in his own car.

gave up the celica to join the 350z Nissan challenge. so mainly stuck on track days at the moment. now that the GT4 celica is available for import i am in the process of getting one brought over legally to San Diego. just a long process.

first ask yourself this main question. what will the car be used for?

if the car will be used for looking good low to the ground and 10% of the time used for Auto X or any type of racing I say go with raceland USA coilovers. cheap. economical and it will give you the look you want to be lowered. but the key word here is CHEAP. so expect a bouncy ride and lower end decent handling the same goes with Megan Racing and God Speed there stuff is worst then Raceland USA and a little more pricey.
I loved my BC coilovers but was a little to much for the car. I felt like I could never put them to there full potential. this was a driver mod upgrade needed, not a BCcoilover issue.

if your more for auto crossing and some spirited driving. you cant go wrong with the proven tech of eibach/tien/hks springs and koni adjustable shocks. best combo along with a good tire. my favorite set up. ever!

any updates on this?

having a Celica ST I can honestly say springs and shocks from a convertible with sticky tires and a 6 puck unsprung clutch was very fun in the AUTO X world.

functionality - its easier to slip a tow hook on that area and drag it out instead of grabbing a shovel and trying to dig a small hole to find a tow hook on the rear or front of the car.

ever been to the track or the canyons and get stuck in really really deep sand that swallows your car and wont let you move? would you rather dig and find a tow hook underneath the car or hook up to the top and drag it out and disappear before the cops show up.

is it useful sure.

is it needed not really.

would you spend 120+ on one ... i would'nt.

2nd gen 3s motor with how many miles? your basically buying someone elses headache. for 450 its not a bad price but remeber that your going to be doing a lot of trouble shooting and installing. not to mention once you start to clean it up you may find more crap that the previouse owner ****ed up.

i dont mean to sound like a dick here but take it from personal experience on SC300 with 1jz and 2jz swaps. THEY ARE A ****ING MONEY PIT!!

if your complaining about the maintance one your celica be prepared on the maintance for a SC300 with a swap. not to mention if the guy did a ****ty job at swapping the motors your looking at wiring and other electrical crap to deal with. the 5spd diffs/trannys that came with the SC300 stock are pieces of **** and break way to easy under power/abuse.

also since you live in CA be prepared for smog. these cars will not pass smog unless its been thru the carb system which i highly doubt. so i hope you have a smog hookup that will look the other way.

2500-4000

used car with 178K miles wont sell for much. hate to break it to you. according to KBB.com the car will sell for a fair price of 3500. plus since its a used car the people buying it will fight to lower the price.

check your local newspaper under the classifieds. most repo/auctions are listed there.
