gee, people say alot of different **** on this site, the integrity of the content (posted by others) is questionable. Is there no knowledgable celi or mr2 owners on this board, for the love of god.

No knowledgable owners? You must be falling into that group as well. If you're impressed with the 6gc's stock suspension, your standards for handling up ricer-high

Compared to the stock 300z 85' and a beat 240sx 90-something', i guess anything will feel better

any how, rwd is better for drag if you're good. I love my celica, its just gonna be hard to give it up to an mr2 if that's what I decide.

i def. like the style of the 6gc better than any mr2 i've seen, but facts are facts, quarter mi. times don't lie regardless of what people say. I haven't seen a celica in any big sports mag in a long time. It seems to me the Z people know their ****.

It's really disappointing in the lack of after market support for the 6gc... even if I were to go through with the swap who is to say it will be better than an older car... If i wasn't so emotionally attached I'd get an older 300z and upgrade a few parts, run lower times for a third of the cost....

Well this is true, I love the 4cyl and the fact that its not nissan. The suspension is really great stock... I love my 97ST, I take it on back roads all the time zippin' through turns like its nothing... maybe that's all I am meant to do, but it would sure be nice to have some power under the hood.

from what i've read, the 3sgte swap is expensive... not only that, not many people have done this (especially in the north east... PA etc)... so I've been thinking about the alternatives, and if I buy an mr2 turbo (the entire car) and work on that, would that be the smarter investment? I know it has greater power potential than the 3sgte in quarter mi. time. what do you think?

im also concerned about emissions, so thats why a US mr2 sounds like a better option.

Custom axles... how much does that run? Sounds tricky too.

i basically plan on taking it to a shop to have the entire thing done right there, i figure ill save on costs this way, rather than taking it to multiple shops.

i plan on replacing upgrading the following:

suspension - coilovers, brakes, shoes and rotors, camber kit
tires and wheels - conni's extreme contact , rims not picked
engine - 7afe to 3s-gte ( front clip shipped to shop )

custom enclosure for 18" kicker sub and space for nos can
nos?? - its a possibility... but i think ill be happy with a swap for now

body kit and paint job ( frontend to look like gt4, possibily metallic green )
other minor details

---
i've already gotten tips on wheels.

need some advice from people who have done suspension (what brands aren't crap) etc...

need some advice on the engine... all i need is front clip or do i have to order more parts?

in the mean time, im gonna be researching this forum more and other sites.

i doubt i over powered the sub since the amp was made to power it (kicker impulse sub and amp)... it doesn't smell from outside the box.... the only thing i think it sound with it is when i tap on the cone it doesnt make a bass tone.. it just sounds like im hitting the surface.

i didn't open it up yet to see if the wires inside are correctly connected, but i will asap... all the wiring seems to be solidly connected outside the box.

the gain and bass settings were set up with the dial right in the middle.

fuses intact.

i'll have to get a screwdriver and unscrew the sub from the box too see what the hell is going on. I think its one of three things...

1) burned voice coil
2) loose wire inside the box
3) busted seal

I installed my 18" kicker impulse with matching amp (kick impulse amp)... I installed it correctly and it worked fine for a month... but just the other day, I was listening to it, it sounded fine... I turned off the car... and later that day, when I turned my car back on, the sub wouldn't work. No sound comes out of it unless I turn the volume WAY up and turn the sub volume on max. What happens then is it feels like there's not enough power and it sounds like ****... I've been reading and it might be a voice coil... but i dont think i blew the speaker entirely.

I checked the fuses, both of the metal resistors seem to be intact and all the connections seem to be solid.

I'm puzzled.

just finished audio system:

* 4 blaupunkt 692's all around with bass blockers in front
* 18" kicker impulse with the amp for it (kicker impulse amp)
* all this connected to my JVC head unit. plays mp3s too!
* sound-shielded trunk and mounted sub box with velcrow (works fine)

! still need to stop license plate from making noise, but overall im very pleased with the sound quality in any genre.

looking/researching tires and wheels, will have them by december.

if you have any ideas let me know biggrin.gif

btw dcgoalie, boondock saints, what a great quote !!!

I have some ****ty AR rims that came with my car when i bought it, so I just need 1 set for summer/spring.

as I said before I like these: http://www.tirerack.com/servlet/CallJsp?ta...cing&colorInd=6

and for tires im probablly gonna go with whatever racing wheel that got at sears... I think its sumoko HTZ or something like that. i think im going with 18" too.

i like 5 spoke and painted sliver something like that.

I have no clue whats a good brand of tire and/or wheel, what size works best with my celica 97 st, etc...

i have looked on tire rack and it says it can fit up to an 18", however, i doubt thats the 'best' fit... and what brand(s) of wheels should i be focusing on?

i've also read the tire and wheel bible, so I know the theories and basics behind tires/wheels, i just need some guidance with real-life experience and suggestions... preferibly if you've had/tried out a certain brand and under certain conditions...

i won't be using them in the winter, so its not a problem.

rain is tho, as im in PA, the state of rain... but, no matter what tire i have, i doubt i'd drive like an idiot..

help please.

Im gonna get forged pistons, rings, and rods and do an occational 100-shot. it will cost me around 1200 to do the whole thing... alot better than turbo for the $ if you ask me.

I was thinkin' about getting a better head gasket too, they make diff. types of metal for them, better than stock. If you have some input let me know about it.

Again, sorry for bumping my post... I'd like some more feedback from people who have used > 50 shot (75 or 100 on the 7AFE), and tell me what they suggest... I'm 90% sure im gonna get forged pistons, so if it works with stock internals, I know Ill be set with the setup im thinking of
