Its a Cometic Steel Gasket for a 5sfe. Im using this as the water passages line up better than the 3sgte one to the block. |

You pretty much have the same setup as me only im running a 5sgte. All your stuff will bolt to a 5sfe 2.2 ltr block and crank. However you will need new rods. Have a look at my 5sgte build time and see what you think, dont worrie about all the dramas i had its just the way my luck went during the build. Also have a look at GAS MOTORSPORT here in Sydney.... You can try FENSPORT know there shuff www.fensport.co.uk in England. They have some wicked 3sgte setups and are very helpful. |

update- NOW Well funny you should ask. I know its been a while (months in fact) but i have just got home from the seeing progress. My NEW crank is back. Its back from being Cryogenically treated with a few other little mods that im not saying much about at this time. I have also treated it to a new 5sfe block. I ordered a new gasket set today along with bearings steel head Gasket and a Gates Racing timing belt. New water pump also was ordered just for safety as i had boost in the water zone. Now all i have to do is pay for it all and put the bloody thing back together... I think thats about it for now. |

If you going to go to all the trouble of putting a 3s head on a 5s block just put on one from a 3sgte. Im sure there would be a diference but im not sure the specs. |

Got My head back late lastnight. Looks all nice and new now. The head has been drilled out to recieve the larger ARP head studs, new valve guides and just a general service. The rocker cover was also sand blasted and a new water fitting for the head was made with dash fittings for the turbo. |

Ive been away for a while so here is the update. After doing the DVD i have decided that the engine bay looked crap and needed to be sorted out. All the defects have been cleared and a nice new alloy airbox and new cooler piping have been made. Last week i took out the motor for a strip down and rebuild. Why i hear you say........why not. I have ordered new CP pistons as the ones in it are damaged from the oil line problem ages ago.... Changed the filler bottle for the Rad to a custom alloy one and now im just waiting on mods to the strut brace to be done. Pics soon..... |

The horn not working was my own fault as i never put it back onto the car after i fitted the intercooler. As for the washer nozzels.... well that was because i had now water in the washer bottle... Taking it to court would cost more than the report i need. Lagos your right in your thinking as i thought myself 'What automotive background would the officer have.?' He's there to uphold the law not tell me whats up with my car. Did i break the law..? (Apart from the .055) |

Well its been a while since i put up a post and like the normal posts i write... Bad News. (hehe) I was on my way home from the pub last friday night after driving the car for the first time in almost TWO WEEKS when i get pulled over for a 'Random Breath Test'. I handed over my licence and puffed into the bag. (Australian limit = .05) What did i blow..????? .055 Drink driving is something i would never do. The reason i was .055 was i JUST finnished my 3rd Beer in two and a half hours. I was made to stand by the side of the road for 15 mins and then made to blow again. Result = .047 (passed) During the 15 mins of hell waiting for the result the officer in charge of the RBT slowley looked at my car with interest. At this point i thought i was ok UNTILL he said "Can you open the hood" then he takes out his note pad and starts writing things down as he tells me what is wrong with my car. Result...... What can i say...??? 1. Dont drive just after you finnish your last beer or better still DONT DRINK NOTHING AT ALL. 2. If you make a mod on your car make sure it has the paperwork to go with it. 3. Find out what can be done to you car legally before you do it. Some of the things i have done to my car i can have with the right paperwork. I should have got it before this happened. Silly me. Now because i havent got the paperwork i have to notify the police every time i take the car to have work done on it untill i have the Engineres Report done. This means, what time im going to drive the car, where im driving to and approx how long it will take to get there. On the way home the same thing has to happen...... Take note of this as i hope it dont happen to you guys. |
