ok check it out i have a 97 corolla with the wonderful 7afe i have an auto w/ overdrive i am starting to collect parts to do a manual swap i found this ECU on ebay CLICK HERE TO SEE WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT it says in the description that it will work in a 94-95 celi im an guessing that the ecu will not work due to the fact the ecu is OBD-I and my car is OBD-II toyota changed over to OBD-II in 96 on the 7afe in the corolla's but im not sure if it was the same year for the celica's i guess it would work as far as the transmission is concerned but the rest of the car wolud probably be fuct BTW before any one asks why im getting an ECU for a tranny swap, the 4 spd auto w/ od is electronically controlled bythe ECU it wont work without the ecu from a manual car any help i greatly appreciated in advance later, JAY |

i painted my valve cover (7afe) and replaced the valve cover gasket then it started leaking oil you need to get the little gaskets that are around the studs (the four nuts that hold the cover on ) they look like washers w/ rubber on them they are like 30 cents a piece from toyota i replaced those w/ new ones and it was still leaking from the valve cover you know the bolt that holds the alternator wire cover i torqued the **** out of that one and now it doesnt leak ... easy fix lol but yeah make sure you get all the gaskets at once |

looks good but you should have taped off the oil cap hole and all the spark plug hole there are seals in each of them btw when you re install your valve cover make sure you get a new gasket and the little gaskets that go around the studs ( looks like a washer) i painted my valve cover a while ago and i never got the little gaskets and i was leaking oil from the vavle cover looks good peace , jay |

if your car has O/D then you may run into problems w/ the ecu if you want it to go smoothly i suggest using a ecu from a 5spd or a 3 spd auto the reason is the 4 speed auto(3speed w/ overdrive) is electronically controlled by the ecu |

well seeing that your car is a 95 (OBD I) and the engine is a 97 (OBD II) you may have ran into problems w/ the ECU if you are using your stock ecu from your car. have you tried to get rid of the CEL by resetting your ECU? have you checked all your vaccum lines to see if they are good? pull one off at a time and plug them w/ your finger to see what the engine does. also check to see if they are worn and cracked. are you puffing any smoke? the air temp sensor in the intake box may have gone bad, you may be running too rich or too lean. have you replaced your fuel filter? it may be clogged..... have you checked your timing? timing may be off if the dude didnt tighten down the distributor sounds like there is a fuel or air problem............................ good luck |
