QUOTE(twhite66 @ Jul 18, 2007 - 12:46 AM) id say tooo much! i bought mine with 90k miles for 3500 Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. It really depends on the area and how much they are going for in that area. Here in the Denver area, I rarely see 99's going for less than 9k |

Looks like you got a great car at a steal of a price. Congrats |

Koni makes a great strut. For the Celica though, all four are inserts. On the fronts, there is a nut you remove from the stock strut housing and pull the old insert out, put the new one in. The rears are a little more difficult though. You have to cut the top of the strut housing, pull the old insert and dump the oil out, then put the new insert in. It has a bolt on the bottom that you drill through the housing and bolt it to it, and you probably need to weld the top part of the strut housing back on. With the options available for the Celica, I'd say Koni is probably the best, just takes the most work to install |

Another tranny option could possibly be the 6-speed that is used in the JDM Altezza. It is RWD with a 3sge motor. Not sure if the bellhousing would be the same on the RWD motor and a FWD motor though. |

The automatic cars came equipped with a transmission oil cooler stock. This tranny cooler is built into the stock radiator. If you look at the bottom of your stock radiator, you will see two smaller lines coming off and heading towards the transmission. Those are the cooler lines. The only way to use the Koyo on an auto would be to get an aftermarket tranny cooler also. -Kaleb |

I'd suggest you take it to a Toyota dealer. Preferably the one that did the rebuild. A 4200 rpm rev limiter is not normal. "Also, there is a loud whineing noise when goin down tha road. Almost like I have huge nobby tires" Is it a whining noise or more of a rolling thud? Nobby tires wouldn't make a whining noise. If the axle pops when you turn, you more than likely have a bad cv joint. Check the boots around the cv's to see if they are torn. That would probably be where the axle grease is coming from. If it's torn, you need to replace it. hope that helps -Kaleb |
