QUOTE(bloodrain @ May 6, 2005 - 7:02 PM) i like sirius satelite radio, they also have howard stern comin soon ^_^ Why wait 9 months. Try Opie and Anthony for a couple months - you will find out Howard has lost his edge. I used to love him but now his bits are old and tired. XM is a much stronger company financially (Sirius had no idea how they are going to pay the 500 million to Stern starting next year). Football & hockey? Who cares - no one listens to football on the radio. |

QUOTE(Hanyo @ May 5, 2005 - 11:04 PM) Anyone have a system? I've heard you can get a reciever and not have to pay for a subscription? anyone know anymore about this? Some of the early model XM radios that hooked into Pioneer stereos could be cloned. It was a tough process but if you were good at sodering it could be done. I recommend you just spring for the $12 a month and get XM. Might seem silly paying for radio now but after a few months you will understand it's money well spent. Opie and Anthony XM202 is worth the $12 alone. |

Thanks I just convinced my girlfriend to order me the set for my b-day. I will try to find some of the tweeter triangles at the junk yard. Can't wait to install the speakers - the stock ones sound like ass!! |

I will get the speakers coming and see if they will fit. I will post the results. Thanks for your help. Think the tweeters will work in the small triangles under the mirrors? |

I have decided to go with the Alpine -R speakers in my 96 GT (4 speaker). Before I order these from etronics.com I want to be sure they will fit. I know I will need to make mounts for the fronts - but will the APN SPR176A (6 1/2 components) fit? They look pretty deep will there be room? I am planning on drilling one inch holes in the doors for the tweaters but if it's easier I would prefer using the factory location (triangle plastic below side mirrors). Anyone taken these plastic pieces off and drilled into them? Thanks! |

I have run the Hella 80W in my Cruiser and couldn't find them anymore so I switched to PIAA Super Whites which I really like. However, they are so expensive and seem to burn out within a year (don't know if it's the Cruiser) I switched to Silverstars. I like them and for $39 you can't go wrong. |

Optima is a brand of battery. It's made by Interstate - and is a gel cell type of sealed battery. There are a few different models: Red top - standard starting battery. Yellow top - Deep cycle battery (designed to be discharged & recharged) Orange top - same as red top except the terminals are reversed. |

Walmart carries a roll on rubberized undercoating. My bro did the inside of his 4runner cargo area with it - looked pretty good for a $20 job. |

Sounds to me from one of your posts that you didn't pull over right away. My best friend is a big city cop and while he would never give out such a pussy ticket - he would get pissed if he wasn't listened to (not pulling over). The search thing was probably boarderline legal - they would probably say the PC was that you were driving crazy so you could be drunk/high so they were looking for drugs. Although, I think they usually ask if they can search (you probably said sure) just so they don't have to defend the PC in court. |

Boosted - That's a good question. I have heard some RV batteries are better for cars that sit alot - but haven't tried one. My yellow top optima(deep cycle) battery failed while sitting on the shelf in my garage over the winter - no idea why. I think the best solution is to plug one of those trickle chargers onto the battery when you know it is going to sit for a long period. Goodluck |

This is my first post here, glad to finally connect and register My .02 on Optima batteries - As a offroad truck owner I have had 6 Optima batteries in my vehicles over the last several years. My two trucks currently have Optimas in them and my '96 Celica will have a red top in it as soon as I pick it up from the seller tonight..... However, I want to caution you on a few things I have learned about them. I currently have two dead red tops sitting on my garage floor. They are dead and I mean dead. Will not take a charge at all and they are less then 2 years old. I have also had a yellow top die on my after 2 summers. I have done some research and talked to the dealer I get them from and a bunch of other Cruiser owners about similar problems with Optimas. This is what I have found: They do not like to be run down to almost dead and then fast charged back up to a full charge. I use my winch alot in the summer at offroad events then jump in my truck and drive it down the road with the alternator pumping in 14amps etc. My dealer told me they need to be slowly recharged at 2amps or so. They don't do very well in a vehicle that sits alot of the time and rarely gets driven. One of my trucks sits most of the winter and the red top slowly drains until it won't start. Charge it up and it's decent but never like it was when it was new. Could have something to do with fast charging after it dies. Anyways, I could go on and on but just be careful how you use your battery. Don't run it down with your stereo and then jump on the freeway and do 80mph - you will wreck your $100+ battery.
