Hello..

Just curious if anyone here knows of a reputable shop or mechanic around NJ who would be able to perform a 3sgte swap. As always, any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks! smile.gif

Thanks for your quick responses. I'm actually in Manchester... right around Toms River.

jgreening - You've raised a very good point, and I've thought about this as well. Normally, would the transmission supplied with a rear clip be suitable for the swap, or do you think I'd have to source it elsewhere?

Also, do you think replacing the suspension, motor, and tranny sounds feasable with a $7500 budget?

Thanks again guys.

Hello everyone.

I'm the owner of a 1994 Celica GT, which currently has 190k on the odometer. I like my car very much, and I'm sure that I would enjoy it even more with a 3sgte under the hood. As of now, I have a budget that is a little shy of $7500.

Now, I realize that none of you ladies/gentlemen have actually seen the car, but my question is - in most cases, will the chassis be stable, and is it a good idea to perform this swap at this mileage?

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Runriot - thanks for the information. Yes, I have 3 speakers per door; mid-range, woofer, and tweeter. I'll have to check and see if I have an amp under my driver's seat. If so, what would be the best way to wire the woofers back up, and why would the harness from the amp in the dash turn them off in the first place?

Silver94 - Thank you for that link. I purchased a wiring harness adapter for 87+ toyotas, which plugged right into the clips from the external amp (as I said before). I'm curious, though - the head unit that I installed has an amp already built into it, which is powering all of the other speakers right now. I'm just looking for a way to get the woofers to run off of it, as well.

Thanks again in advance.

hey, i'm the owner of a 1994 celica gt with the premium stereo system. today i installed a new headunit, bypassing the stock amp and running the speakers off the amp in the headunit. getting the little blue connecter out from underneath the amp and removing the 2 clips wasn't the most enjoyable task, but hey - no pain, no gain. after wiring the harnesses together, i realized that the largest speakers on the doors (predominately for bass - at the bottom of the doors, i don't know the size off hand, sorry =/) aren't working. the mids, tweeters, and speakers in the back are working fine. i tried reconnecting all of the speaker wires again, just to make sure nothing was loose - but it appears that there isn't even wire in the harness for these speakers (nothing seemed to work). mad.gif

(also, the yellow memory wire from the vehicle's harness held no power under any circumstance, but this problem was solved by running a 12v wire with an inline fuse off of the battery.)

any help would be greatly appreciated.
