Sure, if you want to look at it from a purely monitary point of view blue book will place a celica at about 500-1000 dollars more than my mr2. But I don't place much stock in blue book value anyway. For instance, I used to have a wrangler and blue book placed it at being worth 2-3000 less than you could actually buy it anwhere. What is really important is the enjoyment you get out of a car. Having had both an MR2 and a Celica ( in a manual GT liftback) I can say that I would rather have the MR2, which by blue book is not as good. If I had enough money to buy another, bigger car and insure it I would b/c I don't really want to get rid of my MR2. I don't have enough money for that so I was looking for a solution where I could get a bigger car that I knew that I liked, without spending said money that I don't have. rolleyes.gif

Hey, thanks for the replies. Vissi, I was interested, but the reason I had the transmission rebuilt on the two was bad synchros. Not something I want to deal with again. I appreciate the offer, but I need something that isn't going to require a lot of work down the road. Also, dagreat1 thanks for the offer, but i'm not really interested in an st. Thanks

I have a '91 MR2 NA. It is black with 187,000 miles. It runs great and only has minor problems that would be expected of a car that age and milage. I have babied it, and had the transmission rebuilt about 16,000 miles ago. I have had this car for two years and absolutly love it, however, it has become painfully clear that I need a car with a decent size trunk. The MR2 is just not quite practical enough for me. I am curious if anyone would be interested in trading their celica for my MR2. I am only interested in a manual GT liftback. I have not posted any pics b/c I'm unsure if anyone is actually interested in auch a trade to begin with. Thank you.

If I still had my celica, I would like to try it myself.

There is some info on it. I suggest that anybody wanting to research it try mr2oc.com. It has been done on a car with a drivetrain very similar to the celica GT, and just because we don't know of anybody who has done it in a celica, dosen't mean that it shouldn't be listed where people can see that it is an option open to exploration.

It should be added to the feasable swaps list then. I would like to see it done by somebody.

I have spent some time on a mr2 forum and found that some of them are switching out their 5sfe for a 1mzfe. For those who don't know this is the v6 engine that has been in the camry. From what I've read, in an mr2 this swap can be done as cheaply or cheaper than a 3sgte. Weight difference is about the same between a 3sgte and 1mzfe, so bad balance isn't too much on an issue. This engine will have about 200 HP. And TRD makes a supercharger for it. It looks to me to be a pretty attractive idea for those who like the N/A powerband better than the turbo and don't like the lag. Mabey there is something I missed. Is there something thats makes this swap impossible for celicas?

Okay. How about July 29,30,31. We'll meet at like 10:00 AM on saturday. Give me time to think of a good meeting place. Right now I'm thinking Walmart. Should be easy enough to find. Our biggest problem now is that this has become somewhat of a dead thread. It's going to be difficult to get anyone to read this and commit to going. So, to anyone who reads this please let us know if you can go, and if you know of anyone who might want to go, please have them read this thread.

Looks like this isn't gonna happen. Next year it'll have to be planned by April or May.

Also, we need more interest. Right now it doesn't even seem worth bothering with.

Every weekend in the summer is packed up at the dragon. As much as I want to go there it is best to do it on a weekday. Besides we can't be sure of the weather. If its raining there is no way I'm going to Deals Gap.

Alot of people start going back to school in August, so the latest we could probably do this is July 15-17 or 22-24. I don't really have time to plan an event like this. I was just trying to step in and make sure something happend. If there is to be hotel reservations for everybody and a reserved place to meet, then someone is going to have to step up and help me out. Also, EVERYONE who would like to attend needs to reply by the end of this week to let know how many are coming and which weekend they con be here.

I was thinking like 10:00AM. I don't know where we would meet just yet. Redline racer knows the area better than I do. I was hoping he would have a suggestion.

Come on. Everybody let me know what you think. who else can go?

Obviously nobody wants to be in charge, so let me make a suggestion. Its too much trouble to get people to commit to going. Stuff happens, people drop, nothing wrong with that, but it makes it too hard for someone to reserve rooms, or a cabin. So, the simplest thing is for everyone to find their own lodging, or get together w/one or two other people, instead of one person trying to find lodging for everyone. There has been the most reaction to June 24-26, so lets say everyone drives up Friday 24 and finds a place to stay, and Sat morning we all just meet up at a predetermined place and time. Anyone more than say 30 min late gets left. The simplest way is usually the best. I can still make this date, is anyone else still interested?

Is the dragon 300+ curves? I thought it was 270 something.

Sorry, I'm a poor college student, and wouldn't be able to afford it until sometime during the summer.

I believe that the S54 was for the NA only. I have a mr2 NA with bad synchros, so I might be interested. Let me do some pricing.

I've had both a celi and an mr2. If all you want is performance then go for the mr2, but the celi is a nicer car as far as i'm concerned. If I had it to do over I think I would look for a MKIII Supra.

Try using redline mt-90 in the transmission. mr2's have problems with weak synchros and I know this stuff works wonders for them.
