Yes, you're right. IMHO all the car factories planted in Japan, and Korea like to use italian (spanish comes from latin :-) ) Daewoo : Lacetti, Toyota : Celica, Carina, Paseo , and so on. Thanks for your reply Giorgio |

Thanks for your contribution. Do you, or do your parents, remember the dragon painted on the steering wheel of that car they owned? Let me know, please. Have a nice day giorgio |

Hi Audiophile24, thank for your answer. I don't remember what was painted on the steering wheel of the Celica 2nd Generation, but may be it is true. BTW I've already known this story on the dragon and if its name is Cereeka indeed, [and the japaneses have some difficulties to pronounce the "r" which they say "L"] may be this is the possible explication of the celica meaning. Have a nice day Giorgio |

Hi, the correct way to write what you wrote is : Sei sicuro di avere 69 anni ? (are you sure you are 69 years old ? ) and the right answer in italian is " Si, sono sicuro di avere 69 anni poichè sono nato il quattro febbraio 1935. :-) that I translate into my bad english, this way : Yes I'm sure I'm 69 years old, since I was born on february the fourth 1935. Where did you learn you italian? that is comprehensible although not perfect. Giorgio |

Yes, you're right. That name doesn't really exist in Spanish or so. A member of an italian forum, who has married a spanish, already told me tha same thing. But the sound of the word Celica recalls an italian or spanish word, so we are thinking that Celic has spanish ( or Italian) roots. Thanks for your conribution. Have a nice day. I see You'are online at this moment. Giorgio |

Thanks a lot for your suggestion about the meaning of the word CELICA. Maybe this is the true version. In fact I already was in acquaintance that Celica was related to Spanish language with more or less the meaning you say. Thanks again. Have a nice day. Giorgio sorry for my bad English ! |

Hi Andason,Yes I am. Let me know, please, why my age is surprising you. ( in my previous post I wrote I'm curious, and I'm curious indeed) I read you're 19 and american . The two things are the best way to live happy and happy with your Celica! Regards giorgio ( don't forget to be good with my bad English.) |

Hi to all of you in this Forum! I am posting this question to resolve a little, little indeed, question I've in my mind since I bought my Celica GT 2.0 6th G. Does someone who is reading this post of mine, know where come the name CELICA from? Is it the name of a deity? Or the name of the Toyota CEO daughter ? or a fantasy name? or something else ? Thanks in advance for your replies. And, of course, sorry for my bad English. giorgio |
