Hey guys, It has been almost a year now since I have been without my celica. I thought I come back on here and update you guys on my car, and the status of my new ride. About 03/05 i got in a wreck with my 95 celica gt and i was on the verge of bein the first rippsmodd s/c celica too. But unfortunately my car was total and i couldnt find another celica in time for me so i purchased a 2002 civic hatchback si. In any case since that date to present I continue where i left off at my celica gt. I opt to find a company that was willing to make a kit for me using a centrifugal supercharger. As i wanted to be a poineer of being the first one to have a one of a kind kit (rippsmodd s/c kit). It took a whiles but i did find a company that made a kit using a centrifugal s/c. All thought it was intended to sale to the type r ( basically a civic si with a acura type s motor) in the uk. I purchased it anyways and fited it on my civic (if you guys are not aware of the differnt engine my stock motor is rated at 160hp and 140trq to the crank which is about 135whp 120trq). In any case after 11 months of modifying and changing thing this is the end results. I am currently making 266whp and 200trq, these are some picture of my engine set up, enjoy. |

... i have been a proud owner of a 95 celica gt for 1 1/2 years, on 03/24/05 on a left turn to the gas station, my dreams of my S/c celica was destroyed. I was sitting in my car, thinking to my self "****S". A female driver ran a stop sign and slamed into my rear passenger side, broke my axle/10 disc cd change/tail lights/rear bumper. my insurance would not fix it and they gave me a settlement. i moved on to a 2002 honda civic si hb. it is ironic because before i bought my celica i like the body so i took it, not knowing that the performance stock trim on the car was so weak compare to other out there. And now that i have my civic i just found out that it sucks more then the old b16, so i bought cuzz i like the body. So i moved to a non-existing aftermarket support to a weak aftermarket support platform. i research on my new car and found that the common idea is to swap the type-s motor into my civic, to get the best performance. But im not liking that idea its to common. SO here i say bye to my fellow Celica owners and toyota lovers moving on the the dark side with the civic hb. Note: i just purchase an 1985 toyota supra (LOVE TOYOTA) wish me luck in my ventures into the new civic, and trying to find out how to make the less gifited a3 to kill the type-s and old b16 etc. |

too bad you have a 97 if it was like 94-96 you can actually do a 3sgte engine swap as long as its not a jdm motor! i research this for like months ca rules are 1) newer motor (1 year diffrence you can get slide on) 2) engine must be coming from a car with simlar weight (3sgte or 3sge) 3) either us model or jdm replacement for same motor .. (only can do a jdm swap with a jdm 5sfe if your going jdm) 4) has to pass the sniffer it should if you register it as a mr2 motor but man its hard finding a 3sgte us motor with low milleage that be less then 3000.00 dollar.. |

my impression is that overdrive is automatic version of downshifting since its an automatic it shifts gears automattically but if your in a manual and you down shift you get the same results as using and overdrive button maybe im wrong but thats what happens when my uncle uses his od button on his 240 auto its accelerate faster and rpm jumps same thing like down shifting you accelerate faster .. just do use od when going like 60+ mph i dont think its a good idea especiall if its on a celica lolz |

3sgte is way harder then a 5sfe! plus 5sfe is cheaper to get get vs the 3sgte, but then agin if i had the money i would have went 3sgte.. i just recently swap a newer 5sfe into my car to replace my old one. not to difficult. |

HEY, i guess my search and research on the engine swaaping a 3sgte didnt go to waste after all. here are the cali 4 basic rule to engine swap. 1) must be a newer engine then the stock one (in your case at least a 94 3sgte) 2) no jdm motor replacement unless it is a direct replacement for the orignal stock motor (st motor 7afe). And if it is a jdm all egr system or whatever thing ma jig must be put on the jdm motor to make it smog legal (so the theory of you cant do its wrong you can. just dont know how havent research this much most peepo said they cant do it for you unless you have a head swap done us spec to jdm spec) 3)the engine must come from a similar weighted car.(thank good ness 3sgte are found in mr2 which are lighter but still meets standard) 4)i forgot the 4th one to make this simple and plain explaination you cant put a jdm 3sgte in the car and be legal unless you use us-spec stuff to replace all the necessary part to make it legal you have better luck find a us-spec and pay 3-5g for it and then do the swap your self or pay a shop 2-4g to swap it for you. but if your going jdm good luck in find a smog place who will only do the sniffer you wont past visual no matter what you do. if you plan on doing a 3sgte swap make sure it is us-spec you can locate one in New york they have a shop that offer low miles ones this is your only option on the 3sgte swap! or you can just build it as jdm and drive it illegally on the street i think you can do and be off road legal but not street legal.. another option is to put a 5sfe into that car and superchage it with the Rippsmodd supercharger (this my route im taking) Edit (Note: this supercharger will make your car as strong as a stock 3sgte KEYWORD STOCK) |

nope no grinding noise when im not moving! ? humm maybe its my tranny fluid good point Snarfer i remember when we swaps motors alot of tranny fluid was spilt. Maybe thats it i gotta do that soon. Im going to go to a shop to get it check out too. I think i may need to reset my ecu or get it tune because my dad did grind out my head before we put it on my new bottom block. |
