Hmmm. I think what has happened is they registered 1994 SSIIs that came into the country (NZ) in late 1993 as 93's. A bit odd they appear to be all SSIIs though! |

Hey, Has anyone got any information about the 6th gens produced in 1993? From looking around it appears they all have 3sge (making them SS-IIs) but I just want to be sure of this... i've found a cheap 1993 which i'm interested in which hopefully has a GE not an FE ![]() Thanks! |

Do you mean information immigration wise? If so, this site might help: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/ But if you meant general information about New Zealand all you really need is: The Lord of the Rings, All Blacks, Sheep, Kiwis, L&P, Pavlova, manic binge drinking culture, "skidz up in da carpark g", mainly average women, etc. Also, JDM cars are abundance, Celicas are mainly ST202 and 205's are surpisingly common ![]() |

What makes me want to change front ends is because I want to build something unique, whether it be with this car or one in the future. We in new zealand never got the Coupe celica and there's alot of Currens and SS1 Celicas around here, and few GT4s. So to stand out from the crowd it'd be cool having a mash up of the two. |

A couple of months ago a tree branch landed straight through my spoiler cracking it in near two ![]() ![]() I've also replaced a dash piece and the front LH quarter panel. Although this piece wasn't majorly damaged, it had an annoying dent and I found a straight panel at the wreckers one day. I'm looking at a few Celicas/Supras/MR2s around the place and am considering selling the Curren, so i'm a bit undecided as to what to do with the Curren next! |

QUOTE tried a multimeter to see if you were getting power to it/ where it stopped getting power? Yup, done all of that and found the fault to be in the 'female' plug the spoiler plugs into. Will definitely replace that plug when it comes to selling the curren, but for now I can live with the despoilered look. |

I have been trying for weeks to get the hi stop on my spoiler to work (need it for warrant) so after hours of mucking around I went to the wrecker and took an adhesive hi stop (those ones that are attached to the rear window) off a corona and got that working on my car in 5 minutes. sigh ![]() |

I'm running a 3S-FE in my Curren. I found that when I put 95 in it, it seems to drive alright but it felt a bit rougher when I went to turn it off, like it was 'running-on' a wee bit, when I reverted back 91 the car felt a bit smoother. That's just what it feels like in my car but it could well be different for you. |

Hey everyone, Since I got my 96 Curren last July my exhaust has played up twice. What's happened is that after I've come of the motorway (doing 100kmh around 3000 ish rpm in 5th I think) and drive through 50kmh areas my exhaust is unbelievably loud. It's like it's blown or something and if I stop, turn the car off, go away for an hour or so and come back, it'll be loud still. But what's weird is the next day it'll be back to it's normal quiet self. It looks like a fairly standard muffler. But given that there's extractors coming from the engine I think there may have been an aftermarket muffler on it once upon a time. I'm not exactly brilliant on car knowledge but what I think has happened is that a previous owner has put on the extractors and exhaust, but when he sold the car he took the muffler with him and put the standard one back on it. Could the standard muffler not be able to handle the higher flow the extractors put out, especially driving in higher speed areas? Cheers! |

Quidam, You haven't been driving around the Hutt in the new gt4 recently, have you? I swear I've seen that number plate on a gunmetal celica a few times in the past few months, but then again there a few of them around... If you're thinking about selling the red one I may be interested in taking it off your hands, if the price is right that is ![]() |

Sweet, tomorrow I'm gonna go talk to someone at VTNZ about my ideas on the celica conversion and about certification etc. If it's way out of my budget i'll scrap the idea but if not my next stop will be the wreckers to grab a radiator core support! Does anyone know if my Curren has mounting points for a regular celica crash bar? I was thinking if i use a normal one I could mount a normal celica bumper and bonnet if i absolutely need to get my car back on the road sooner. |

QUOTE That looks sweet minus the big wing Really? The rectangle thing at the bottom of the rear bumper looks really.. unnecessary. I prefer rear caps on the back ![]() I've never actually taken on such a big project to a car so where is the first place to start? is the radiator core support the first step or is is something else? |

QUOTE keep the curren front end! but you'd have to cut out your radiator core support (the metal bar your hood latch is bolted to) and weld in one from a GT4 you'd have to replace the fenders, hood, headlights, bumper, bumper crash bar, latch, ect. its more work than a normal celica. Ahhh. I thought there would be more to it than the crash bar thing the conversion article describes! Does the radiator core support HAVE to be a gt4 one? Celica parts are pretty easy to find here, not so much ST205 specific parts. It does seem like alot of work, but ill see if I can have a look under the hood of my Gf's brother's GT4 and compare it to my front, see what similarites there are etc. QUOTE Curren front. Gt-4 hood. TRD spoiler. Anybody else loving this idea? I have actually thought about the GT4/Curren hood or even the bottom part of the GT4 bumper attached to the curren one, although there is the risk of it looking like arse or try hard. I do love the TRD spoiler, though I love the height and shape of this spoiler ![]() It's a shame though because the guy that's selling the kit doesn't make this spoiler ![]() |

Ooops my bad, didn't realise there was a whole article on GT4 front conversions... but still, will some parts of the Curren front end be used for the GT4 front? the existing crash bar (if my car has one) etc... |

So I've been thinking alot about what's next for the Curren, and wondered if it was better to 'fix' up the front end and sell it for a more powerful Celica or put a better 3s engine in it etc but then I thought, what about putting a GT4 front end on it to make look meaner? What parts will I need and is it a job I can do without heavy welding equipment/ getting a professional to do it? I thought it would be pretty unique having a GT4 coupe and being modest under the roof (keeping the 3sfe). I totally understand if it's not really a feasible project, just thought i'd hear everyone's ideas ![]() |
