You are planning all this weight reduction to save on gas? I thought it was to make a race car kindasad.gif

sorry
but weight reduction doesn't really make a race car
lol!

didn't mean to offend you, man
it was just worded funny
i laugh at the imports that i see driving around thinking that they have race cars because they have carbon fiber all over the place

Oh great... I got a 94 Gt-S and I just bought Alpine component speakers for the front? So you guys are all sure that they aren't going to fit without an adapter???

yeah, i finally got mine in...thanks to these guys (fellow 6gc-ers). i bought my adapters at best buy for $13. they needed to be modified a little for them to work...but i got em in.

in the picture you can see the speaker mount, the new speaker, and the adapter.

well, what happens is that when i try to turn on the car with my remote starter, the car will turn over and then bog all the way down. then it is not running any more, just the battery is on (radio, lights, etc.). when the intake is properly sucking air it idles at about 1,200. when i first start the car in the morning (and i have it actually running) without sucking air properly, it idles at about 400-500. i still need to clean the filter...maybe that's what is doing it.

but that's a pretty weird problem huh? do a lot of people have this problem?

the speakers in the doors are 6.5" circular speakers, right? so if you you buy 6.5" aftermarket speakers, they should fit right? well, mine don't! toyota made their 6.5" speakers extended on the sides so that they could bolt onto the support thing that holds the speaker in place. this is a real pain in the @$$ for me because i took my whole door panel off to find out that i was not going to be able to put in my new speakers.

knowing that all our cars are pretty much the same, and that many of you have after market speakers in your doors...how did you get yours to fit? i'm desperate!

i just replaced the fuel filter about 5 or 6 months ago (about 10,000-12,000 miles maybe).

what is seafoam? is it some type of cleaner?
~blaque

ps. thanks for clarifying the whole O2 sensor vs. IAT/IAS thing...

dude, red will be fine! there are so many cars that have red guages/radio/climate control lights in them stock. my mom's suzuki and my ex's grand-am both have red lighting...they won't bother your eyes. in fact it looks pretty slick. coomer used to have his guages red, but i guess he changed them back because he took that pic off.

grand am's and pontiac's are actually orange because it's easier on the eyes. Red like blood red is too harsh of a "warm" color for most people to look at for long periods of time.

hmm...it looks red to me (especially on my mom's suzuki). but you may have a point.

well yeah, i need to clean the filter, but it's been doing that for a while, even when the filter was clean. and whats the IAS? (sorry...newbie) if that's the oxygen sensor...yeah, it's in the piping. would an old sensor cause these kinds of problems?

i know that the guy who was going to paint my dash was just going to leave it in and tape everything off because he didn't want the installation to screw up the paint job (it's pretty complicated to take to dash out and put it back in). i would just be careful if i were you because the material that the dashboard is made of is fairly soft, so one little push will cause cracks in the paint. my body guy was going to pack on the primer to give it a slightly harder surface.

lol, or cuz you live in central... but yea, we have a few guys from the south, and few guys from the north...i think we could get atleast 8-9 people to do this...

exactly, we have people wanting to meet from the south and the north, only logical place is to meet in the center (esp. since Texas is HUGE laugh.gif ). . . whether or not i live central.

~snap

but i understand this point of view too. what are we considering central? san antonio? that's a fair drive too. just keep it posted!

I got a custom short-ram intake put into my celi (SE) about three months ago. ever since then, it has been like the car has a hard time taking air in when i turn the car on. it will start but the intake will not start sucking air in right away therefore the rpm's start out very low (about 200) untill i rev it up a little. sometimes revving up the engine will get the intake to breathe, but lately not even that is helping.

I'm thinking that it is an oxygen sensor issue, or maybe a computer issue. but the weird thing is that it didn't start messing up untill after i got the intake (i'm using the original sesnsor and the the original comp settings).

does anybody have any ideas as to what might be the problem? and maybe some troubleshooting ideas?

OK, so i got this new aftermarket stereo. it's only a 1" din. i was wondering what other expenses there may be in getting this installed (wiring harness, thingy to fill in the extras space blow the raido??) Just wondering how much money i should bring when i bring it to best buy (free installation not including materials) to get it installed. I've never done the aftermarket stereo thing before....

yeah, i wish i could help. i have an auto and i also have the remote start. but i have afreind with a manual del sol and he has the push button start and the remote start...so i know you can do it. it's just that these prof places don't want to get in trouble if you mess up starting it in gear. good luck tho kindasad.gif

yeah, i agree with most everyone else. i think that you should keep the black rims with the polished lip. if you had a little more bronze on your car (as if decals were an option...but i wouldn't) the bronze ones might be feasible. but i still like your car as is...

ah sarcasm...7afe is pretty sad. but i still love my celi because of the curves (like everybody else), it's rarity, and the fact that people think that it's faster than it really is. lol

Another thing - did the same **** with the Center piece in my Ex celi... And, it always cracked when ever i was trying to pull the center piece out.. The problem its self is the plastic, what NO POLISTERIC resin wount glue to it... so just use EPOXYD resi, or dont do anything at all cuz all your work will be messed in the first removal.....

...and, doggy, is that EPOXYD resin flixble or something? so that it can have some give with the plastic when you are taking it out?
