Hey guys. I crashed my car and decided to replace the airbags. I got both airbags and the clock spring. What else is required? I assume I need an impact sensor at least?

Edit: I found a tutorial after searching a while.

Again. No. I like is as it is.

I like it the way it is, as well. Just comparing what it could look like. Good job, btw.

The right high beam hole needs to be repainted white. Makes me kind of uncomfortable seeing a bigger hole than on the passenger side.

No it doesnt. Down to personal choice.
one is just meshed and the other has a funnel in it. Will look different even if I painted it white.

You could paint the inside rim of the passenger side high beam black. I think that would give it a more natural look.

I'm bad with photo editing but I think this would look cool:

I hit a deer with my 95 Celica convertible. I mostly just need a headlight and fender, but could also use some airbag components and a bumper. It's a cheap car, so I'm not looking to spend too much on it.

Edit: I found the price in the list. Nevermind.

I've been searching for an airbag replacement tutorial but I can't really find one. Any help?

If the cars structure is fine, then I'd much rather swap the front end then do an engine swap. If you want a coupe/hatchback you could always try to find a GT with a bad motor to swap. It would be much easier than swapping in a 5s into a ST.

It seems okay stucturally. It looks like the headlight area is pushed back a bit though.

I had a pretty nice 95 Celica convertible with 230k miles. I just smashed into a deer with it. I found a 97 Celica ST with 150k miles for $500 with a blown engine. I am going to buy it and swap some stuff around to get a working car. My questions is, would you guys use the convertible or the ST?

The convertible needs

-Front bumper
-Fenders
-Hood
-Airbags
-Windshield

The ST needs the whole drivetrain replaced, since it has a 7afe and will be getting a 5sfe. Both are manual.

So in case I didn't make the question clear, take the parts from the st and put it in the convertible, or take the drivetrain from the convertible and put it in the st?

Chances are the mechanism is bent. Have you been in a wreck. Not easy to replace just window. You have to undo the top in certain parts and then restaple. I'm on my phone so I won't post pics. I just did the top myself and was a good 12 hours

I got the car like 5000 miles ago and have not been in a wreck. It really takes 12 hours to replace a window?

Any tips you can give me on minimizing cost? The car only blue books for 2200 and I have already put half that value into the car. Did you by any chance use a manual that I could find?

I put my top down today and the glass shattered. I only have a few hundred bucks so I need to go cheap. I found an oem glass window for 75 dollars.

Is it easy to replace and how much might a garage charge me?

I know it had a tight fit going down before but what would cause that and what could I do to fix it so it doesn't break again?

Any other tips you guys could offer?

I just put an old Pioneer DEH-P6600 in my car. Not bad but not great. Honestly not a huge fan of lower end Pioneer stuff. Alpine, however, is great if you plan on having subs an components. If I were to buy a head unit right now, I would get a Kenwood KDC-BT555U. It's got bluetooth, usb, and a line-in on the front. Plus 22w rms per channel.

My stock radio only had a cassette deck. :-/

Just hooked up a new head unit. Plugged in all the wires besides one that was orange/yellow (I think the dimmer.) Had stock amp installed and had to unplug it and use a wiring harness adapter. Both back speakers work, front right speakers works, front left only the tweeter works. Any ideas? This is a 95 gt convertible, btw, and it's a pain in the ass. It has the 6 speaker set up.

I guess basically I am asking if they are interconnected and my speaker is broken or is it a wiring issue?
I don't know if the speaker worked before because I never messed with the fade or balance on the stock amp.

Also, if I have to replace the speakers, could you all suggest something that has a wide range for under $40 a speaker? I want midbass, midrange in front and a couple of coaxials in the back. I know

Maybe somebody could point be to a low power (25w rms) mid-bass speaker?

Can you visually tell if it is bad? Btw, I drove it ten miles and it ran fine.

They replaced the ecu? like the whole engine computer? why?

I had to replace it once before so I thought that when it wouldn't start this time, that was the culprit. I am not sure if the other one is still good or not.

I took my 95 gt convertible to a shop and they replace the ecu and distributor. Now I have no dash lights, tail lights, turn signals, no power to my windows or convertible top, or my radio/cig/clock. I checked all the fuses and they look good. Airbag light is on now, too.

p.s. When we were putting the alternator back in, it touched something and sparked. I think the gauges were actually working before this.

I tried the starter fluid, still nothing. Tried a different ecu and still nothing. I noticed that two ecus worked in it before and they said "D" on the side. The two new ones I tried said "J" on the side. Maybe it's not the ecu and I am looking into something that isn't there. How likely is it that a distributor would go or cause the ecu to fry?

Check under the driver side seat to see if there is a black box. If there is, you have a factory alarm, though I don't believe our keys were ever chipped and utilize an immobilizer (USDM spec- I know Euro spec cars did have an immobilizer.)

Does the car crank endlessly when you try to turn it over?

yes

When you turn the key to ON, is your check engine light on? This signifies that the ECU is getting power.

yes

Take the spark plugs out of each cylinder, one at a time, and check for fuel and spark. I'm more inclined to think you have an issue with a ground or your fuel pump is dying rather than ECU failure.

I haven't tried that this time, but the last time it happened, everything was sparking fine and the fuel pump was good. This was only like 2 months ago.

Take the ECU out and take the metal housing apart. See if you find any burnt transistors or any scorched spots on the circuit board. If indeed the ECU is dead, I'd say you have a definite wiring problem somewhere causing the ECU to fry itself.

K I'll take a look.

I replaced my ecu a while back. It failed for what appeared to be no reason. The new one has failed me as well. It was a rainy day, car was jerking a little, all of a sudden the car lost all power and wouldn't even try to start again. Any idea what could cause this to happen twice? I know the car hates low octane fuel, I have to run 89-93 in it. It also seems to run worse when the temperature varies a lot. One more thing, I didn't think it had an alarm but after it died I hit the button to lock the doors and it started beeping... ? Pllllleeeaaseee help me I love my car and want it fixed. kindasad.gif

I replaced the ecu to make my car run again. Originally it ran rough, then stalled, then the battery died and it wouldn't run again until it was replaced. Now it runs fine sometimes but other times its rough and I have to wait a little while before it's okay agin. Now when I turn the key to accessory without turning the egine over, it goes "ticktick ticktick tick grrrmmm" and the grrmm sound is kinda like something winding up then dying. Then my car idles rough and sometimes will run fine after I start going or sometimes it will just keep dropping my rpms no matter how much gas I'm giving it.
